Douglas Hus-Flores, a 19-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was charged with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl. Worse, he was arrested Thursday morning, only a few hours after missing a scheduled immigration hearing.
Police said Hus-Flores appeared to be living in Stamford, Conn., illegally. An immigration detainer has been placed on him, along with a $250,000 court appearance bond, after his arraignment at the Stamford courthouse Thursday afternoon, The Advocate reported.
The Guatemalan immigrant was charged with first-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor after the 3-year-old toddler was transported to Stamford Hospital for injuries and bleeding. Police Lt. Tom Barcello said the girl’s mother called for an ambulance late Wednesday night after the girl complained of pain.
Doctors at the hospital determined the child’s injuries were likely caused by sexual assault. “We got involved because it looked like something more than a medical call,” Barcello said. The lieutenant added that the girl was transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital, because the doctors there had more “expertise” to investigate the sexual assault of a child.
Barcello reported the child has been released from the hospital to her family.
Chillingly, the family and Hus-Flores live in the same residence. According to the police report, Hus-Flores told police he heard the girl crying for her mother Wednesday night. He did not realize the girl’s mother was out of the house, so he gave her yogurt to calm her down.
The illegal immigrant told police he and the girl went downstairs, where they sat on a couch and he held the girl on his lap while they watched cartoons on his phone. Hus-Flores told investigators he “felt lonely and wanted to be with a woman,” and admitted to sexually assaulting the girl, according to the police report. He said he stopped when he realized what was happening.
According to the report, the girl’s mother returned home from soccer practice at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The girl was crying and told her mother Hus-Flores had touched her.

As LifeZette’s Edmund Kozak pointed out, Connecticut’s Democrat governor, Dannel Malloy, issued a memo to his state’s law enforcement officers last month, ordering them not to comply with federal immigration enforcement.
“The message is loud and clear, the state of Connecticut will not allow the Trump administration’s racist and xenophobic actions to destroy our community,” Ana Marie Rivera-Foastieri, director of advocacy at the Junta for Progressive Action, said in response to Malloy’s action. Yes, her organization is actually called “the Junta for Progressive Action.” So far, the organization has no statement on this horrific crime committed by an illegal immigrant.
