The infamous Sally Jones, aka the “White Widow,” and her 12-year-old son Jojo have been killed in a U.S. drone strike in Syria, according to U.S. authorities. “The premise that Sally Jones and her son are dead is probably accurate,” a British official told The Times.
Jones, 50, reportedly started using her son as a human shield last spring, after she was named as a U.S. assassination target. According to The Sun, she was last seen fleeing Raqqa after its liberation by U.S.-backed military forces.
The mother of two was the lead guitarist in an all-girl punk band called Krunch back in the 1990s and converted to Islam after she married committed Islamist Junaid Hussain. She adopted the Islamic name Sakinah Hussain and reportedly smuggled herself to Syria in late 2013 to become a top recruiter of “jihadi brides” for the Islamic State. Jones was also known to use the pseudonym Umm Hussain al-Britani.
Junaid Hussain, 21, was number 3 on a Pentagon kill list, behind only Jihadi John and ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, when he was killed in an airstrike in 2015 as part of the U.S.-led campaign against ISIS.
Hussain was an IT-savvy jihadist who had used social media to threaten to raise the ISIS flag over “10 Downing Street and the White House.” He also hacked more then 1,300 names of U.S. personnel, which Jones published online.
Jones and Hussain were linked to numerous terror plots, including a foiled plot to kidnap a U.S. Army veteran and behead him on camera and a foiled nightclub or concert shooting. She reportedly used social media to threaten attacks on Britain and ranted about her desire to behead Christians with a “blunt knife.” She also once wrote: “U can’t just sit there with ur tea & scones ordering RAF drone strikes on UK brothers with no comeback from the Islamic state.”
According to the Daily Mail, Jones spent “a lifetime on state benefits while living in the UK.”
“The Americans zapped her trying to get away from Raqqa. Quite frankly, it’s good riddance,” a British source told The Sun.
