Are You Ready for Sean Spicer on 'Dancing with the Stars'?
While watching Sean Spicer speak from the White House podium, how many of you mused, "I wonder if that dude can dance?" Well, good news for those of you who apparently live very sad lives demonstrated by the fact that you asked yourself that question: Sean Spicer will be on the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars.
The new cast was announced Wednesday on ABC's Good Morning America. Joining Spicer on the dance floor will be actor James Van Der Beek; former NFL player Ray Lewis; a country singer that I've never heard of named Lauren Alaina; a past Bachelorette named Hannah Brown, whom I've also never heard of; former NBA player Lamar Odom; Kate Flannery of The Office fame; among other C and D list "celebrities," most of whom I've never heard of. The GMA announcement lets fans of the show know that:
Our favorite celebrities and their pro-dancer partners take to the dance floor to battle it out for the coveted Mirror Ball trophy on the new season of the hit show, which debuts on ABC on Sept. 16. In a new twist, however, the official partner pairings will not be announced until the season premiere.
During the announcement, Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron made the lame joke, "The nice thing is Sean will be in charge of assessing audience size." The joke was in reference to Spicer's insistence about President Trump's inauguration crowd that "This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period."
For the record, my wife was at that inauguration, and one of the things that stood out to her was how empty the National Mall was. Arriving home, she commented to me about how few people were there. She even has pictures. Those pictures contradict the official White House photos, of course, but, whatever. Sean Spicer will be dancing on TV and that's all that matters now. For his sake, let's hope that he's better at dancing than he is at lying (allegedly) to reporters.
