Thankfully, good Samaritans can be found almost anywhere. One woman in Doral, Fla., learned the hard way that she was in need of one.
The unidentified woman, who was also an off-duty police officer with her two children in the back seat of her car, stopped breathing while speaking to a McDonald’s employee through a drive-thru window. As she began to struggle and go unconscious, her foot came off the brake and her car began to roll away.
Noticing that the woman was struggling and in danger, the employee, Pedro Viloria, didn’t think twice before jumping out the window to help.
According to USA Today,
“In that moment, I thought, ‘I’d rather save that woman’s life,'” Viloria told WPLG. “I see she’s, like, inflating her neck, like trying to breathe, like ‘ahh,’ and basically I thought something was going wrong.”
The car rolled away and stopped at a curb, according to the station.
WSVN-TV reported that an off-duty Miami-Dade Fire Rescue worker happened to be inside the McDonald’s and helped the woman.
The woman was transported to Kendall Regional Hospital, where she is in critical condition, WSVN-TV reported.
