If you have not yet watched Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014) and ever intend to see this awesome, hilarious, but also ridiculously silly film, you’ll probably want to see it before reading this. Then again, being spoiled won’t ruin the fun.

There’s a sequel on the way, and news broke on Thursday that that movie might be bringing back one of our absolute favorite characters. We all remember that tragic moment when Harry Hart (Colin Firth, may his awesome character rest in peace) is put down, bluntly, by the hilarious, crazed, climate alarmist villain Valentine (played to perfection by Samuel L. Jackson).

As with many coming-of-age stories, our scrappy hero Eggsy (Taron Egerton) needed a suave, classy, and experienced mentor to train him in the arts of “modern knight” awesomeness. The death of said mentor was a major turning point, and it propelled Eggsy to become the hero the world needed.

Well, like many films that rack up $414 million worldwideKingsman is getting a much-deserved second film. Along those lines, actor Taron Egerton just dropped a major bombshell: Harry Hart might just be coming back.

The image features Hart’s glasses, broken in a church brawl, with the caption, “Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”

Now, I know what you’re thinking. “This cheapens the first movie!” “But he dies so awesomely.” “How many characters is Hollywood going to meaninglessly bring back from the dead?!”

Well, for all its amazingness, Kingsman just didn’t make sense sometimes. The red-white-and-blue explosions were hilarious and absurd, as was the very concept of the female villain using swords for legs. When the laughing subsides after your third viewing, and the stitch in your side gets a little break, you start to realize the movie really strains credulity, but that doesn’t stop you pressing “play” yet another time. (OK, I’m using a bit of hyperbole here, but it’s a really great movie.)

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) is likely to be just as zany, ridiculous, and wonderful as The Secret Service was, and I think maybe we can forgive Hollywood’s zombie tendencies just this once. After all, wasn’t Colin Firth awesome?
