MSNBC Soldier in the War on Women Says Palin 'Qualified for a Dose of Discipline'

Martin Bashir, a soldier in the left’s War on Women, dropped a stink bomb on Sarah Palin at the end of his show on Friday. Bashir took Palin Derangement Syndrome to a new level of hysteria this week when he viciously attacked her for a comment she made at Iowa’s Faith and Freedom Coalition event last weekend.

During his “Clear the Air” segment, Bashir called Palin America’s “resident dunce,” accusing her of “scraping the barrel of her long-deceased mind, and using her all-time favorite analogy in an attempt to sound intelligent about the national debt.” Calling Palin a “world class idiot” Bashir went further, saying she deserved the same punishment as slaves — specifically, that someone should defecate and urinate in her mouth. Claiming she would be an “outstanding candidate” for such torture, the misogynistic Bashir said Palin is “qualified for a dose of discipline.”

Bashir described the diary of a Jamaican plantation overseer named Thomas Thistlewood, who tortured and brutalized the slaves in his care. “What is most shocking about Thistlewood’s diary is not simply the fact that he assumes the right to own and possess other human beings, but is the sheer cruelty and brutality of his regime,” Bashir said. “In 1756, he records that a slave named Darby ‘catched eating kanes had him well flogged and pickled, then made Hector, another slave, s-h-i-t in his mouth.’”

“This became known as ‘Darby’s Dose,’ a punishment invented by Thistlewood that spoke only of inhumanity.”

What did Sarah Palin say to deserve what Bashir described as the “inhumanity” of Darby’s Dose?

Palin dared to utter the “S” word — slavery. And she used it in a politically incorrect way that upset the Brit Bashir’s sensibilities. A clearly racist way that deserves “inhumane” punishment.

Palin said, “Our free stuff today is being paid for by taking money from our children and borrowing from China. When that note comes due — and this isn’t racist, so try it. Try it anyway. This isn’t racist. But it’s going to be like slavery when that note is due.”

Worse, she refused to disavow the comment when Jake Tapper badgered her about it, saying that slavery is “being beholden to some kind of master that is not of your choosing,” and so “the national debt will be like slavery when the note comes due.” She said, “I’m not one to be politically correct.”

Palin added, “I’m sure if we open up a dictionary, we could prove… that there is a definition of slavery that absolutely fits the bill there.”

Why don’t we begin there. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines slave this way:

slave

noun ˈslāv

: someone who is legally owned by another person and is forced to work for that person without pay

: a person who is strongly influenced and controlled by something

So Palin is technically correct that the dictionary definition of slavery fits her analogy. The United States is already strongly influenced (if not somewhat controlled) by communist China, which now holds $1.2773 trillion in U.S. Treasuries (up from $60.3 billion in December of 2000).

(And while we’re on the subject of that Merriam-Webster definition, let’s note that the entry gives an example for use of the word slave that should deeply disturb Bashir: “Do it yourself! I’m not your slave!”)

To Bashir it seems that slavery only happened in the 1700s and 1800s, in the Americas, and only to black people (so they’re the only ones qualified to talk about it. Except for Bashir). It’s as if he doesn’t realize that slavery has existed almost since humans first walked on the earth and it’s an ongoing problem still.

Our own government describes modern-day slavery in a Department of Homeland Security training module. Our racist, right-wing government calls victims of debt bondage around the world “slaves”:

Victims of debt bondage are typically required to work for low wages to repay an excessive or unreasonable amount of money in exchange for a service such as transportation or a recruiter fee for a job. The victims are then compelled to pay their debts by becoming modern-day slaves.

Our bigoted State Department answers the question, “What is Modern Slavery?” The government website lists involuntary servitude and forced labor as forms of “modern slavery,” as well as “the use of a bond, or debt,” called “bonded labor” or “debt bondage.” The State Department says that “workers around the world fall victim to debt bondage when traffickers or recruiters unlawfully exploit an initial debt the worker assumed as part of the terms of employment. Workers may also inherit intergenerational debt in more traditional systems of bonded labor.”

So is Palin really a “world class idiot” for suggesting that some day in the future America could, as the Bible teaches, become — as borrowers — “the slave of the lender”? Could this happen, literally? China recently announced a double-digit increase in military spending (as the United States continues to cut military spending and spread itself thin in conflicts around the globe).

And consider that China happens to be near the top of the list of countries with the most slaves. According to NPR, it is estimated that there are 2.8 million to 3.1 million slaves in China right now. And beyond slavery, human rights abuses abound in China and they’ve been attacking our country in recent years through ramped-up cyberterrorism. They are no friends to liberty and freedom.

To many Americans (not all of them “world class idiots”) our country has a small window of time to recover from the long Road to Serfdom that F.A. Hayek described in his classic book.

That democratic socialism, the great utopia of the last few generations, is not only unachievable, but that to strive for it produces something so utterly different that few of those who wish it would be prepared to accept the consequences, many will not believe until the connection has been laid bare in all its aspects.

With the fallout from the Obamacare debacle, we have only begun to see the consequences of a major power grab by a group of central planners. The outcome remains unknown, but recent events suggest a weakened country may be left in the wake of this social and economic experiment. Will China some day take advantage of our weakness? Could American debtors someday be enslaved to the Chinese? We all shudder at the thought and pray it could never happen. But we also must acknowledge that countries enduring far longer than the United States have gone the way of the dinosaur.

Regardless of how you feel about Sarah Palin and her views about the possible fate of our country, we should at least be able to agree that Martin Bashir’s comments were despicable. That he should suggest a disgusting form of punishment for any American citizen who is simply exercising her First Amendment right to free speech is beyond the pale. It’s one thing to criticize a political foe’s opinions or to question her intellect. But the sadistic Bashir goes beyond words and suggests a vile punishment for Palin — that she deserves to have someone forcibly defecate in her mouth.

Martin Bashir is apparently alright with torturing women — or maybe he even enjoys the thought. As long as they can get free birth control pills, right? Every last member of Team War on Women who refuses to defend Sarah Palin from this kind of attack utterly betrays women with their silence. Keep this in mind when you get the hysterical War on Women phone calls from the DNC next fall and remember what liberals are willing to do to you when you “offend” them.
