THE WASHINGTON POST looks at lavish benefits for state and local govt. retirees. “Fueling the backlash is the fact that the retirement system for government workers, especially on the state and local level, has become by many measures a significantly better deal than that available to most people who work for the private sector. . . . Public-sector workers frequently can retire earlier, often in their 40s and 50s, receiving pension checks even as they go on to another career – or sometimes, ‘double-dipping’ in their old one.”

I don’t have that kind of retirement deal. Of course, that may explain why Tennessee is solvent . . . .
