Massachusetts Rabbi Invites CAIR, Others to Mislead His Congregation

Rabbi Howard Jaffe of Temple Isaiah in Lexington, Massachusetts, recently illustrated how, all too often, efforts at “interfaith dialogue” are futile and self-defeating.

Jaffe staged an event entitled “Out of Many, One,” featuring Nadeem Mazen of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Stephanie Marzouk of the Muslim Justice League (MJL), and Samer Naseredden of the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC).

CAIR is hardly a trustworthy partner for “dialogue.” It was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hezballah as terrorist groups. Several former CAIR officials have been convicted of various crimes related to jihad terror.

CAIR’s cofounder and longtime chairman Omar Ahmad as well as its chief spokesman Ibrahim Hooper have made statements about how Islamic law should be imposed in the United States. (Ahmad denies this, but the original reporter stands by her story.) CAIR chapters frequently distribute pamphlets telling Muslims not to cooperate with law enforcement. CAIR has opposed virtually every anti-terror measure that has been proposed or implemented, and has been declared a terror organization by the United Arab Emirates. A CAIR operative recently called for the overthrow of the U.S. government.

Rabbi Jaffe, not surprisingly, did not inform his congregation about any of this at his “Out of Many, One” event. Not only that, but he allowed two of the speakers to call for donations to CAIR and other Muslim organizations. Said one:

Go out and donate to any Muslim organization, ISBCC, CAIR, Jetpac, Muslim Justice League, come on, donate to us.

CAIR’s Mazen added:

My project this year is I have to raise a million dollars. Don’t send clothes, send money. I’m not afraid to say it anymore.

The Muslim speakers actively misled their audience. Marzouk defended Tarek Mehanna, a former member of the ISBCC who plotted a jihad massacre in the United States for al-Qaeda.

Mazen claimed:

Of course, 0% of Muslims are doing violence in the Greater Boston area. I would argue that 0% Muslims are doing violence in America at large.

Apparently he has forgotten about two other former members of the ISBCC, Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who set off bombs at the Boston Marathon in 2013 for Allah and Islam. Or Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, the San Bernardino jihad murderers; Nidal Malik Hasan, the Fort Hood jihad murderer; Sayfullo Saipov, who recently murdered eight people in New York City for the Islamic State; and so many other jihad terrorists in America at large.

Mazen wasn’t through deceiving the audience. He also said:

[I]t turns out that CAIR isn’t Muslim Brotherhood … I mean the Muslim Brotherhood doesn’t really exist in this country. There’s no political Islam.

In reality, most major Muslim organizations in the U.S. including CAIR, have extensive links to the Brotherhood.

A genuine and worthwhile interfaith dialogue event would have featured Jaffe asking Mazen, Marzouk, and Naseredden what they were doing to combat among Muslims the literal understanding of the anti-Semitic texts of the Qur’an.

The Qur’an depicts the Jews as inveterately evil and bent on destroying the well-being of the Muslims: Jews are the strongest of all people in enmity toward the Muslims (5:82); they fabricate things and falsely ascribe them to Allah (2:79; 3:75, 3:181); they claim that Allah’s power is limited (5:64); they love to listen to lies (5:41); they disobey Allah and never observe his commands (5:13). They are disputing and quarreling (2:247); hiding the truth and misleading people (3:78); staging rebellion against the prophets and rejecting their guidance (2:55); being hypocritical (2:14, 2:44); giving preference to their own interests over the teachings of Muhammad (2:87); wishing evil for people and trying to mislead them (2:109); feeling pain when others are happy or fortunate (3:120); being arrogant about their being Allah’s beloved people (5:18); devouring people’s wealth by subterfuge (4:161); slandering the true religion and being cursed by Allah (4:46); killing the prophets (2:61); being merciless and heartless (2:74); never keeping their promises or fulfilling their words (2:100); being unrestrained in committing sins (5:79); being cowardly (59:13-14); being miserly (4:53); being transformed into apes and pigs for breaking the Sabbath (2:63-65; 5:59-60; 7:166).

As for how the Qur’an wants Muslims to treat Jews: Jews are under Allah’s curse (9:30), and Muslims should wage war against them and subjugate them under Islamic hegemony (9:29).

But had Rabbi Jaffe been aware of those texts at all, I presume he still would not have dared upset the general feeling of goodwill by bringing them up.

Yet they’re still in the Qur’an, and Muslims are still acting upon them, aided by the naïve fatuity of non-Muslims such as CAIR’s rabbi, Howard Jaffe. His “Out of Many, One” event represents a moral myopia of catastrophic proportions.
