Police officers gather at a terminal at Bishop International Airport, Wednesday morning, June 21, 2017, in Flint, Mich. Officials evacuated the airport Wednesday, where a witness said he saw an officer bleeding from his neck and a knife nearby on the ground. On Twitter, Michigan State Police say the officer is in critical condition and the FBI was leading the investigation. (Dominic Adams/The Flint Journal-MLive.com via AP)

A Flint, Michigan, police officer is out of surgery and in stable condition after being stabbed in the neck at the city’s airport this morning by a suspect reportedly screaming, “Allah akhbar.”

Authorities have just named the suspect as Amor Ftouhi from Quebec, Canada.

Reports are that Ftouhi shouted “Allah akhbar” and made other anti-American statements:

The Flint Journal reports:

A witness at Bishop Airport says he saw a police officer bleeding from the neck and a knife laying nearby before the terminal was evacuated today.

“The cop was on his hands and knees bleeding from his neck,” said Ken Brown, who was dropping his daughter off at the airport. “I said they need to get him a towel.”

Bishop announced that an officer had been injured at the airport on its Facebook page, but officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Brown said he saw a man detained by police and a knife on the ground near the injured officer.

More than 20 police vehicles from Flint, Burton, Michigan State Police and other agencies responded to the incident.

The airport terminal was evacuated at about 9:40 a.m.

The FBI is reportedly on the scene, investigating the incident as an act of terrorism:

The Detroit FBI office handling the investigation released this statement:

This morning, law enforcement officers from a number of organizations, including the FBI’s office in Flint, Michigan, responded to Flint’s Bishop International Airport after receiving the report of a stabbing of an airport police officer who is presently considered to be in stable condition.

The suspect was taken into custody at the airport and is currently being questioned by law enforcement officers.

The FBI, with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, is jointly investigating this incident to determine the nature and motive for the attack. We are aware of reports that the attacker made statements immediately prior to or while attacking the officer, but it is too early to determine the nature of these alleged statements or whether or not this was an act of terrorism.

Based on the information that we have at this time, we believe this to be an isolated incident. We currently have no specific, credible information that there is a threat to the Flint community.

No terror attack would be complete without a media or celebrity hot take, and Flint native Michael Moore was ready to deliver:

CNN also leaves us hanging, reporting only that the suspect said “something in Arabic”:

This would be the third Islamic terror attack in the West this week. On Monday, a man already known to French authorities rammed a car laden with explosives into a police van along the iconic Champs-Elysees in the heart of Paris:

And yesterday, I reported on the attempted bombing of the Brussels Central Station, where police shot the suspect before he could fully detonate his device:

Back in October, I noted that last summer saw a terror attack in the West about every 100 hours:

Now, we’re seeing attacks virtually every day.

As I warned here at PJ Media back in April, we may be looking at another more active “Summer of Terror”:

This attack in Flint occurs on the first day of summer, which also coincides tonight with the “night of Power” of Ramadan.

When it comes to terrorism, we may have a long one ahead of us.
