An off-duty Philadelphia cop shot a driver earlier today that witnesses say was trying to intentionally run over pedestrians.

The incident occurred on Broad Street in South Philadelphia.

According to local media reports, one pedestrian was struck and is in critical condition.

After another driver blocked the path of the suspect's car, the off-duty officer approached the car, shouted a warning to the driver, and got into a struggle with the suspect. Twelve shots were fired, and the suspect was shot in the head. He was pronounced dead at the hospital according to the local Fox News affiliate.

So far, the driver has not been identified, but the black Honda was registered in Maryland and the driver had a Virginia driver's license.
