Trump Campaign Bans Bloomberg News From Events

Last week, Bloomberg News announced that, in addition to not investigating founder and 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg, it would also not investigate any of the 2020 Democratic candidates. It would, however, investigate Donald Trump. It was only a matter of time before the Trump campaign responded, and they have, as anyone could have expected,  banned Bloomberg New from campaign events.

The Trump campaign on Monday announced it's banning Bloomberg News from its 2020 events, citing the publication's refusal to investigate its billionaire owner and 2020 candidate Michael Bloomberg or other candidates running for the Democratic presidential nomination.

President Donald Trump's campaign manager, Brad Parscale, in a statement said: "The decision by Bloomberg News to formalize preferential reporting policies is troubling and wrong ... Since they have declared their bias openly, the Trump campaign will no longer credential representatives of Bloomberg News for rallies or other campaign events."

Parscale said this will remain the policy of the Trump campaign until Bloomberg News "publicly rescinds its decision."

Honestly, I'm surprised it took them this long to make the announcement. For any publication to establish a policy to not investigate candidates of one party goes against the whole idea of what true journalism is, and opens up all kinds of problems with campaign finance laws and in-kind contribution issues. It's amusing considering Trump is the one who is made out to be against the free press and here we have a mainstream publication, as a matter of policy, turning a blind eye toward all the Democrats running for president. Imagine if Trump owned a similar publication and had a similar policy that protected him but allowed open season on all of his opponents.
