Obama Better Hope Eric Holder Doesn't Jump into the 2020 Presidential Race

Rumors have been going around for a while now, but MSNBC analyst Eugene Robinson is now claiming that Obama's first attorney general, Eric Holder, is considering joining the 2020 presidential race.

"It gets even more interesting," Robinson said in a tweet Thursday evening. "I hear from a good source that Eric Holder has been consulting strategists about possibly jumping into the Dem presidential race."

Robinson's sources contradict a March op-ed by Holder that appeared in the Washington Post, where he stated unequivocally, "I will not run for president in 2020." He further noted, "With the depth and diversity of the current field of candidates (and those who may still join), we will have a host of good options."

However, in recent weeks, growing frustration with the current field of candidates has Democrat insiders on edge. Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is also considering a late bid for the presidency. It's not unreasonable to think that Holder sees Biden's candidacy showing signs of vulnerability and the wackjobs left over won't give their party much hope next November.

But, I can tell you right now that Holder — if he chooses to run — won't be a savior for the party.

According to reports, Barack Obama didn't want Joe Biden to run for president because of what that might do to his presidential legacy. I can only imagine that Obama wouldn't be too thrilled about Holder jumping into the race, considering Holder was his partner in crime, and Holder jumping into the race could bring all that stuff out.

Eric Holder is responsible for the gross politicization of the Justice Department that caused the illegal surveillance of Trump's campaign.

From the beginning of his tenure at the Department of Justice, Holder’s radical racial politics influenced his actions when he chose not to prosecute the New Black Panther Party over their voter intimidation during the 2008 election. An investigation by the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights determined there was evidence of “possible unequal administration of justice.”

Holder inappropriately involved himself in the Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown shooting death cases, and repeatedly stonewalled various investigations into Obama administration corruption, including the investigation of Fast and Furious (which got him held in contempt of Congress), the IRS scandal, the Joe Sestak job offer scandal, the Benghazi investigation, etc., etc. In fact, the stonewalling by the Obama/Holder Justice Department was so bad that in August of 2014, 47 of 73 inspectors general wrote an open letter to Congress accusing the Obama administration of unprecedented obstruction for not allowing them full access to the information they needed to conduct their investigations. Holder would stonewall congressional investigations into Obama administration corruption and Obama would assert executive privilege to keep damaging information away from the eyes of investigators, such as crucial documents in the Fast and Furious investigation.

Holder was also responsible for the massive slush fund scandal that plagued the Justice Department. When the Obama/Holder Department of Justice negotiated billion-dollar settlements with big banks for predatory lending that led to the 2008 financial crisis, they made it possible for big banks to reduce their penalties by donating to left-wing groups approved by the Obama administration at the expense of actual victims of predatory lending.

Despite his tenure being marred by partisan actions, controversy, and scandal, Holder was one of the longest-serving members of Obama’s original cabinet. And it had to be that way because Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder worked in concert to protect each other. During a 2013 interview on the Tom Joyner radio show, Holder dismissed a question about him possibly leaving the administration. “I’m still enjoying what I’m doing, there’s still work to be done. I’m still the president’s wingman, so I’m there with my boy.” Holder saw his allegiance to Obama over justice and the rule of law as a source of pride.

There are dozens of scandals in the Obama administration that never resulted in any of the key players being prosecuted, and no special counsels were ever appointed. It pays to have a wingman as attorney general.

The skeletons in the closet of Obama's legacy have been slowly revealed thanks to the candidacy of Joe Biden. If Eric Holder jumps in, you can bet more skeletons will be brought out into the limelight.
