“MUST WATCH: Oregon Republican calls out Liberal reporter, gets THROWN OUT of candidate meeting,” writes the bloggers at Right Scoop, who dub this “the best thing I’ve seen since Newt Gingrich was calling out the liberal media in 2012”:

This has to be the best thing I’ve seen since Newt Gingrich was calling out the liberal media in 2012.

Republican Mark Callahan, who is running for US Senate in Oregon, was in a candidate review meeting with other colleagues in order for Willamette Week, a publication in Portland, to decide who they would endorse in the upcoming primary. An opponent of his, Republican Joe Rae Perkins, was on speaker phone. There were others in the room but I’m not sure who they were specifically.

The clip starts with Perkins answering a question on speaker phone. While she was answering it, one of WW’s reporters, Nigel Jaquiss, wrote ‘blah blah blah blah’ on his paper as she was answering. Callahan noticed it and called Jaquiss out for it, saying:

You want to talk about disrespect? I see what you’re writing down there. You just wrote down ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ for everything that Joe Rae said. Joe Rae is a respectable woman. Why are you not respecting her by writing ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ on your notepad?

When Perkins is asked whether he believes climate change is a myth and responds in the affirmative, as Right Scoop notes, “The reporter who wrote ‘blah blah blah blah blah’ followed up asking Callahan condescendingly ‘where are you on the easter bunny?’”

And that’s when the fireworks really start.

Compare that exchange with one involving a potentially far more powerful politician — Barack Obama’s now infamous meeting with the San Francisco Chronicle, in January of 2008, in which their editorial board sits there non-plussed while a serious candidate for the presidency of the United States speaks in a strangely cold, non-emotional tone about bankrupting an entire sector of the economy…

….And worse, considered his response non-news, rather immediately running Drudge-style headlines along the lines of “SHOCK: IF ELECTED, OBAMA VOWS TO BANKRUPT COAL INDUSTRY.” Instead, that moment sat buried in an hour-long video uploaded by the Chronicle in January of 2008 until the following October, when bloggers on the right concluded that hey, maybe, just maybe, the likely next president of the United States vowing to destroy an entire industry in the midst of an economic crisis might just be news voters should be aware of.

In 2007, dinosaur media house organ Editor & Publisher suggested “Climate Change: Get Over Objectivity, Newspapers.”

Which of course the industry quickly took to heart, along with a level of schizophrenia that is certainly fascinating to watch.

* Why not? It causes everything else.
