Chu Chu Ch-Boogies

Energy Secretary Steven Chu Stepping Down, Bridget Johnson writes at the Tatler:

President Obama has lost even more diversity in his cabinet with the resignation of Energy Secretary Steven Chu.

Chu’s infamously said in a 2008 interview with the Wall Street Journal that “somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”

“I no longer share that view,” Chu told a Senate hearing last March. “Of course we don’t want the price of gasoline to go up. We want it to go down.”

Well, at least until the election was over. And now that it is, surprise! “Gas Prices Heading Up Again,” CBS’s Chicago affiliate reports:

Hold on to your wallets: we are in the middle of a gas price spike, and experts say it will only get worse.

CBS 2′s Courtney Gousman learned several factors might push the price in our area to more than $4 a gallon.

It’s now become a task most people dread — pulling up to the pump.

“I never know depending on the day,” said motorist Carrie Secrist.

“It’s no fun at the pump,” said driver Veta Charles.

Sure it is — if you work for NBC, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Politico, who have all called for higher energy prices, as has Chu and Obama himself.

Apparently though, not all of the president’s supporters are onboard with that idea, though. Unexpectedly:

Incidentally, how will Chu get home from his last day in office? This Daily Caller headline from last year has a hint: “Energy Sec. Chu doesn’t own car, but his wife drives BMW gas-guzzler.”

Not even a Government Motors gas guzzler or Pelosi GTxi SS/Rt Sport Edition, huh?
