Obama Once Again Celebrates Earth Day By Helping Destroy the Earth

“Earth Day Ends Obama’s 53,300 Gallon Trip,” US News & World Report reports:

President Obama declared today’s 41st annual Earth Day proof of America’s ecological and conservation spirit—then completed a three-day campaign-style trip logging 10,666 miles on Air Force One, eating up some 53,300 gallons at a cost of about $180,000. And that doesn’t include the fuel consumption of his helicopter, limo, or the 29 other vehicles that travel with that car.

Or as Deceiver.com quipped around this time in 2009, “Obama Celebrates Earth Day By Helping Destroy the Earth.”

Back then, CNN weatherman Rob Marciano gave the our radical environmentalist as president grief for flying that day — though thankfully not strafing hapless New Yorkers as Air Force One did earlier that year for a photo-op:

ROB MARCIANO, CNN meteorologist: Is that the 747 Air Force One I see on the tarmac getting ready to go fly to Iowa for Earth Day?

HEIDI COLLINS, CNN anchor:  Yup.

MARCIANO: I mean, it’s a pretty big carbon footprint just to make a speech in front of a windmill.

COLLINS: Yup.

MARCIANO: C’mon, let’s park the jumbo jet, just for Earth Day, Mr. President.

Curiously though, while the Earth Day believers at CNN are willing to issue their mea culpas today for their sins against Gaia, the network itself never seems to go off the air on Earth Day to conserve on energy.

Oh and speaking of sins against Gaia:

O, happy happy official Earth Day! And I can’t think of a better way to kick it off than to remember the founder of Earth Day, Ira “The Unicorn” Einhorn- now better known as Inmate #ES6859 at Houtzdale State Correctional Institution in Pennsylvania.

What was this pioneering eco-warrior’s sin – improperly sorted recycling bins? A secret stash of incandescent bulbs? No, the corporate pigs busted him just because he thoughtfully composted his girlfriend in 1977. For this example of Thinking Globally and Acting Locally, he was forced to leave the country for an extended 24 year holiday in Europe, where he was feted by the Continent’s ecological bien pensants before his extradition back to Philly. Note to fellow incarcerated climate change activist Charlie Manson (see down this thread): next time get a better press agent!

Heh. As the Professor deadpans, “I don’t think that’s what they mean by an Eco-Friendly Love Life.”

Or maybe it is: why is that so many who profess to want to save the earth are willing to cold-bloodedly kill its inhabits anyhow?
