VIDEOS -- Obama Losing His Grip on the One Cable Network He Could Always Count On
There are two stories in this set of clips. The first is the lie that President Barack Obama is now telling to cover his previous lie. That previous lie, "If you like your healthcare, you can keep your healthcare. Period." is central to his election and re-election. Without telling that lie, 29 times captured on video across several years, he may not have been elected in 2008, he certainly would not have gotten the Affordable Care Act passed, and probably would not have been re-elected in 2012.
Obama and his administration knew that it was a lie by at least 2010. Probably earlier. Much earlier.
So, it's a big lie. It divided the country. It changed the course of American history and paved the way for government to force Americans to do just about anything it wants us to do. It's threatening to sink the economy and destroy the private health insurance industry.
Last night, after that lie was finally and fatally exposed by millions of Americans losing their healthcare because of Obamacare, Obama offered a new lie by adding an "if" clause to the previous lie.
So that's the first story.
The second story is that even on MSNBC, the network that praises Obama to the skies and adopts his talking points every day, they're noticing the lies and calling them out. MSNBC is the network that edits Republicans' comments to make them say things they're not saying, so its dishonest anchors (looking at you, Andrea Mitchell) can smear them. It's MSDNC.
Historian Jon Meecham appeared on Obama's network today and warned the president that Americans are smarter than he evidently thinks we are.
Discussing the 29 clips in which Obama is captured in the first lie, Meecham says "On a lot of those clips, if you expand them out that we just played, he's really exasperated with Republicans there, too. they just don't get it. They're not telling you the truth. They're idiots. If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. So now he's doing it the other way, too, where we are all just the dumbest people on the planet. And why don't we get it and why aren't we as elevated as he is..."
During a reporters' roundtable on Morning Joe, the entire crew of Mike Allen, Willie Geist, Joe Scarborough, Julie Pace and even bitter ender Mika Brzezinski ripped into Jay Carney's open mocking of respected ABC reporter Jon Karl during Monday's contentious press briefing.
The roundtable all took turns ripping into Carney, saying that treating Karl that way amounted to a "last resort."
On Monday morning, the Morning Joe crew ran this devastating montage of Obama making the promise over and over and over again. Watch the clip until the end to see the better ender take her angst against indefensible Obama out on herself.
Granted, Morning Joe is the only show on MSNBC that isn't run by either Al Sharpton or someone almost equally objectionable. But MJ is the morning cable news show that sets the agenda for much of the Beltway's chattering class. When Barack Obama has lost them, and has Mika Brzezinski whacking herself in the head with a sheaf of papers because she can't defend him, he has problems. Big problems.
