Sophisticated Hatred: Democrats and America

That Kerry's entire story was false didn't matter to his leftist comrades in the media in 2004; all that mattered was that he was bashing America like a good Democrat. And to prove that his antics in 1971 weren't a fluke, on December 4, 2005, Kerry accused America's soldiers of "going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children ... [and] women."

To be fair, Kerry's "concept of America-as-criminal-nation," as Adam Wolfson described it, was perfected by the hayseed-turned-hayseed-hating Democrat President Bill Clinton. Not only did Clinton stand on foreign soil and protest America's involvement in the Vietnam War, a war he was personally able to circumvent, but he also blamed the 9/11 attacks on slavery and America's treatment of Native Americans. Clinton said America was "'paying a price' for its past sins of slavery and for looking 'the other way when a significant number of native Americans were dispossessed and killed.'"

More recently, Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has used her position to model hatred of America on the national stage. In early March 2009, she gave a speech to illegal immigrants in San Francisco wherein she criticized law enforcement personnel but praised the bravery and "patriotism" of illegal immigrants. While crediting the illegal immigrants with taking "responsibility for our country's future," Pelosi complained about raids being carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents trying to capture and deport illegal immigrants. Said Pelosi: "Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families? ... We have to have a change in policy and practice and again, I can't say enough, the raids must end. The raids must end."

So when our troops are risking their lives going door to door in a foreign war, as in Iraq or Vietnam, Kerry and Murtha are there to criticize them. And when ICE agents are risking their lives going door to door in El Paso, Texas, or Southern California, Pelosi is there to criticize them as well. There's no way to win with these people. If we stand against Hamas, the great Democrat icon Carter defends the terrorists, but if we drop our guard and let the terrorists strike we then have to listen to Bill Clinton assert that the attack was a payback for our past.

This Democrat-based hatred for America is dizzying, and we haven't considered Michelle Obama's inability to be proud of her country, Hillary Clinton's blame-America-first approach to diplomacy, or President Obama's recent world apology/Muslim appeasement tour. In their minds, the good guys are the bad guys and Democrats are part of a privileged class which is above the limitations imposed on others by things like the Constitution, the rule of law, or common decency.
