Rep. Tim Scott Introduces Legislation to Rein in the NLRB
Obama's National Labor Relations Board, a board which until this week hasn't held a public meeting since the 1980s, has made two very controversial moves that have the potential to destroy state right to work laws and empower Big Labor. One is the unprecedented case against Boeing in South Carolina, which threatens 11,000 jobs and American aircraft manufacturing. The other is the NLRB's move to speed up union elections, the most sweeping change in labor relations since 1947.
Rep. Tim Scott of South Carolina has introduced a bill to bring the board in line:
South Carolina U.S. Rep. Tim Scott has introduced legislation in Congress to prevent the National Labor Relations Board from closing down plants or ordering companies to transfer employment.
Scott's measure comes in light of the NLRB suit against Boeing, which last month opened its $750 million assembly plant in North Charleston.
The NLRB complaint alleges the new plant was built in South Carolina so Boeing could avoid unionized labor in the Pacific Northwest.
Scott calls his bill the Protecting Jobs From Government Interference Act. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor has endorsed Scott's proposal.
