Pew Study: The Most Biased Cable News Network Is...
A new Pew study shows that MSNBC is a hub for left-wing ideas packaged as news reporting. With a line-up consisting of Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton, Chris Matthews, and Ed Schultz, should we be surprised that 85% of what the network dishes out is progressive drivel? Forbes reported yesterday that:
A full 85% of the Comcast-owned network’s coverage can be classified as opinion or commentary rather than straight news, according to the authors of the Pew Research Center’s annual State of the News Media report.
CNN and Fox News Channel, meanwhile, fall much closer to a 50/50 distribution, with Fox News skewing somewhat more heavily toward opinion.
Not coincidentally, MSNBC also spends by far the least producing its news: some $240 million in 2012, according to an estimate by SNL Kagan. CNN spent $682 million, while Fox led the pack with an outlay of $820 million.
Yet, when you look at the data, you can see that Fox News can safely call itself more of a news organization. Additionally, it's another reason for conservatives to celebrate that their convictions about MSNBC are well-founded. Nevertheless, with MSNBC being – more or less – the low-hanging fruit, it means conservatives should pay even more attention to what is said on ABC, NBC, and CBS. However, it's always reassuring that MSNBC will produce content for us to write about.
