Thursday's HOT MIC

Here is your HOT MIC for the day.

Four senators have joined the call for a 2nd special counsel:  Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa; South Carolina's Lindsey Graham; Texas' John Cornyn; and North Carolina's Thom Tillis.

The senators also released a version of Grassley and Graham’s criminal referral earlier this year for Christopher Steele -- the ex-British spy and author of the infamous Trump dossier -- revealing for the first time the basis for the referral.

The senators say that Steele “materially misled the FBI” by saying he only shared the information in the dossier with business associate Fusion GPS and the FBI, when in fact he was providing information to the news media.

“Thus the basis for the warrant authorizing surveillance on a U.S. citizen rests largely on Mr. Steele’s credibility,” the referral states. “The Department of Justice has a responsibility to determine whether Mr. Steele provided false information to the FBI and whether the FBI’s representations to the court were in error.”

Here's Mollie Hemingway explaining quite succinctly why one is needed:

Cultural enrichment from a convert to the religion of peace:

Dane Bancroft may only be 13 years old, but his father says  the boy is a “hero.”

Dane, a student at Watson B. Duncan Middle School in Palm Beach Gardens, interrupted a knife attack at his home at BallenIsles Country Club early Monday that left another boy dead and Dane’s mother, Elaine M. Simon, hospitalized with stab wounds. Dane was also left seriously wounded after being stabbed 32 times during the attack, according to Palm Beach Gardens police.

Lucas Bancroft, Dane’s father, said his son had a kidney removed, sustained liver damage and has undergone two surgeries since he was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center, but is expected to recover. "He’s a hero,” Bancroft said during a phone interview. “He saved his mom.”

From what, you ask?

Corey Johnson, 17, is being held in juvenile detention while a grand jury decides whether to charge him as an adult on one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first degree murder. Jovanni Sierra, a 13-year-old friend of Dane’s who was spending the night, was allegedly killed by Johnson. Johnson was on top of Simon stabbing down at her and “trying to end her life” when Dane pushed him off, his father said. Dane and Johnson engaged in a “brutal fight” that allowed Simon to run to a neighbor’s house and call police.

According to the police report, Johnson’s Muslim faith was ridiculed by Dane while the boys attended Jovanni Sierra’s birthday party on Sunday. “That’s something that would have set him off,” said Kyle, adding that Johnson didn’t take kindly to dismissive comments about his faith.

So, a "lone wolf," then? No -- a known wolf:

A Florida teenager who allegedly told police he stabbed three people, one fatally, after he was mocked for being a Muslim was already on the FBI's radar and about to be arrested on federal charges, police reports show. The FBI, which met with suspect Corey Johnson, 17, of Jupiter last year, began monitoring his social media accounts because of terror-related activity -- almost a year before Monday's bloody knife attack on two 13-year-old boys and the mother of one of the boys at a birthday sleepover, according to a police report.

The investigation -- which stretched back to at least January 2017 -- involves Johnson's alleged interest in ISIS, social media activity that included watching beheading videos, a threat Johnson allegedly made against a school in northern England and his reported fascination with dictators and extremist groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, according to reports compiled by Jupiter police.

Palm Beach Gardens investigators said Johnson's faith led to Monday's attacks, which left the boy celebrating his birthday dead.

Islam: a clear and present danger, but one to which political correctness is deliberately blinding us.

That's great, Matty -- but please take the corpse of Howard Zinn along with you, OK?

Always makes me sad to hear about the end of a marriage—especially when there are children involved (the Trumps have five).

Looks to me like Larry has had a little too much work done -- what do you think?
