Thursday's HOT MIC
This instant pot fad is getting out of hand:
Hillary's "Verrit" venture does not seem to be going well, at all ...
More bad reviews:
Then there's this:
Well, we can't just get through a national disaster without the unhinged left politicizing it, can we? Nope.
At least we can listen to Paul Joseph Watson's fabulous accent telling us all about the nasty leftists who hate Trump more than they care about brown and black people being devastated by Hurricane Irma. Well done, folks. **Sarcastic clapping.**
Is Gab (a Twitter alternative) "cucking out"? Via Right Richter:
One of the controversial users who's landed on Gab is Andrew Anglin, the founder of the Daily Stormer, a racist, anti-Semitic site popular with white supremacists. Since Charlottesville, Anglin has found his site bounced around the internet after being banned from several hosting and cyberprotection services.
Anglin is welcome on Gab, though — or at least he was. Over the weekend, Anglin posted a meme of Charlottesville murder victim Heather Heyer that compared a picture of her before her death with another picture of her getting killed. The caption: "Tinder: Expectation vs Reality" brought a comment on Heyer's weight.
That was apparently too much for Gab, which pulled Anglin's post (You can still see the meme here).. That set off accusations that Gab was at last "cucking out" just like more mainstream Silicon Valley social media, as well as new anger on the far right. If even Gab would censor them, they thought, what hope did they have on the internet?
Since pulling Anglin's post, Torba has claimed that he was pressured to take the image down by their domain registrar. Torba says he plans to find a new registrar that will be friendlier to posts like Anglin's, but the flap has created new distrust between the far-right and their premiere online refuge.
This will be interesting to watch.
[Trump's] Florida properties have become a playground for birth tourists from Russia’s upper crust. The Daily Beast has discovered several companies are advertising rentals in Trump properties to expectant Russian parents. While the Trump Organization does not directly profit from subleases of privately owned condos, it does benefit from Russian patronage of the nearby Trump International Beach Resort. (The Trump Organization did not return requests comment.)
Many of the companies that cater to Russian birth tourists advertise their services openly and warn no one will get in trouble as long as they don’t lie on immigration paperwork.
Here's one of the "birth tourists":
Anatoliy Kuzmin held out his daughter’s blue U.S. passport over a red Russian one and snapped a photo from a Florida beach.
“Woohoo! Got dual citizenship for my daughter!” he wrote on Instagram.
American citizenship for the newborn girl was the goal of Kuzmin and his Instagram-celebrity wife, who sought the help of birth-tourism services in Florida for the arrival of their first child. They are among the estimated hundreds of Russian parents who flock to the U.S. annually for warm weather, excellent medical care, and, more importantly, birthright American citizenship.
If only there were a system in this country by which the laws could be changed to prevent people from gaming our system.
The Trump administration will replace an Obama-era schools directive on sexual assault in an attempt to balance the rights of victims and the accused, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos announced Thursday.
"The truth is that the system established by the prior administration has failed too many students," DeVos said during a speech at George Mason University. "Survivors, victims of a lack of due process and campus administrators have all told me that the current approach does a disservice to everyone involved."
"Instead of working with schools on behalf of students, the prior administration weaponized the Office for Civil Rights to work against schools and against students," DeVos said. She added that "the era of 'rule by letter' is over. "
And the money quote: "The notion that a school must diminish due process rights to better serve the 'victim' only creates more victims."
The left is not taking this news well:
DeVos made the announcement during a tightly controlled half-hour event at the university's Arlington, Va., campus, with at least a dozen local police officers stationed outside. She did not take questions afterward. Shouts from protesters outside could be heard as DeVos spoke.
"It's really telling us that we don't matter, that our pain is not relevant to people in power," said Chessy Prout, 18. Prout said she was assaulted as a high school freshman and subsequently had to change schools.
Here's an idea: How about you judge people by their words and actions instead of listening to the little SJW translator in your head? You're welcome.
Aerial footage of St, Martin, also devastated by Irma.
If I lived in Florida, I would be packing up as much as I could into my car and leaving the state for a few days ...
I don't think it's "new" — this has been going on for a while:
Donald Trump Junior privately met with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee today to answer questions about his meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower in June of last year.
In his opening statement, Don Jr. said he was open to receiving information about Hillary Clinton's "fitness, character or qualifications" when he accepted the meeting with Natalia Veselnitskaya.
There is nothing particularly damning in the statement that I could see, but the The Russia/Trump collusion "scandal" continues to chug along -- mostly on fumes, these days.
