So, I wanted Kavanaugh confirmed on my birthday. I guess I have to settle with him getting enough votes.
Oh, and Manchin is a yes, too!
Best. Photo. Of. The. Day.
So much here. The unhinged pursuer. Her glossy preprinted sign with the union label. (Trust me, it's there.) Uncivil, nasty rage. In contrast, Senator Graham's smile. And the tie adjustment, compared to the unkempt wild shrieker. And between the two, thank God, the law (for now at least).
The lunatics aren't done. Saturday, Leftist groups will be marching all over the country in the #NoJusticeNoSeat march.
They plan on occupying the Hart Senate Office Building at 9 a.m. Saturday. They have also chosen a number of other states to unleash their rage: Vermont, Maine, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Georgia and Ohio.
They plan on "showing their opposition to Brett Kavanaugh and support for survivors of sexual violence," as if there is any relation between the two. The Soros-funded groups organizing the pack of nuts are:
Advocates for Youth, Alliance for Justice Action Campaign, Feminist Majority, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, MoveOn, NAACP, NARAL Pro-Choice America, National Council of Jewish Women, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Women’s Law Center, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, UltraViolet Action, United State of Women, and Sierra Club
So the crazy train rolls on.
It's not over until it is over, but...
Senators who stood up to the leftist mobs, threats of violence, and false claims deserve credit. The Left was fully engaged with everything it had, and it didn't win the field. Collins saw through it. The rest of the Republicans saw through it. And Americans saw through it.
This has to be disturbing for both mainstream Democrats and the Left. The Democratic Party allowed the extreme radical Left to drive the anti-Kavanaugh strategy and they blew it. Ridiculous claims, preposterous decades-old allegations, and in-your-face incivility were the tools of choice for the strategy.
Kavanaugh's honor was attacked, and when he defended his honor, then his foes claimed he didn't have the temperament to be a judge.
We still don't know if the full 30 hours is going to run before a final vote. Majority Leader McConnell is now working out a time for a vote Saturday.
It may still be that Senator Murkowski may yet change her vote, especially after Senator Collins' speech. People in Alaska are angry that she is on the wrong side of the issue, but it is not too late for her to fix that.
Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke was found guilty of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Chicago teenager Laquan McDonald.
A jury has found Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke guilty of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald in 2014. Van Dyke, who was also found guilty of 16 counts of aggravated battery, sat impassively, with his shoulders slumped, as the verdicts were read Friday. Van Dyke was found not guilty of official misconduct.
Originally declared a justified shooting by the police department, it took a court order for the dash cam video to see the light. What the video clearly showed was Officer Van Dyke -- a 14-year veteran with a history of citizen complaints for excessive force -- shooting McDonald as many as 9 times in the back as he lay motionless on the ground. At that point, prosecutors filed first-degree murder charges against Van Dyke while a grand jury has indicted three other officers for trying to cover up key evidence.
We'll update the story as it unfolds here.
