Live Blog

Here is your live blog for the day.

This seems like good news:

Second Amendment activists were given a surprise boost this week when the liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals backed a lower court’s decision to suspend California’s ban on the possession of large magazines. Activists, supported by the National Rifle Association, have argued that the state's ban on ownership of magazines holding 10 bullets or more is unconstitutional. They won a preliminary injunction by a San Diego district court last year, and a three-judge panel on the Ninth Circuit backed that injunction Tuesday.

The court found that the district court did not abuse its discretion in granting the injunction or by concluding that magazines fall within the scope of the Second Amendment. "The district court did not abuse its discretion by applying the incorrect level of scrutiny," the judges also found. "The district court concluded that a ban on ammunition magazines is not a presumptively lawful regulation and that the prohibition did not have a 'historical pedigree.'"

“This is a significant win for law-abiding gun owners in California,” Chris Cox, executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, said in a statement. “This unconstitutional law criminalizes mere possession of many standard capacity magazines and would instantly turn many law-abiding gun owners into criminals.”

Don't give up on California yet: the fight to retake what used to be among the most productive, patriotic states in the Union is worth waging. Never cede the Left an inch, or they'll take the whole country.

The latest hysteria on the left involves Facebook supposedly "colluding' with conservative groups to investigate whether the social media platform is biased against them. See here and here, for example. The subject also came up in this week's House committee hearing about anti-conservative bias on the socials. Several Democrats voiced concerns that conservatives are receiving preferential treatment because Facebook has reached out to groups that have complained about bias -- ranging from shadow bans to demoting posts to removing accounts to fake fact-checking. A Facebook representative at the hearing said they meet with all kinds of groups all the time to listen to their concerns, but that did little to quell the Dems' ALARM! at the thought that Zuck and Co. might be talking to the ENEMY! behind closed doors.

Expect to see more of this in the coming days. The left is terrified that the socials could do a 180 and treat conservatives fairly, and they're not going to tolerate it. Look for a steady drumbeat of stories claiming that the left-wingers are the real victims of bias because, as we all know, if they're not the victims, they're not happy.

Check out this Slate writer openly admitting what the media has been up to for the past two years:

For the better part of two years now, reporters have been trying to find the issue or offense that could fracture Donald Trump’s base of support.

[Excuse me, but since when has it been it the media's job to "fracture" the public, rather than to enlighten and inform it?]

They have traveled to “Trump country” for regular updates from working-class whites and other key Trump constituents, only to find that those voters have been unmoved by each controversy. But if there’s anything that could break the president’s hold on his base, it might be an economic agenda that harms their pocketbooks and hurts their livelihoods.

They worked so hard studying the natives in order to to subvert them, only to fail again and again. #Sad!

You can kind of imagine those frustrated Journolist conversations, can't you?

Times of Israel:

The Israel Air Force launched a major wave of strikes at Hamas targets across the Gaza Strip on Friday evening as a cabinet minister said Israel was preparing a massive response to Hamas’s failure to heed repeated Israeli warnings to end the violence along the Gaza border.

“At this time our aircraft are carrying out widespread attacks against terror targets belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip,” the IDF said, adding that this came after the “serious shooting incident against our forces,” referring to sniper fire at IDF troops during a riot on the border earlier in the day.

Following the strikes, rocket warning sirens wailed in communities around Gaza. At least two projectiles were intercepted by the Iron Dome system and another fell in an open field, the army said. There were no reports of projectiles falling in Israeli communities or injury.

[...]

Israelis living close to the Gaza border were told to stay close to sealed rooms, and not to attend synagogues for Friday evening prayers in larger numbers than could be accommodated in protected rooms if Gaza terror groups were to launch rocket attacks.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was not available for comment.

Probably a true story:

#TGIF everyone.
