Live Blog

Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justice Stephen Breyer

Here is your live blog for the day.

Good Monday morning.

Here is what's on the president's agenda today:

  • The president receives his intelligence briefing
  • President Trump has lunch with the vice president
  • The president signs an executive order on “Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence”
  • President Trump departs the White House en route to Joint Base Andrews
  • The president departs Washington, D.C., en route to El Paso, TX
  • President Trump delivers remarks at a Make America Great Again rally
  • The president departs El Paso, TX, en route to Washington, D.C.

El Paso mayor: I will 'absolutely' call out Trump if he repeats false crime info again

So there was an awards show last night

The only thing that matters is right here, where Dolly Parton was honored (lesser musicians tried to sing her songs; we can all see why Dolly is the GOAT):

Hat in the ring update:

So two girls, Senators Elizabeth Warren and AMY Klobuchar, have announced they are running for president. AMY Klobuchar made the announcement in a blizzard. Apparently AMY treats her staff like Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada.

One early hurdle for the Minnesota Democrat is a BuzzFeed News report based on interviews with eight of her former staffers who accused her of running "a workplace controlled by fear, anger and shame." The article said the senator "regularly berated" her staff over minor mistakes.

A report from Politico in March 2018 found she had the highest rate of staff turnover in the Senate from 2001 to 2016.

Meanwhile, fake American Indian Elizabeth Warren was ginning up the vulgar multitude by telling crazy lies like “By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not even be president. In fact, he may not even be a free person.”

Ever wonder why these lefties are so angry and violent? Because the media and the progressives are out promising ridiculous and preposterous things like Trump will be arrested, Trump is a RUSSIAN spy, "Emoluments!", "Logan Act," and on and on. So when none of those accusations delivers on Trump's removal, the people are understandably angry. These idiots were trying to impeach Trump before he even took office! Impeach him for what?!?!? Beating Hillary?

Trump tweeted out a response to Warren's announcement that was immediately called racist: "Today Elizabeth Warren, sometimes referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President," he tweeted. "Will she run as our first Native American presidential candidate, or has she decided that after 32 years, this is not playing so well anymore? See you on the campaign TRAIL, Liz!"

Racist. Of course.

Rep. Ilhan Omar, compulsive Jew-hater

There is some serious rich, liberal Jewish coin funding the left and there is a fine line the anti-Semites in the Democrat Party have to walk. They need to signal just enough Jew-hating to keep their Jew-hating base/membership happy, but not too much where it frightens Jewish checkbooks to thinking that we Jews (yes, I am Jewish) are headed for the ovens again. Use your indoor voice for your anti-Semitism, not your outdoor voice. Rep. Omar is the Democrats' outdoor voice.

Freshman Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar ignited a new controversy on Sunday night when she suggested GOP support for Israel is driven by campaign donations from a prominent pro-Israel group.

Omar singled out AIPAC, one of the most influential lobbying groups in Washington, as the source of those donations.

Omar's comments touched upon a long-running, and particularly ugly, thread of the anti-Semitic movement — that Jewish money fuels backing for Israel in the United States and elsewhere. A freshman Democrat, Max Rose of New York, said, "Congresswoman Omar's statements are deeply hurtful to Jews, including myself."

AIPAC is hardly a lightening rod in the universe of pro-Israel groups (seriously, you guys), but if you are a legit Jew hater, the group would get your anti-Semitic panties in a bunch. Omar was asked to apologize by the American Jewish Committee:

Stand by for developments. LULZ.

Virginia political chaos

These embattled politicians aren't going anywhere, and why should they? If the Democratic Party isn't seriously going after them, why not just wait it out? Republicans do not have the luxury of "waiting it out" because the media stalks them down and the party throws them under the bus immediately. Remember how fast the pundits on the right came out against the Covington boys? Blackface, rape, whatever it is, no big whoop.

Leave it to the L.A. Times to turn the Rep. Ilhan Omar's never-ending anti-Semitic clown show into a heartwarming feel-good story.

Awww, her supporters still love her -- anti-Semitism and all, you guys:

Interestingly enough, the L.A. Times story has nothing to say about the outpouring of support. It's about Omar's apology for her "widely condemned" anti-Semitic tweets.

Some very cynical people in the comments thread are calling BS.

My guess is that the Post-it Note operation was the work of a local left-wing group. But I'm not ruling out that Omar's interns did it.

The latest breaking news on the Jussie Smollett story:

Neighbors are calling BS, while more surveillance footage has been found — showing no attack. Meanwhile, Jussie still refuses to turn over his phone.

Second City Cop says that "the dog-and-pony show is continuing until such time as they can plausibly close the incident without any political fallout."

Sounds about right.

Egg on their faces.

Why did the AOC team think they could deny the document?

"Unwilling to work."

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) may try to deny the document calling for the abolition of cows and air travel and subsidizing people who are "unwilling to work," but her office really did push out that "frequently asked questions" document.

This is a wonderful response to it.
