Good Wednesday morning.
Here is what's on the president's agenda today:
- The president announces the United States' candidate for the next president of the World Bank
- President Trump delivers remarks to the ministers of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS
- The president participates in a dinner with the National Prayer Breakfast host committee and pastors
Here is the text of the SOTU speech
Watch the speech:
Creepy, scowling women in white
I did not manage to watch the SOTU live as 9 p.m. is around my bedtime, so I watched it very early this morning. I was distracted by these white suits in the audience. WTF am I looking at, ladies?
In particular, the color is associated with the suffragette movement. Early advocates for women's voting rights wore white as a symbol of purity, often alongside purple for dignity and green for hope. The suffragettes also used white to reassure onlookers that their protests were non-aggressive.
According to Rep. Lois Frankel of Florida, the chair of the aforementioned working group, Tuesday's move was a direct nod to the movement.
"Wearing suffragette white is a respectful message of solidarity with women across the country, and a declaration that we will not go back on our hard-earned rights," she told CNN ahead of Wednesday's address.
Oh, are your rights in jeopardy, girlz? For realz? Please.
"Standing hand in hand with @HouseDemWomen wearing #Suffragette white to #SOTU as we fight #ForThePeople," she tweeted. "At State of the Union tonight, @realDonaldTrump will look out at the House Chamber and see a sea of #Suffragette white sending the message loud&clear that @HouseDemWomen are fighting for the economic security of women & families," she added in a separate tweet.
Women enjoy record-level unemployment, more women than ever are in public office and have more opportunities available to them, and these chicks are playing 1800s dress-up. The true state of affairs was revealed when the white ladies stood up and cheered the president's job statistics for women. That's right, you can thank President Grab-a-P*ssy for that, handmaidens.
General SOTU round-up
People seemed to approve of the SOTU — people other than the media and the Democrat partisans.
That is 3 out of 4 people! But you would not know that from the crazy commentary that followed. Van Jones was particularly unhinged.
Jones said, “I saw this as a psychotically incoherent speech with cookies and dog poop. He tries to put together in the same speech these warm, kind things about humanitarianism and caring about children, and at the same time he is demonizing people who are immigrants in a way that was appalling.”
Stacy Abrams, the Democrat woman who lost the Georgia governor's race, gave the official response to Trump's speech. Abrams complained, “Making the livelihoods of our federal workers a pawn for political games is a disgrace.”
“The shutdown was a stunt engineered by the president of the United States, one that defied every tenet of fairness and abandoned not just our people – but our values.”
Eh, these federal employees have a better benefits deal than regular Americans and they have better healthcare and a better retirement package. Government shutdowns/late paychecks are a risk. That's the trade-off for all those things and a job that you can't get fired from, so boo-hoo. Federal employees earn 50 percent more than private-sector employees.
This is the exact face I was making when I was watching these sourpuss babes in the SOTU audience.
The poor Venezuelans ate the animals at their zoos because they were so hungry. Ocasio-Cortez, progressives accuse Trump of using socialism as scare tactic
Fun picture from the SOTU: I title it "HAHA, LIFETIME APPOINTMENT!"
Historical picture of the day:
Thank G-D. Everyone is dying to know! Klobuchar to announce 2020 plans Sunday in Minnesota
And that's all I've got, now go beat back the angry mob!
Did Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) issue a stern warning to freshman Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) at the SOTU last night?
What do you think?

Would have loved to have seen the look on her face when she saw this in her own newspaper:
