Live Blog

Rep. Nancy Pelosi conducts a news conference in the Capitol to announce part of the Democrats' "A Better Deal," plan that would increase teachers' pay and make investments in schools.

Here is your live blog for the day.

Good to see my pal Mark Krikorian fighting back against the thugs at the SPLC:

One of the most prominent groups advocating for stricter immigration went to court Wednesday to demand a judge order the Southern Poverty Law Center to stop labeling it a “hate group,” accusing the self-described watchdog of running an illegal racket to silence political opponents.

The Center for Immigration Studies says the SPLC’s accusations that it is racist and anti-immigrant are wrong and have cost the nonprofit support and financial backing by scaring people away from doing business with the center.

The center brought its challenge to U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia by filing a civil complaint under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act against SPLC President Richard Cohen and Heidi Beirich, who runs the group’s Hatewatch blog.

Mark Krikorian, the Center for Immigration Studies executive director, says his organization doesn’t meet the SPLC’s definition of a hate group and the Alabama-based watchdog knows it but persists anyway — which he said was evidence of the racket. “SPLC and its leaders have every right to oppose our work on immigration, but they do not have the right to label us a hate group and suggest we are racists,” he said. “The Center for Immigration Studies is fighting back against the SPLC smear campaign and its attempt to stifle debate through intimidation and name-calling.”

Good for Mark. Decent people need to stand up against this kind of bullying, especially when the outfit accusing others of hate is, itself, a hate group.

I appeared on my friend Sebastian Gorka's new radio show yesterday, to discuss things political. Here's the audio:

I made the point, as I often do on Twitter, that the New York Times is the locus of Leftist power and influence in America, and that, "If you break the Times, you break the Left." Look for Seb and me to continue this discussion in the near future.

I will be on DC's WMAL with my old friend Larry O'Connor at 4:30 PM Eastern today to talk about my keto/Jillian Michaels post. You can listen live on your computer here and WMAL has apps for both Android and iPhone.

I don't like some of his policies, but you've got to admire his huevos:

As I was saying yesterday, Pelosi's contention that the Secret Service was too "hamstrung" to provide security for the SOTU was bogus Shutdown Theater.

The Secret Service has made it clear that it is prepared to appropriately secure the State of the Union, and even said no one from her office even checked with them before she sent that letter.

In other words, she brazenly lied. Will the MSM hold her to account? The same MSM that calls Trump a shameless liar and fact checks every remark he makes, including obvious jokes and bombast? Don't hold your breath.
