Welcome to the Real Citizens club, gentlemen, where we take seriously our obligation to defend ourselves, our families, our homes, and our Constitution.
Two years after the massacre at Orlando’s Pulse nightclub, gay, lesbian and transgender Americans are nervous. According to the Human Rights Center (HRC), a US LGBTI advocacy group, 52 gay people were murdered in the US last year because of their sexuality, and 28 transgender people met the same fate.
In increasing numbers, they are fighting back by taking up arms.
It’s brought them into lock step with pro-gun groups that haven’t, historically, been all that welcoming of gay people.
I'm going to take issue with that last line.
You go down to the shooting range, and nobody there seems to care much about your color, creed, sex, orientation -- any of that BS. We like shooters, and we really like to help new shooters become safe and skilled shooters.
And as Barry Goldwater -- that evil nasty white old dead Republican -- once said, "You don't have to be straight to shoot straight."
If you've ever wondered...
I'm still pondering whether I agree with this after all these years. :)
And now, something lovely and non-political to wrap up my blogging day.
See you bright and early tomorrow AM.
