Live Blog

Here is your live blog for the day.

Good Thursday morning.

Here is what's on the president's agenda today:

  • The president receives his intelligence briefing
  • President Trump receives a briefing on election integrity
  • The president hosts a Make America Great Again rally in Columbia, MO

Your must-read for the day:

How Should We Read the American Press? In Arabic. by Lee Smith

This is such a fantastic piece.

Blurring the lines between journalists/analysts and officials/operatives is not simply a matter of convenient nomenclature. It’s part of a conscious strategy to legitimize the nature and structure of information operations by obscuring their political character. How dare Trump strip John Brennan’s security clearance! He’s infringing on the former CIA director’s free speech rights—as a journalist.

Branding political operatives and intelligence officials as “press” is also intended to shield these newly minted “analysts” from possible prosecution. Evidence of their crimes and abuses may be found in the steady stream of classified intelligence illegally leaked to a complicit press corps for the purpose of marketing the Russia collusion narrative. By relabeling government officials as “journalists,” the media is protecting both its clandestine confederates and itself.

Go read it and come back here.

Troop count could go up to 15K

Yesterday President Trump revealed that the number of troops headed to the border could go as high as 15k. The media says this is just a political move because they make "political moves" with news and policy, but I think Trump really wants to make a big show at the border to stop people from trying to crash into the country. And of course, it is helpful around election time for him because voters supported his position on immigration.

"We have about 5,000. We'll do up anywhere between 10 and 15,000 military personnel on top of border patrol, ICE [U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement], and everybody else at the border," Trump told reporters on the White House South Lawn on Wednesday.

U.S. Northern Command estimates troop numbers will be around 7,000. “The number of troops deployed will change each day as military forces flow into the operating area, but the initial estimate is that the DOD will have more than 7,000 troops supporting DHS across California, Arizona and Texas,” said a statement from U.S. Northern Command.

One thing the advocacy media has not learned from 2016 is how out-of-touch with the public they are. It's impossible for them to gauge what is and is not appealing to regular Americans. They thought putting Trump's rallies on TV, giving him coverage, and attacking him 24-7 would hurt the Trump campaign. It didn't. The same coverage has continued during his administration, as if the media just didn't go after him hard enough or give him enough time on their channels so people could see how horrible he is. But attacking Trump relentlessly for protecting the border and sending troops down there is a bad thing only for the fancy clique in the NY/LA/DC media and entertainment circle. Most people do not want more immigration: 68 percent say immigration levels should stay the same or decrease, although Gallup doesn't spin its findings like that. Two out of three people do not want increasing immigration levels, so do you think it's good or bad that Trump is taking it very seriously that three different cavalcades plan on getting inside the U.S. by any means necessary? The media just doesn't get it.

Politicos and the media continue to make Trump's "barbarianism" an issue while behaving in the most barbaric and crude ways. First up we have Don Lemon of CNN, who believes that white men are terrorists.

"We have to stop demonizing people and realize the biggest terror threat in this country is white men, most of them radicalized to the right, and we have to start doing something about them," Lemon said in the segment on Tuesday.

"There is no travel ban on them... They had the Muslim ban; there is no white-guy ban," he added. "So what do we do about that?"

Also working toward unity and healing our national wound is former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Campaign staffers “are working to make sure that the agenda of the most racist, sexist, homophobic, bigoted president in history will go nowhere because Democrats will control the House and the Senate,” Sanders said. So if you voted for Trump, guess what that makes you!

Meanwhile, the media becomes UNGLUED when Trump suggests the media is sowing division.

“Yesterday’s visit to Pittsburgh was about coming together as a nation to comfort and to heal,” Trump began, talking to the crowd gathered at his Fort Myers, Florida, campaign rally Wednesday night.

“After this day of unity and togetherness, I came home and sadly turned on the news and watched as the far-left media used tragedy to sow anger and division.”

The crowd responded by chanting, “CNN sucks!”

Politico also chastises:

President Donald Trump on Wednesday night again invoked the mass shooting at a synagogue to slam the news media, opening a campaign rally in Florida by telling a vocal crowd that coverage of his visit to Pittsburgh the day before was “fake and make-believe.”

Trump paid a solemn visit to the city on Tuesday in the aftermath of Saturday’s shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue, which left 11 dead. The president said that despite a “small protest,” he and first lady Melania Trump were treated very kindly during their visit but that the media did not accurately reflect how they were received.

If you live in Ohio please share this with everyone you know. Even if you don't live in Ohio, please share it far and wide.

Kathleen Clyde is the sponsor of the TRUMP Act in Ohio, aimed at keeping Trump off the ballot here if he won't release his tax returns. (No American should have his privacy forcibly violated as the price for elected office). Now Clyde is vowing to interfere... er... "impact" the 2020 presidential election if she wins on Tuesday.

If polling is any indication, there is a 50/50 chance at this point that Democrats seize control of the governor's office and secretary of state's office, which would be disastrous for the state. I know, I know, polls are unreliable. But don't let that make you complacent. We could be looking at a couple of nail-biters on Tuesday and GOTV efforts are crucial at this point.

CHASER:

I'm sure that's next on their priority list, right after "DON'T DIE TODAY!"

I've been asking myself the same question.

On the other hand, I'm not so nervous about the outcome that I haven't already starting working on a Top Ten List of Kyrsten Sinema excuses.

Hopefully I'll get to publish it on election night.

If not, I'll print it out and eat it.

Are you practicing for your big moment?
