Drunkblogging the Mueller Hearing

Special Counsel Robert Mueller grimaces.

If former special counsel Robert Mueller trying to avoid saying much of anything while being questioned by some of the most duplicitous people in the world is your idea of Must-See TV, then you're probably already tuned into MSNBC. And may the Lord have mercy on your brain.

On the other hand, if you'd rather just follow along online with a coffee or (better yet) a Bloody Mary, then you've come to the right place.

House antics to follow shortly. Bloody Mary recipe to follow almost immediately.

Welcome to a very special midweek early morning drunkblog.*

And that's a wrap.

Schiff just implied that THE RUSSIANS will try to influence the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary.

So... who do THE RUSSIANS want to win?

Schiff is still peddling the Putin-Could-Blackmail-Trump storyline.

Q: In what way would Trump's approach to Russia have been different over the last 2.5 years if Putin had blackmail material?

A: In almost every way.

Schiff doesn't pass the sniff stuff, and never has.

This tweet is over an hour old.

Let's not over-sell what's going on here. But if the purpose of this hearing was to move forward on impeachment ("Shut up!") then this is a yuge self-own.

The Steele dossier was BS from the outset, thoroughly discredited, and still being sold as Shinola by these congressional Dems.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this.

There was no way today's hearing were going to provide the Dems the bombshell they needed to move ahead with impeachments.

The upside was limited, the downside... well, it's worse than anyone could have imagined.

By why bet so big on a possible return so small? Politically, it just doesn't seem very smart. Or am I missing something?

I'll give Rep Peter Welch kudos for so deftly weaving conspiracy theories into the form of questions.

He'd kill at Jeopardy.

I could have been out of here hours ago if I'd just written that instead of all this.
