How Would Romney have Handled Netanyahu's Meeting Request?
On Tuesday, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu requested a meeting with President Obama at the end of the month. The Israelis say that they offered to meet in Washington, while the Obama administration insists that no such offer was made. The Obama administration initially turned the request down, only to reverse course and hold an hour-long phone call with Netanyahu Tuesday night.
After delivering his remarks and taking press questions on the attacks on US interests in Egypt and Libya today, GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney took a rope line question: Would he have met with Netanyahu?
Romney's response: "I can't ever imagine if the Prime Minister of Israel asked to meet with me, I can't imagine ever saying no."
