Hillary Supporter: I’m Really Just Voting for Bill Clinton
Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are at the top of the 2016 election polls in New Hampshire, the first primary state.
D.C. residents and tourists revealed which candidate they plan to vote for or why they remain undecided.
A voter from Georgia said he is not “completely sold” on Trump yet but would vote for him if he became the Republican nominee for president.
“I think the fact that he’s just straight up and just says want he thinks just right off the cuff, I think a lot of people like that so, you know – I’m surprised he is still up there, though,” he said.
A D.C. resident said she hopes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton becomes the Democratic nominee because it would put former President Bill Clinton back in the White House.
“I like Hillary Clinton just because I’m women power, you know?” she said. “I just really like Bill Clinton, so the fact that she’s married to Bill Clinton is probably the only reason I like her. I really don’t know much about Hillary Clinton. Bill Clinton is my homie. So I don’t really know much about her but I’m just going to vote for her because of that, really.”
Another voter said she would support Clinton “because she has the same core values as President Obama.”
One D.C. resident said a hypothetical Sanders and Trump matchup would present a “difficult” choice. He predicted that Vice President Joe Biden would eventually jump in the race due to the controversy involving Clinton’s use of private email as secretary of State.
“I really don’t know how the email saga will affect her. Probably I think the Democratic Party might think about bringing in Joe Biden to help them increase their chances,” he said.
A registered Democrat told PJ Media that Sanders has her full support.
“I lived in Europe under national healthcare – I’m sorry, I like national healthcare. I like that he doesn’t want to jump us into war and his college program,” she said. “You know, it’s not new to him, flavor of the day, he’s pulled that kind of thread throughout his life.”
A tourist and his wife said they would not vote for Sanders or Trump.
“Sam Brownback was the last one – was that his name, yeah – that I supported. Pro-life, strong family values and that’s what I would vote for. Trump, with all due respect, he’s not a politician, he’s a businessman, so he really doesn’t know those things,” he said. “I don’t know the candidates well enough at this time to say. There’s too many of them.”
Another woman walked past the camera and said the 2016 presidential election is a buyout.
“If you’ve got enough money you can buy anything in this town,” she said.
When asked which candidate she likes the most, she replied, “Do you mean which one do I think is honest? None. If it’s a politician, it is a bloodsucker – end of story.”
