Government Motors dominates the Worst Cars of the Year list
Where profit matters not - so long as the electric Chevy Volt on which you’re making no coin gets up to 40 miles per 8-hour charge.
And where you think that this is such a good idea, Buick and Cadillac need plug-in cars too.
A fantastical place where you think that – based on all of this – it’s a great idea to lead the nation in green patents in 2010.
And when you’re a car company consumed-to-distraction with leading the nation not in great cars but in green ones, what do you suppose the automotive results will be?
Forbes has released its 2011 Worst Cars on the Road list, and the outcome is not pretty for American manufacturers. With the exception of the 2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the 2011 Smart ForTwo and the 2011 Nissan Titan, the cars on the list are all American-made. Worse than that, they all come from two manufacturers: General Motors and Chrysler. Ford managed to avoid the list completely.
Bravo, Government Motors.
(GM) offerings from Chevrolet and Cadillac crowded the picture. The base model 2011 Cadillac Escalade earned spots on the Worst Value, Highest Cost of Ownership and Worst Safety Performance lists. The 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid hung with the Cadillac for Worst Value and safety, and earned a spot on the Least Reliable roster as well. The Chevrolet Aveo and Chevrolet Colorado rounded out the worst General Motors offerings for 2011.
Bravissimo, Government Motors.
According to Hannah Elliott in Forbes:
GM has some work to do before it can regain a good reputation fleet-wide. Four GM-made vehicles--the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Tahoe Hybrid, Chevrolet Colorado, and Chevrolet Aveo/Aveo5--are ranked as among the worst on the market today. All but the Tahoe Hybrid qualified for the Worst Cars list last year as well.
So this year GM added a car to their already stockpiled roster of Worst Cars on the Road.
In profit-is-irrelevant, green-is-everything Government Motors Land, that, it would appear, constitutes progress.
