FBI Wants Public's Help on Dead Gunman's Movements, Associates
The FBI has put out a public appeal for information about the deceased shooter in the Navy Yard massacre.
Aaron Alexis, born May 9, 1979, was born in Queens, N.Y., and was last a resident of Fort Worth.
"Aaron Alexis, deceased, is believed to be responsible for the shootings at the Washington Navy Yard, in the Southeast area of Washington, DC, around 8:20 a.m. on September 16, 2013. The FBI is asking for the public's assistance with any information regarding Alexis," the poster states. "If you have any information concerning this individual, please contact the FBI's Washington, DC Field Office at 202/278-2000 or 1-800-CALL-FBI."
At a press conference moments ago, the head of the FBI's Washington office, Valerie Parlave, stressed "no piece of information is too small."
"We are looking to learn everything we can about his recent movements… and associates," she said.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier wouldn't give any details on how Alexis was confronted and taken down after "multiple" engagements, yet added "there's no question he would have kept shooting" if he hadn't been stopped.
Mayor Vincent Gray said the black man still being sought by police was spotted on a video at the Navy Yard.
"We don't know what the motive is at this stage," Gray said. "...We don't have any reason to suspect terrorism but it's not being ruled out."
Admins and senior users on top Al-Qaida web forums are cheering reports about the mass shooting at the Washington Navy Yard.
