Democrat Rep. Hochul: 'We're not looking to the Constitution' on the HHS Mandate
This is Rep. Kathy Hochul, Democrat from NY's 26th district, the same rep who was booed over the abortifacient mandate. The video is from that same town hall meeting, a different part of it. Is it my imagination, or does Hochul sound like she is easily the dumbest person in the room?
To a question about the constitutionality of the mandate, Hochul says they didn't bother looking at the constitutionality question. Then later, she insists that the abortifacient mandate is constitutional, because it doesn't specifically cover churches.
Never mind the question, where does the government derive the authority to dictate to private companies that they must dispense a service for free? Hochul never seems to have considered it.
Then a man asks her why the mandate for contraceptives and abortifacients preceded a mandate for Band Aids and cancer screenings, since those obviously have more to do with health than contraceptives. Her reply: "Clearly we have more work to do."
And the audience laughs at her.
Which was mean of them, to laugh at someone who is so clearly not the sharpest of knives in the drawer.
More at Hot Air. The stupidity of this Democrat is almost too much to believe. She sounds like a parody of the clueless liberal who really does believe in such things as free lunches, effective social programs and the Tooth Fairy.
That the administration Hochul supports is, on the one hand, apologizing to rioting Afghan Muslims who support the killing of four American troops, while it slams its boot heel down on law abiding Catholics here at home, is so offensive it's difficult to put into words.
