Anarcho-Laziness: Scenes from Occupy LA’s one-year anniversary rally

Just try telling Che that you just don’t feel like working in a socialist utopia. Up against the wall with you!

Basically, all of this — the anarchy, the communism, the laziness — is just a mask to hide resentment of successful people. That’s why Occupy failed: They didn’t work hard enough to disguise the envy and jealousy at the root of their worldview.

An upside-down American flag was laid on the ground so people could walk on it.

Typically, while trying to spell “ONE LIFE ONE LOVE” on the flag, the Occupiers sloppily wrote “ONE LILE ONE LOVE,” and then true to form no one even noticed it. Anarcho-Laziness forever!
Check out the full report soon at ringospictures.com for more details about the day’s shenanigans.

The last photo with the flag and whatever bothers me. I like Reggae music and Bob Marley. What really pisses me off is they trashed that song which is top shelf stuff with spray paint slogans.
Gonna spin One Love by Bob Marley on the iPod and remember that sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
Y’know, I too assumed it was a line from Marley’s big hit “One Love,” but if you closely look at the lyrics, he never actually sings “One life, one love,” even though we all have a collective memory of him doing do. Strange. I guess the phrase “One Life, One Love” has just entered the lexicon based on a misremembered lyric!
“one life, one love” is from U2′s “One”
You mean that song by Irish billionaire Bono?
Rich people are in the evil 1%, unless they’re Irish, in which case it doesn’t count, because they have cool accents.
And cool sunglasses that you never take off. Those are very important.
Bob Marley sings, “One love, One heart”.
When I photographed the flag on the sidewalk, one of the guys who had put it there invited me to walk on it. He and his friends looked at me and nodded, “go on”, one of them said. They didn’t appear to older than 17 or 18 years old. I took a few more pictures, and said “I can’t do that”, and walked off.
You’re gonna blow your cover, man.
On the serious, do you go undercover and dress like a freak at these events?
Or do the attention-seeking kids and misfired middle-aged wastrels just want their pictures taken by anybody?
Ringo, it is highly relevant to the conversation that the kids are every bit as radical as the older folks.
Their behavior is the DIRECT result, of a death-like grip, of a radical leftist teachers union via their stranglehold from the Dem machine.
It is not for nothing that the left is holding onto the kiddies like a drowning man to his life raft. To wit, once the kiddies are on board, the rest is gone. Thus, between their hyper-sexual indoctrination – to destroy the traditional family – and the bastardization of western civilization – generations of American children are taught to stomp on the flag, and to disdain American values.
To be sure, once the kiddies enter a college campus they are targeted by profs run wild – http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/21/the-paradox-pitfalls-of-liberal-democracies-in-a-time-of-immoral-relativism-the-havoc-wrought-by-leftist-academia-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
And, those who target a chicken business are the same folks occupying and stomping on flags. The question which needs urgent answering is – how did this happen? -http://adinakutnicki.com/2012/08/06/the-progressiveregressive-mask-is-slipping-fascism-rears-to-the-fore-yeah-chick-fil-a-commentary-by-adina-kutnicki/
This is how.
Didn’t Hitler once say “Our revolution will be won the young”?
The real Occupy slogan: From you, according to your ability, to me, according to my need.”
+500
So you ran into my ex recently?
Or “to me, according to my wants”.
wants -> greed
That was always the slight practical problem with Marxism, wasn’t it?
Hey, I can give Marx a break here. When Marx talked about giving people what they need, he had in mind enough food and clean water, a life expectancy that is higher than 35-40, and the ability to be protected from the possiblity of starvation and homelessness.
The modern state DOES guarantee just that. It is Marxist in this sense. Marx would have had nothing but contempt for those whose definition of “need” is cell phones, computer games, and the ability to do no work at all since other people will support them.
They are what the “parasitical upper classes” are supposed to be like, according to Marx. This class was never as parasitical as that, to put it no stronger, but the “occupy” folks ARE really Marx’s caricature of the “parasites” come to life.
Their slogan shouldn’t be “From each according to their ability, to each according to their need”, but “Let them eat cake!”. I mean, come on — OF COURSE other people need to work to supply Mrs. Antoinette with dainties and a life of fun and ease: you don’t want her life to be ruined by working, do you?
At least Mary Antoinette had elegance and class to compensate for her parasitism, and, in her defense, one could argue that if ANYBODY has the right to live like a Queen, it is… the Queen. These folks don’t even have that. They just want to be supported forever by the people to give them anything they want, because… well, because they want it.
“He who will not work shall not eat.” Karl Marx’s utopia.
“Eat the rich.” OWS’s utopia.
It could also be summarized as “Give me the stuff I want but expect nothing in return.”
I’m no prude, but when a movement resorts to public profanity and obscenity, it’s as good as a declaration not to be taken seriously.
Not to slam on you, Bill, but people always feel a need to say “I’m no prude, but…” I think it’s because we were told for all our lives that people who wanted decency in the public forum were prudes. Maybe they weren’t. Maybe they were just civilized. Or maybe there’s nothing really all that bad about being a prude. If the left can be proud to be “sluts” (except when Rush says it, at which point it suddenly becomes repellent to their delicate sensibilities), then I think I’m going to quite proudly be a prude.
Points taken, RKae. I guess what I meant was, “Having spent 25 years in San Francisco and Berkeley, I’m more underwhelmed than shocked by any of this”.
Maybe we should reclaim ‘prude’ as the left has sought to reclaim ‘slut’, ‘queer’, etc.
Bingo.
The left (with willing support from amoral people on the right) has demonized all judgment of conduct, with the predictable (and intended) result of moving all of society in the direction of the lowest common denominator – anarchy.
The purpose of the profanity is to ensure that we wingnuts don’t quote them. It’s not working.
Maynard G. Krebs lives. And his name is Obama.
But Maynard was a really nice guy though.
They were probably going to join the procrastinators club, but just never got around to filling out the paper work.
We need to drop them of on a deserted island and let them live their utopia.
and if we could get a camera crew to film it, we could have a new reality show called SURVIVOR – UH FORGOT THE REST.
That would be Survivor: Lord of the Flies Island
Glad they excised Karl Marx’s sexism: “… his ability … his need.”
Politically correct Marxists.
Under feminism, it’s “… his ability, … her need”.
Nah, it’s nothing so glorious as that.
They are just badly educated.
If they didn’t exist, Capitalism would have to invent them. Sad.
If you’re going to quote Marx, at least do so accurately: “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.” Changing “his” to “their” makes it totally ungrammatical.
Only after the revolution would Marx give according to need. The complete relevant paragraph from Marx’s “Critique of the Gotha Program” [with emphasis added] is:
Deadman you are making ntwo assumptions about these idiots. First that they can read….. Second, their minds can grasp a concept bigger than what fits on a bumper sticker.
This is how I like my communists.
Out in the open, where I can smell them.
…And I bet they don’t smell too good.
My cat buries stuff that smells bad. That’s how I like my communists, deep in the kitty litter.
How much do they want for the painting? Is the woman with the donkey head supposed to be Hillary? The elephant does bear some similarity to Newt Gingrich. A stunning representation of the benefits attached to bi-partisan politics. It should hang in Congress.
A simple misspelling. It should be “One Lyle, One Love.” I’m guessing either Lovett or Waggoner. I’m hoping not Alzado.
Whaat? Lyle Alzado was a great player!
My, God, these people are ugly.
What a racist statement! Okay now, everybody:
Waaaaaaacist!
And before you protest that your statement was not racist, shut up. Because of the racism.
The joker in the deck is that none of the individuals concerned ever get a say in what their “abilities,” nor what their “needs” are. The Dictatorship of the Proletariat (which in practice is indistinguishable from a garden variety dictatorship) makes those decisions and classifies the abilities and needs
From each according to ‘their’ ability, to each according to ‘their’ need. The Marxian message exposes the inner contradiction of Marixsm: Abilities are are bounded, needs are not.
I don’t see a lot of ability in this crowd so they’ve probably figured out that the “from-to” scales would be pretty heavily weighted in their favor.
Maybe we can just refer to them as The Idle Poor.
Actually, an upside down flag denotes a country in distress. Ironically, I’d say they told the truth – unintentially. Sad.
Some of these people look like they should be in care. It was the same in London. The protest at St Pauls’ Cathedral turned into a squatter camp for the homeless, drunks and druggies and the mentally disordered.
People fail and then blame “the system man” rather than admit to their own inadequate behavior. There is a serious issue to address though and that is what is to occupy the lives of those who are incapable of the demands of even a modest job now that low level factory or agricultural labouring work no longer exists. No politician will honestly address this issue because it makes them look pessimistic about the future.
Re these pluralists’ singular lack of grammar:
–to use ”their”, one would have to say ”From them, according to their abilities, to us, according to our needs.”
–or, howlingly fat chance, ”From us, according to our abilities, to them, according to their needs.”
The actual truth is more like, “From them, according to our wants, to us, according to our wants”.
Great report and photos.
Now where’s a fire hose when you need one?
These people are profoundly ungrateful and in need of a thousand spankings. Yes work is drudgery on some days, but we all do it, and that satisfaction for rendering meaningful service is priceless (yes I’m a fan of Napoleon Hill).
“Work has triumphed over all ways of existing.” What the hell does that even MEAN? Does this chick want to anchor herself to a rock and wait for food to drift into her mouth?
I like the guy with the one dollar bill over his mouth (he overpaid).
I especially like it because he has a Nikon camera strap around his neck. Wanna bet he has a D70 or other such yuppie toy at the end of that strap? You know, the toy that 1%ers designed and people who actually work built?
And paid for by his fascist daddy?

“copulating as only an elephant can with a Democrat she-donkey (technically a “jenny“).” Thank you for that excellent little piece of literary flair!
great stuff, zombie, ringo.
obama is down in LA for a big deal this weekend, and a *public* Republican rally at the same time on the west side.
Tell me more about the Republican rally on the west side?…Where is it, and when? Do you have a link?
Here it is Ringo.

Thanks…Can’t believe I didn’t hear about this before. I listen to Dennis Prager (on and off) most mornings. I guess I’m better hooked up with the Left-wing, than I am with my own side.
Body odor, urine, weed — smells like Occupy!!!
Freedom from work, maaan! It’s, like, oppressive and stuff. Freed healthcare and weed for everyone!
Ron Paul supports the Occupy Movement. The New York Review of Books has reservations.

Talk about a classic goofball lib. The clown wearing the Che shirt but carrying a Nikon Camera!
Capitalistic consumerism sucks! Says the guy with the Nikon around his Che shirt.
I had to work a long time to afford my Nikon, and it is literally the most expensive electronic device I own. I wonder how long his parents had to work to afford his?
I still believe that these apparently mindless persons (mostly teenish or 20ish are merely bored and want to do something to appear important, and their sponsors (yes, they have sponsors) are revolutionists seeking and eager for power.
