WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge is reporting that the northern part of the eye wall did skirt across the western side of East Baton Rouge Parish. I spoke with a loved one who lives there at about 5:30 p.m. who said that trees (the most gorgeous thing about Baton Rouge) are down in droves. For Baton Rouge, this is clearly the most damaging storm since Hurricane Betsy in 1965 when the eye of it crossed right over the town. Interesting photos and video at www.2theadvocate.com, the Baton Rouge newspaper's website.

Also, thank you Brendan for your outstanding coverage of the storm.

Hubby and I just looked at some loops, and we're wondering if it's moving more to the west. NHC still has Dallas in the 3 day forecast though.

PS: Women in Crime Ink blogged about Nagin's looter announcement:

Still looks northwest to me. Maybe NNW. Not due north, though. Baton Rouge will get the northeast side, though, which should have some pretty strong wind and heavy rain.

Based on the "current view" radar loop, it appears Gustav has shifted to a more directly north, toward Baton Rouge path. Am I seeing that correctly?
