FNV started as a way to share and reminisce about the music of the ’70s and ’80s I grew up with, and also as a personal exercise to learn more about music, about my favorite artists, and as a way to figure out why some songs stick with us and others don’t — and “quality” doesn’t seem to have much to do with it.

Usually what happens is I’ll get an earworm during the week (there’s always music playing at Casa Verde, unless I’m working or watching TV), and I’ll write a mini essay about in my head about it, then type it out on Friday as a way to relax and segue into the weekend.

But that didn’t happen this week, so allow me to introduce you to one of my Brilliant Playlist foundational rules: When all else fails, add some Bowie.
