Noemie Emery on the Smartest Man in Any Room:

That he is brilliant is something we already knew. “This is a guy whose IQ is off the charts,” Michael Beschloss said of Obama, who was the “smartest guy” to be president. Christopher Buckley said he was first class in temperament and intellectual prowess, boosting him two slots above Franklin D. Roosevelt in the gray matter arena. “You could see him as a New Republic writer,” said David Brooks, closing the argument.

But fact that this genius has become a disaster became clear in mid-June when the Middle East imploded, matching his health care debacle with its foreign equivalent. The non-connection of political wisdom to what intellectuals think makes for intelligence was never more painfully clear.

“Intelligence” is “proven” amongst the progressives by saying cleverly what everyone already agrees on, or at least saying it without looking at one’s notes too frequently.

If that’s too high a hurdle, a well-creased pant will do.

Cadence is only two letters apart from decadence.

Spouting leftist faculty lounge bull$hit isn't intelligence, it's indoctrination regurgitated.

Uttered in a pulpit patois it sounds exotic to the lily white hippies who fashion themselves as "revolutionary". But communist slogans and propaganda pushing failed and pathetic leftist agitprop isn't any smarter than it was when it collapsed each and every other time it tried.

Totalitarianism isn't brilliant. It is, however, a great detector of the fools most easily duped.

here are some attempts to determine obama's IQ by extrapolation. whatever you believe, the range 116-148, is far from "off the charts"

Intelligent people aren't tone deaf to their critics. They also tend not to behave like petulant children. Based on those criteria, Obama's intelligence is slightly below a meth addict pumping gas in Jersey.

He may be well read, and able to pull up factoids as at a cocktail party, but that is no substitute for intelligence. Especially when his political philosophy has not progressed beyond 1960s radicalism.

“You could see him as a New Republic writer”

Wow, that was prescient!

But I don't think it has the same connotation now....

Whatever his intelligence level, it is evident that Obama lacks the discipline and rigor of an effective bright person.

Intelligence = synonym1 = synonym2 = intelligence.

That's about all we know of it.

They also confuse (as is not uncommon across ideological boundaries) "intelligent" with "wise".

It's quite possible that President Obama is very, very intelligent.

But he's also a fool, at least where it matters.

Maybe, but I've never seen evidence that he possessed anything more than a pedestrian intellect.

The only accurate thing said about by Obama supporters in 2008 was said by the biggest Obama supporter of all: I am a blank slate on which people write their hopes." (I didn't look that up, it might not be exact.)

In fact, he is a thoroughly mediocre man. Obama's only real talent is getting influential people excited about him.

I think Dear Leader is as intelligent as Al Gore.

Remember the MSM ridiculed Bush for making "C's", and Al kept his transcripts secret? Turned out Al made C's on a good day, D's otherwise, and flunked out from Divinity School.

Dear Teleprompt Reader has the intelligence to guard his academic records with Michelle's life.
