Listen to What the Rand Says

March 27th, 2014 - 1:02 pm

Just how stupid is the Wiggleroom Administration decision to cease Tomahawk cruise missile production? So stupid even a self-described non-interventionist says it “makes no sense.” Here’s Senator Rand Paul:

Now President Obama wants to get rid of them rather than do the harder work of finding the waste and fraud in our bloated Pentagon bureaucracy. This is a mistake and will weaken our defenses.
Obama’s fiscal year budget for 2015 would make significant cuts to the Tomahawk program and would eliminate it completely by 2016. There are reportedly no plans to replace it with another comparable weapon, or any weapon, for that matter.
If President Obama had plans for next-generation weaponry that might take the place of Tomahawks that would be one thing, but giving up such an essential combat tool without such a plan is dangerous and quite frankly, baffling.
Nobody wants to cut spending, including Pentagon waste and abuse, more than me. I agree with former Chairman of the Joints Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen who has said that the greatest threat to our national security is the national debt.
But I don’t want to cut weapons that have been integral to maintaining a strong military.

A-freaking-men, brother.

Baffling. You keep using that word, Rand. I don't think it means what you think it means.

Or, at least, you're attributing competence to Obama's plans in the wrong way. I don't find it baffling at all. Obama is dead set on eviscerating our military, come hell or high water. This isn't a baffling move at all. It is completely consistent with a Far Left policy of doing everything possible to destroy us as a world economic and military power.

Baffling only works if you spell it "Appalling."

I don't think Paul is dumb enough to really find this "baffling", but he can't say it out loud. He'd be torn to shreds by the usual suspects. A moment of well deserved gratification would simply not be worth the damage.

Since when have the Donks started releasing actual budgets?

...the harder work of finding the waste and fraud in our bloated Pentagon bureaucracy.

And I believe Paul would change that if he could. He's possibly the only one who would.

Rand Paul's biggest problem right now is that he seems quite a bit smarter than the average Congress critter. This is likely to backlash upon him as his obvious intelligence is viewed with suspicion by a not so smart general electorate. Smart politicians make them nervous because they know it is harder to catch them when they inevitably become corrupt politicians. Most "crafty" politicians know to say stupid things from time to time to allay these fears. Do Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden come to mind?

Sorry, but "crafty" is the label the LSM puts on these blow-hards Leftists. The reality is that they are stupid as bricks and can't help but reveal that on a daily basis. The only reason it doesn't get more press is because the media does its best to hide the gaffes.
