Your ObamaCare Fail of the Day

December 20th, 2013 - 7:33 am

It’s unraveling:

Americans whose health-insurance policies are being canceled because they don’t comply with Obamacare requirements will be exempt from the law’s mandate that they carry insurance, under a policy change the Obama administration announced late today.

The change, which administration officials said will affect fewer than 500,000 people, comes days before a Dec. 23 deadline for people to buy new coverage effective Jan. 1. People losing coverage also will be eligible to buy high-deductible “catastrophic” plans that the law normally limits to those under age 30.

The White House is flailing, unilaterally suspending vital chunks of its own law just 11 days before the mandate kicks in.

This is lawlessness of the pettiest and most panicky kind.

An interesting question keeps coming up between me and my peers. It's interesting only because most of us are active/retired military and generally the very essence of patriotic, law-abiding citizens. We pay our taxes on time, we play by the rules....hell, we put our shopping carts in the cart corral during a driving rainstorm. So here's the question:

If the Chief Executive and his agencies are demonstrably lawless and won't obey the rule of law, why the hell should I?

The problem here is that there is a serious risk of the country "losing" its foundational citizens. For all the weirdness out there, MOST Americans fall under that "law-abiding, tax-paying" category. So when you've motivated your salt-of-the-earth population to say - in essence - "F**k it, I'm not playing by the rules anymore", what will happen next? Nothing good.

Merry Christmas, you traitorous insurers who got in bed with this fascist plan. When this mess is over and the dust is clear, I intend to shop ONLY among insurers who did not participate in the exchanges.

Those whose plans were canceled by Nancy and Barry and who can't afford the ridiculously expensive options offered by Nancy and Barry are UNINSURED.

"OKAY, I'M GOING TO MAKE YOU UNINSURED. BUT TELL YOU WHAT, I WON'T FINE YOU FOR IT. NOW. I MIGHT LATER."

There really ought to be more lawsuits filed against these moves.

Hey, plebes! You know that high-deductible plan that was just canceled because we thought it was a piece of crap? Just kidding.

How thoughtful. The administration has decided that plebes be allowed to grab a piece of flotsam, in the absence of lifeboats, as the ship sinks beneath the waves: Tar and feathers.

Ummm.... How about just repeal? And replace with nothing except free market principles? I get nervous about repeal and replace talk. That could end up being the proverbial frying pan and fire. Do you really want congress critters to come up with ANOTHER comprehensive health care bill? How about we follow the Constitution, specifically the 10th A, and let the states come up with their own solutions? The ONLY thing I would want the Feds to do with regard to health care is "regulate interstate commerce" by taking down the barriers between states. That's what they are actually supposed to do, but still didn't even with this monstrosity.
