Stevie Wonder to Boycott Florida

July 17th, 2013 - 7:50 am

Sigh:

The legendary singer-songwriter told a Quebec City, Canada, crowd on Sunday that he would boycott Florida on future tours, along with any other state that has passed similar “stand your ground” legislation.

“I decided today that until the ‘stand your ground’ law is abolished in Florida, I will never perform there again,” Wonder said. “As a matter of fact, wherever I find that law exists, I will not perform in that state or in that part of the world.”

This would hurt, if it weren’t for “I Just Called To Say I Love You” and pretty much everything he recorded after about 1982.

But you have to ask if he’s ever performed for any dictators. Because that’s always been cool.

Just a couple of quick observations:
1. The only ones he is 'punishing' are his FANS. The people that he thinks he has a SYG bone to pick with would never buy a ticket to one of his shows (showing up would probably cost them their lives).
2. SYG was conceived primarily as defensive measure for the BLACK Community vs. street thugs.

Let's just not tell him he's in Florida. It's not like he can see the palm trees.

Anybody cares?
You know, I've decided a long time ago to boycott the United States that I would never hold my concerts there.
