See the “Real” Iron Throne

A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin says this Marc Simonetti painting “has come closer here to capturing the Iron Throne as I picture it than any other artist to tackle it.”

I’ve never had nightmares about a chair before.

"I’ve never had nightmares about a chair before."

You've never sat in a chair designed by Le Corbusier, then.

I thought the mini-series prop Iron Throne was pretty good myself.

Awesome pic. Reminds me in a way of the Shrike from the Hyperion Cantos, by Dan Simmons. Highly recommended, Steve. Amazing writing and astonishing characters. One of my all time favorite scifi series.

Wouldn't want to have to sharpen it....

"Uneasy rest the head which wears the crown," is nothing compared to the butt which warms the Iron Throne.

"What?","I can't hear you either your majesty", "Call the liter bearers to carry me down so I can hear my adviser.", "We are both too old to be yelling all the time."

Awful lot of rickety steps to climb to that throne, or is there an elevator hiding behind that pile of "straws"? Wonder what he is doing up there.

Those aren't straws, and they certainly aren't rickety. The entire throne consists of nothing but enemy swords, welded together into an enormous iron throne.

That said, it certainly can't be comfortable to sit in.
