Obama is in the Doldrums

June 26th, 2013 - 5:12 am

I’m not making this up. That’s what Politico is reporting as straight news, or at least as a thing Politico reports as straight news. Here’s the dope:

But in a damning appraisal, a wide variety of congressional Democrats and presidential scholars said in interviews that there is another decisive factor behind Obama’s current paralysis: his own failure to use the traditional tools of the presidency to exert his will.

Obama does not instill fear — one of the customary instruments of presidential power. Five years of experience, say lawmakers of both parties, have demonstrated that there is not a huge political or personal cost to be paid for crossing the president.

He might not instill fear, but he sure causes a lot of it. I mean, I have kids and I’d kind of like for them to have futures.

Incidentally, you think maybe Obama’s executive inexperience shouldn’t come as some kind of second-term big shock, since he was elected President without any executive effing experience? How about some soul searching on that, Politico?

Current paralysis?? Fear is needed when you need to motivate people to enact your agenda and they might not otherwise do so, right? With Executive Orders and selective enforcement of the law Obama is making great strides to create his vision of society. Then pile on a progressive spurt of regulatorreah ( http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/06/25/In-Regulation-We-Trust ) and we see more than ever of the progressive agenda operationalized.

Executive inexperience? BS - he shifted the paradigm and Republicans can't (or won't) deal with it. He's winning and we're barely fighting...

Seconded. He's winning so big in his anti-America agenda I'm amazed Hillary even wants to succeed him. Who knows, maybe the Clinton plan is a one-term publicity blitz to save Bill's reputation and then skedaddle?

That requires ... you know ... a soul.

Well, he has four years' experience of a kind NOW. Fat lot of good it's done anyone outside of Russia, China and the Muslim Brotherhood.

I'm with you on the subject of fear. I've never really feared my government before. Now I wonder if it's only a matter of time before going overseas is my family's only viable option...
