the F-bomb used to be R rated, now it’s only PG-13. It’s never been X-rated that I know of.

The X rating is for those producers of entertainment who don’t bother to put their works out for ratings review, but simply self declare it off limits to anybody under 18, period. I don’t think the MPAA even ever rates movies X, just NC-17 at it’s most explicit.

Of course the rating criteria are completely subjective and whimsical. Matt Stone said that “South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut” was submitted multiple times, each getting an NC-17, until finally getting an R. The kicker being that each time the objected to scenes were made worse. Finally it got it’s R and the rest is award winning history. Even got an oscar nomination.

How does this relate back to the F-bomb? One of the awards the show won was the MTV Movie Award for “Best Musical Performance”
