It’s very sad that Conservative parents are planning to pull their kids out of school to avoid hearing the President’ speech. Why?

1. It teaches your kids disrespect for the office of the presidency. Not just the Obama presidency, but every presidency.
2. You’re denying your kids the right to decide whether they want to see the president’s speech.
3. You are teaching your kids that they can just choose to walk away from education if they don’t care for, or agree with the subject matter. In other words, you’re teaching your kids to be intellectually lazy.
4. You are denying your kids the opportunity to hear some words that might (shocker!) actually inspire them.
5. Childhood is tough enough, and you are making it that much tougher and more awkward by segregating your kid from the rest of his peers because of your own selfish and irrational feelings about the president.
6. After a childhood of being denied the right to learn new things and think independently, your kid will eventually realize that your need to keep him in a caccoon of right wing ideology was never for his/her own good, but rather for yours, and the life-long resentment and distrust begins.”

Don’t forget that the current Washington gang has developed quite a reputation for itself as dealing very heavy-handedly with all those who disagree with their views. Their push for one-party rule is obvious.

Remember the treatment of hapless Joe the Plumber.
Remember the DHS report on “Right Wing Extremists”.
Remember how the Tea Partiers were first ignored then ridiculed.
Remember how the Town Hall protesters were dismissed as “manufactured” “astroturfers” and, predictably, as racists.
Remember how the true astroturfers then physically assaulted those same Town Hall protesters.

Any reasonable parent should take a cautious stance against Washington’s intrusion into the schoolroom.

As voters realize the emperor has no clothes, Obama’s poll numbers are plummeting, and he realizes his fawning, adoring base is falling apart. He needs to find new bodies to repopulate his personality cult.

We do respect the office of the President. We do not respect the individual presently occupying that office. There’s a huge difference.

This man’s spokesmen, up and including the very highest levels, have been calling us names, mocking us and making accusations ever since he took office.
