Two people familiar with closed-door talks by committee Democrats said a House bill probably will include a surtax on incomes exceeding $250,000, as Congress seeks ways to pay for changes to a health-care system that accounts for almost 18 percent of the U.S. economy.

The proposal is for a surtax for incomes above $250,000 not $200,000. Nice headline though!

Any guesses on what the final threshold for a surtax or otherwise higher income tax rate will be?

Whatever it is, it’ll start with a “2.” It may include a comma, but I wouldn’t bet on it.
