President Bush isn
It is simply unbelievable and disgraceful.
You are correct sir! Always insightful…
If you can complain loudly on TV about the fascists and have no negative represcussions, you lose your argument.
If, however, you want to highlight and issue and you get shouted down as a racist, your books get pulled out of bookstores, and university administrations shut down your events, well there might be some fascist activity going on.
No, Bust still equals Hitler and I’ll prove it to you redstaters:
Bush = Hitler
See how easy it is?
You’re right fascist may not be the correct term. I think what people are searching for is a way to say that Bush is bad or wrong or evil, something to that general effect. Fascists employ military might at home; Bush and his followers are more apt to discredit someone which you can liken to violence in an ultra-capitalistic country such as our beloved. So all of the lefties let’s stop it with the fascist talk. The term is dated and just not sexy or news-worthy anymore. His party
So there you have it. As Mr. Boom says, everything isnt sunshine and light, therefor Bush is bad. But not a facist! Oh, and there was this gay guy in the whitehouse press room! So there!
Discredited? Discredited? Oh my god, now we see the violence inherent in the system!
Get out of the nursery, grow some man fruit, and try to find some values and candidates who don’t make southerners cringe, or STFU.
As Mr. Boom meant to say, “My fellow leftists! We have our verdict, now let us go forth and find the evidence so that we can proceed to a proper, legal, hanging of this Bush feller!”
Fascists Are Liers
Bush = Fascist
Satan is Evil
Bush is Evil
Satan = Hitler
Regretably, this “Bush is a fascist” trope is not uncommon on the left. Several “progressive” acquaintances have proved the point, so they claim, by sending me this:
I have learned enough not to bother pointing out that some of it is so vague that it could apply to almost any government, some of it is just plain wrong, and almsot all of it could easily apply to the US during World War II.
But there is no point in arguing with the unhinged.
The New Mexico Democratic Party is calling for President Bush’s removal from office. Party Chairman John Wertheim says that delegates to Saturday’s state party convention supported a call for the president’s impeachment largely because of “perceived abuses of power and corruption in the Bush administration.” On with Jay to talk about their call for impeachment was Chairman of the New Mexico State Democratic Party John Wertheim
– I think what people are searching for is a way to say that Bush is bad or wrong or evil, something to that general effect. –
They can’t use those terms cos they’d be asked to explain. If they can’t defend then they’d just look like idiots.
I love the “Bush discredits his critics” line. Of course every president until this one feted their detractors. Remember the State dinner for Ken Starr in, say, 1999?
Goliaths=0, Army of Davids=1.
Inquiring minds want to know
[trackback didn't seem to work]
To a large extent, the word fascism has been reduced to mean anything and everything leftists don’t like. In that sense, Bush is a fascist, since leftists clearly hate everything about him. But, at the same time, drilling for oil in Alaska is also fascist, as are SUVs, private school vouchers and bad LSD at a Dead concert.
VP, you hit the nail on the head. The Left is so crazed at this point, just because Right does or wants one thing, they’ll do the opposite.
Now, you have REAL facists screaming that they don’t want to see editorial comics and they completely give in. And those who don’t give in (Daily Illini editors, for example), get fired by the people who DO want to give into them.
What happened to them? Are they so crazed that they’ve given up what they supposedly believe in, just because it would mean that they agree with the other side?
Bush has an “H”, Hitler has an “H”.
Ergo, Bush = Hitler.
A spokesperson for the fascist Taliban gets a scholarship to Yale while the same institution bans ROTC from campus. The US military is evil because of Clinton’s “don’t ask don’t tell” policy but the fascist Taliban is A-OK despite the practice of murdering homosexuals. One has to be a moron or an Ivy Leaguer (redundant?) to be so idiotic. These people wouldn’t know a fascist even if he flew a plane into their building.
Bush can’t speak worth a damn.
Stephen Hawking can’t speak worth a damn.
But what about the rights of Americans to talk to Al Qaeda without having their calls tapped? WHAT ABOUT THEM??!! HUH??
See? Bush IS a fascist. Check and mate.
Hitler had two legs
Bush has two legs!!!
Bush = Hawking Ooooo… I like that one.
“What happened to them? Are they so crazed that they’ve given up what they supposedly believe in, just because it would mean that they agree with the other side?”
Come to The Peoples Republic of Berkeley, CA, the place Cindy Sheehan calls “Smartland.”
Fascist work is mandatory reading. And if Bush were one, they’d all be voting Republican. Ergo…or something like that.
“Bush and his followers are more apt to discredit someone which you can liken to violence in an ultra-capitalistic country such as our beloved. ”
This is the kind of thing that almost makes me wish people like Mr Boom could see fascist violence real close up. Compare and contrast to politically discrediting your opponents… that thing that sounds suspiciously like democracy.
Irony of ironies, its really not necessary to point out the hypocracy that lefties are calling Bush a fascist for calling his enemies names. I really dont think they are capable of seeing why that is hilarious. For the leftist moonbat, the sense of humor is the first casualty.
A great article on which countries hate America, and which are pro-American.
Hate to say this, sir, but you are mixing apples and oranges. The dumb Islamites are all incensed when somone considered a spiritual leader is their view defamed. Pres Bush, whatever he may or not be, is hardly likened (by most of us, conservatives included) to be close to Divine, receiving holy text from the Godhead…in fact, we are discoveringer that he is if not without sin still with a touch of two of imperfection.
As expected – name calling.
Also I am neither a lefty nor a righty. I’m pretty centrist. I believe in the harmonious coexistence of free markets and national sovereignty. Neither present-day ruling opinions on the right or left seek this. There
This is the best you got? America _is_ doing fine, with absolutely nothankstoyou. This blog is retardo.
What leftist that you’ve ever met could actually define fascism? Can’t think of any can you…because there aren’t any.
And isn’t it funny that the NAZI party was the National SOCIALIST German WORKERS Party. You’d think with a title like that I was giving the democrats a new handle.
And wait a minute, Mrs. Boom is worried about “pseudo-journalist/Gay escort service provider Jeff Gannon/James Guckert person…” Was that the guy who was Barney Franks live-in lover that ran an escort service Barney “didn’t” (wink,wink) know about? I know Barney’s not that smart, but they were running it out of his HOUSE.
“Also I am neither a lefty nor a righty. I’m pretty centrist.”
Really? That doesn’t square with your earlier comment about “ultra-capitalist” America, and your likening of criticism to violence. Violence? That’s just silly–or, as physicist Wolfgang Pauli once said, so bad it’s “not even wrong.” If you say something intelligent we’ll treat you as an intelligent person.
Facts have an anti-Bush slant.
Now there’s an internally contradictory sentence. Great to have liberals around for the amusement.
Mr. Boom = Hitler
I think that clears everything up.
Now kneel before Zod!!
I believe in the harmonious coexistence of free markets and national sovereignty.
Ok then. In your view, from what does sovereignity derive?
Is the rightful sovereign of a nation whoever has managed to wrest control of the machinery of state? For example, were the Taliban (Afghanistan) or Charles Taylor (Liberia) or the Khmer Rouge (Cambodia) the rightful sovereigns of their respective nations? Do they deserve to be treated as sole representives of their state in an international context by virtue of having brutalized everyone else in their country into submission?
What of those peoples who live in states which do not reflect historic boundaries for tribal lands? For example, how do you feel about the (lack of) sovereignity of the Kurdish people of great Mesopotamia?
Of course we’re mocking you, Mr. Boom. There isn’t any actual content in your comments worth mocking.
So, discrediting someone is violence now.
The left, the main stream media and the entire “Blame America First” “progressives” have spent the last six years breathlessly trying to discredit Bush at every opportunity to the exclusion of each and every other thing in the world – including bothering to put forth any sort of platform to defend the country from the actual religious facists beating at the gates.
Using this same circular logic, anyone who doesn’t like Bush = Hitler since they are trying to discredit him and discreding someone (in a capatalistic country, of course) is violence.
So, for a recap.
Bush = Hitler
The left = Hitler
Personally I think its time everyone in this country got a Godwin’s Law enema.
Hoss: I bet Oliver Kamm can define fascism. And I’m also sure that Hitchens can, too. (And if he’s not “leftist” now, he could have when he was one.)
Likewise, Orwell could, and he, as far as I know, never stopped considering himself a man of the Left.
Now, most Leftists don’t seem to be able to, but in all fairness I suspect most people in general couldn’t rigorously define Fascism as other than “whatever Hitler and Mussolini thought”. But to their credit, non-Leftists rarely throw the term around wildly.
I seemed to have touched a nerve. I’m very surprised. You live up to every expectation.
1. My reference to ultra-capitalism does make sense as I am a centrist and wish for our leanings to go neither to far right nor left. Check.
2. For you Darwin, the model sovereign nation (you said sovereignity) I recommend would be one which has democracy at its center. The difference between you and me is you, even with the mountain of evidence to the contrary, don’t understand that democracy is validated by the native peoples of a country usually through or after civil warfare. We didn
Aww don’t go away mad Mr Boom.
We compare more people to Hitler before 9AM than most people do all day.
The proofs that Bush = Hilter are hilarious! Someone should start a contest. (BTW, didn’t Tim Blair have a naming contest for Bush? That was a hilarious too.)
“4. You guys are just so clever. Can I join your club? Can I? Can I?”
No. Sorry. Got that damn anti-wanker rule.
Zod laughs at you and your puny Hilter-like assumptions. Zod laughs at Hilter and his petty control of Planet Houston.
Kneel before Zod!!!
Joe K. = Hilter.
I find it interesting that they now have to have “Psych” volunteers at LLL demonstrations because the BDS and drug addled minds of the LLL’s there are about to explode. Don’t believe me? Check out the photos of the last big “demonstration” at Zombie’s website. It is getting so bad that they are even fighting amongst themselves.
As I have said before the LLL’s are about to get very dangerous. Look for them to attempt assassinations, bombings etc. Don’t be surprised if the first splodydope to kill enough people to warrant the MSM to pay attention is not some jihadi but a BDS suffereing LLL “activist”.
May I remind everyone that it was not some Islamofascist who killed Pym Fortyn, it was a drug addled LLL “animal rights activist”.
I recognize Mr. Boom. He is usually represented at every large party or social gathering. A mask of boredom across his face, he secretly yearns to be accepted. He cannot fathom why the girls like the jock (he is sooo stupid), yet he is not considered one of the “smart” guys. Nor would he deign to exercise – why should he try to be like those denigrated muscle heads? In fact, he is the “logical” or “smart” one only in his own mind. Note how he insists that he will manipulate others, yeah! they aren’t so stoic! HE can make them bark like a dog! HE can get them all red-faced and angry! (wryly) What courage! Why, I am SURE that superior-boy does this all the time at the stoic man hang-outs, the VFW bars, the American Legion posts, Camp Pendleton…..Oh, wait, he might get his ass kicked, and he is not stoopid, like they are! Better to sling a few zingers at the trogs from on high.
What a little, little man. Boom? I think not, more like sputter.
“The difference between you and me is you, even with the mountain of evidence to the contrary, don’t understand that democracy is validated by the native peoples of a country usually through or after civil warfare”
Boom, like most of us, was probably born in the West. Is it really centrist to tell those unfortunates born under the jack boot that they must first fight a civil war before they’re ready for democracy? Typical self described ‘centrist’ rebuttal to that is to list every developing country led by a Dear Leader in the world and say ‘okay, fix it’. In other words, unless you can right every wrong it’s simply not worth the trip. And while I find that position morally weak there are more nuanced points that can be made regarding costs, results and associated probabilities of favorable or unfavorable outcomes within the range of possibilities.
And while I think that’s fair and has to be part of the equation it always seems that those that play this card, the so called realists, are just paleocons in search of an argument that will keep us at home and the world at bay.
Close. Actually, it was a CHIMP naming contest for Bush, its just that a lot of the names referenced both simians and national socialism (ie: Chimpy McHitlerBurton, Chimpster W Neoconazi, Chimpy the Texas Wonder-Nazi, etc.) the full list is at timblair.net/ee/index.php/weblog/comments/chimpfest_2005/ but I’m not sure a winner was announced.
Nazis breathe oxygen, Cheney shoots ducks. Therefore:
democracy = enthalpy
And there you go.
Shut up, infidels, and fork over the damned dhimmi tax, ok? We can’t have an ummah if you don’t pay for it!
Laurence Britt sums it up nicely:
You do realize that every country in the world with an intelligence agency (most of them) would be laughing at us if they weren’t so afraid that they will have to go to war with us in the future. So when the history books are written, and you read about this era of US History, will you be shamed for going along like sheep. Or will you continue to hold on to your narrow world view and simplistic perceptions? We shall see.
Cody’s in Berkeley has an entire table devoted to Bush-bashing
President Bush a fascist? Puhleeze!!
Fascism can be distilled down to a simple identifying characteristic. Fascists make the trains run on time.
Have you ever ridden Amtrak???
Ergo, President Bush is not a fascist.
Thanks for the Sunday morning humor. I enjoy your blog.
“will you be shamed for going along like sheep”
How many of your professors support the war? And WE’RE the sheep? As if.
why the fuck should i care if someone or something else is laughing at me?
you sound like someone who spent an eternity getting his ass kicked around the playground and obviously still manages to equate every stimuli that comes your way with that experience.
here’s a clue, free of charge. at some point in any person’s maturation process, there is/should be a big step during which you are meant to realize that the culture of your home is not to blame for the boorish behavior of playground bullies, you blame them and their parents. blaming the culture as a whole is like blaming the entire sport of baseball for mighty Casey’s strikeout. simpleminded? yes. logically correct? no.
i know i probably hit a bit too close to home with this one, so take it home, take it out of it’s box, look at it, put it on the kitchen table for a day or two and then come back to it. it’ll come to you eventually.
i have never understood this grammar school desire to be “popular” when it comes to international diplomacy…
