You know, our Radio Azadi broadcasts used to feature cell-phone reports from student-liberty-fighters in the streets. Now we broadcast Brittany Spears.
How do we know that some sort of money and other materials are not going to the students? It’s not exactly like we want that sort of thing to get out. I just think there is a whole lot more going on in this war than we even think we know….
Worry not. Saddam goes soon, and Iran’s mullahs will fall shortly after Baghdad is liberated, at which point in time American aid will cease to be inconspicuous. Everything I understand of the president and his will towards global democracy points to the inevitable offensive for which we’re all growing impatient.
I fail to see how defeating Hussein will cause “Iran’s mullahs” to fall, unless you’re assuming that we don’t intend to limit this war to our stated objectives but intend, instead, to try and sweep the Middle-East clean of anti-US leaders. (Which, BTW, would not surprise me in the least, considering this Administration’s record, or lack thereof, on honesty with the public so far.)
A business acquaintance told of of an associate who recently dined with some high-up muckety-mucks in Morocco and who was pelted with disturbing questions about why the USofA doesn’t understand that an attack on Iraq will unite the rest of the Middle-East and cause the militant, religious extremists to take over Pakistan’s “moderate” government, attaining control of Pakistan’s nukes which they will then use against the West.
The man was unable to answer because of course many Americans suspect that something like this will happen, but that doesn’t mean we can control Bush/Cheney.
Hard to swallow, huh?

More here, blogged here.
You’re right, Iran is ready for change. I found todays new stories about Al-Queda regrouping in Afghanistan disturbing. Carrot and stick please…
That is disturbing. State and CIA probably share some blame for this. You would think we would have learned from what happened in 1979 …
nice metaphor on iran!
