My mom is on dialysis and if there were a kidney for sale, I’d pawn all my worldly possessions, pets and whatever else to get one for her as I can’t donate one of my own. I know that dialysis costs are crippling and added to that there are numerous medications, procedures and late nite surprise trips to the hospital that really add up. The downside to this argument is that most kidney patients end up on Medicaid in a very short period of time because dialysis is so costly and therefore lack the means to purchase an organ should this idea ever become reality. It’s a catch-22.
