Thoughts on Gorism
If he were to fly commercial economy class, just imagine the cramped quarters, the bad food, the missed flights that would all result in one less documentary, one less speech — and soon an extra degree or two in global warming. A John Edwards cannot get the details right on universal, socialized medicine for the poor, unless he has something like “John’s room,” a 4,000 sq. ft. hideaway within the Golden House, where the mix of calm and electronic appurtenances allow him to work efficiently on our behalf.
Obama can talk of “redistributive change,” “spread the wealth,” and “at a certain point you’ve made enough money” (e.g., did Obama last year stop at $3 million?) — but only if he is freed up from the worry of making ends meet.
In other words, anointed progressives all need a little help if they are going to suffer and work so hard on our behalf. Think Hadrian’s Villa and our emperors writing out imperial directives on our behalf among colonnades and songbirds.
c) The Disconnect. A third element is classic narcissism, or delusions of divinity. The Julio-Claudians somehow convinced themselves that they were godlike and different from mere mortal Romans, and therefore their tastes were actually quite mundane given their deification (sort of like Trimalchio’s ice during a Pompeian summer). Al Gore since 2001 has been given such attention, made so much money, exercised such influence, and experienced such adulation, that by now he really does see himself as a sort of Zeus on Olympus. In that context, a $9 million second cottage is nada — and neither is a week on a Gulfstream 550. John Kerry’s fleet of SUVs and nearly a dozen retreats for us are sumptuous, but for Sen. John Kerry nothing all that great. In other words, elite progressives surround themselves with elite progressives. While they seek psychological exemption for their excess, and while they justify their sumptuary indulgences as necessary perks for their public benefaction, they also very soon simply lose touch. By now a hilltop home at Montecito for an Al Gore is no more than a tract house for the rest of us.
d) The Right Does it — so Why Not Us? At one point, Al Gore defended his indefensible hypocrisy by snapping that at least he was putting his money where his mouth was by investing in green technologies — sort of like a Mafioso defending his vast drug empire by confessing to an occasional snort or two, or Louis XIV defending Versailles by claiming at least he did not build such a palatial compound in Great Britain. In other words, the elite left — cf. Bill Clinton’s nearly decade-long tawdry global jetting to hit the $100 million figure for honoraria, or Chris Dodd’s taste for ill-gotten Irish cottages, or Charles Rangel’s weird tax-free Caribbean rentals — sees that aristocrats and oligarchs on the right live lives of excess all the time. And these selfish conservatives are people who aren’t even for universal health care, affirmative action, or cap and trade! So if the Republican elite can be bad and still live the good life, why can’t the left too who is so good?
And the Wages of All This?
I have referred in the past to the old farming adage of “an upfront crook” being preferable to a smoother hypocritical one. In the early 1980s, Sun-Maid Raisin Cooperative, in the months leading up to its bankruptcy and confiscation of the growers’ revolving fund, used to send us slick brochures, praising its overpaid executives, and a bloated and overpaid work force, who both were “working for the farmer” — e.g., the poor bankrupt raisin growers who thought a cooperative meant shared sacrifice in order to achieve greater long-term profitability. But very soon, we all noticed that the hard-nosed, legendary private packers, who despised cooperatives and those in them, were paying farmers more in upfront money for a ton of raisins that our hallowed Sun-Maid communitarian enterprise ever did over two years. When my blasphemous neighbor quit Sun-Maid and sold for cash, he laughed to me, “You’ll always do better with an upfront crook.” He was right.
I think we can deal with Richard Fuld and the Goldman-Sachs bunch. Ken Lay at Enron was a caricature of a conservative sybarite. All were identifiable for the moral obtuseness and a certain sort of unapologetic greed.
But the combination of liberalism with excess wins the additional charges of insincerity and hypocrisy — and seems to make natural human indulgence all that much more distasteful and hard to criticize.
It is difficult to adjudicate which is worse — greed or hypocrisy. Was a Timothy Geithner more odious because he sought to shave off for himself a few thousands from his taxes, or because as a soon-to-be Sec. of the Treasury and formerly high federal official, he was doing things that his offices are supposed to ensure others do not?
Yet the resulting combination is far greater than the mere sum of the two parts. You see, professed liberal humanitarianism and old fashioned “get mine” breed cynicism among the populace. If one were to believe Al Gore that there is a danger of manmade global warming and we all need to cut back, one might well lose faith when one sees that Al Gore lives differently from the way in which he has convinced you to live. And if one sees that the advocates for forced equality most certainly don’t want to be forced to do anything they advocate, then what are we left with?
Nothing on the national scene has proven more ironic than to see a thin liberal veneer masking traditional self-interest. Crusty conservatives of the more honest sort justified their own riches by the old, much caricatured notion that their hard work and brains trickled wealth down to us poorer that otherwise we would not have; or that they fight in a free arena and anyone brave enough to go out there and battle the lions is likewise free to enjoy their sort of rewards; or that life is inherently tragic and unfair — some succeed and others fail — and to ensure an quality of result usually entails a despotic enforcer and a growing pile of corpses.
I think I prefer an up-front profiteer to Al Gore’s sermons from Montecito. It was why I too finally left Sun-Maid.

Al reminds me more of a preacher who claims once he accepts Jesus into his heart he is saved forever. See, once saved, no sin will deter him from heaven.
Indigo:
After the salvation is comple the collection plate will overflow. A global tax to finance the UN’s madness is the real goal of the whackos just as it has been for fifty years. Al Gore was and is simply a modern version of the snake oil salesman ala Elmer Gantry.
Doctor Hanson, Please run for President in 2012.
Gorism makes the snake oil preacher look like the minor leagues. Evidence is the tears in the eyes of my 10 year old nephew announcing that the world was going to end after having been forced to watch the lies of Inconvenient Truth at “skule”.
The preacher was focussing on adults. Those of Gorism are unafraid to prospect innocents, which makes the preacher look small time on the scale of con “persons”.
Yes, I too, have fantasized about Dr. Hanson as a candidate for the presidency. But honestly, why would I wish that on a man possessed of VDH’s distaste for pretense and obfuscation. Honestly. I couldn’t bear watching him running the character assassination gauntlet of the anything-goes left.
Not to be desired. Let him collect our laurel wreaths in peace.
Yes. One can understand (even relate to) the old, ultra-competitive ‘will-to-power’ that drives so much in a capitalist economy. It exists in Socialist economies too. The difference is that Socialists seek to erase all distinctions between economic and political power. Once that goal is achieved, then all competition must cease. They alone can be permitted to sit upon the peaks. That is why they become so hostile to ideas. Uncontrolled thought can threaten their economic (and thus political) dominance…
Thus a whole new breed emerges: the politician who seeks to control people’s thoughts. Al Gore is a perfect example of someone who demonizes and blacklists people who dare question His Word. Naturally this breeds hypocrisy since he has absolutely no intention of living within the parameters he prescribes – he knows they are deceptions!
VDH,
Always great stuff. I thought the Montecito purchase spoke volumes.
Hope Mr. Gore enjoys the parties.
Don’t give Al too hard of a time. I am sure the toilets in his mansion are low flow.
Its just too bad Al’s mouth wasn’t “low flow” as well.
Al Gore’s mouth and toilets in the same discussion. Perfectly appropriate.
The toilet is useful – why lower it to his status!?
… or maybe of the composting variety.
please substantiate your comments on gore’s private jet use.
Google is your friend.
Hannity not good enough for you?
There’s this.
And this.
And this.
Best of all, most of “this” is three years old.
Now slouch on back over to HuffinGlue Post, MorOn and OfA. They speak Drooling Cretin, just like you.
ROFLMAO!
Read the newspapers.
Bravo, Mr. Hanson. Will the citizenry look up from their Big Macs and away from “Dancing With the Stars” long enough to realize this? Hope so; I love my country dearly, and I know that they do, too.
I don’t know anyone who watches dancing with the stars.
I do. When I can tear myself away from mythbusters.
And on top of all of that did you all notice that great green technoligy sitting atop his mansion? Oh you didn’t see any? Imagine that. If your going to preach to the choir you better be singing with it too.
So, if Al Gore makes money, that means that global climate change isn’t true? Because he has a mansion or two, does that mean that the wonderful oil that is currently killing the ocean isn’t happening? This is another clear example of someone trying to take people’s eye off the ball and focus on ssomething other than the issues.
Not in the least. What the Goracle’s carbon-spewing lifestyle does suggest, however, is that he doesn’t believe his own spiel.
(Especially his pricey waterfront pad in San Francisco- plainly he isn’t expecting the sea levels to rise any time soon).
It’s the hypocrisy, stupid.
What it means is that the preachers of global warming are hypocrites, who want the pe-ons to live one way while they themselves live another way. They don’t walk the talk. NO one is trying to put the focus elsewhere. Until Al Gore lives his life the way he wants everyone else to live, no one wants to hear his story.
Yea, because if someone is shown to not be 100% consistent, then everything else they say is undoubtedly worthy of dismissal?
So in other words, if you think government should be downsized and not in the healthcare business, and you accept Medicare, you’re a filthy hypocrite who can’t say anything legitimate? If you think government shouldn’t be regulating big business and you have your money in a FDIC-insured bank, then you again, are a worthless hypocrite. If you don’t believe in non-essential government programs and think the government can do no good, yet you enjoy the public Internet which was conceived and funded initially by the government, you’re a worthless hypocrite.
Look at your own glass house.
Certainly looks as though Gore – by his very actions – believes that global climate change isn’t true, doesn’t it?
Al Gore does not live as if he believes the tale he has told concerning AGW. Why should we? I have a simple life compared to these elitists, yet they want to drive up my cost of living when they already have the millions in the bank to absorb increased expenses. Rubbish, to them all.
What it means is that Al Gore either doesn’t believe it to be true or wants you to sacrifice so he can live in luxury and not warm anymore. It’s just a con. If Gore is so sure that man is causing global warming, why isn’t he setting an example? Every carbon atom in the atmosphere is a problem right? Why isn’t he spending as much time reducing his carbon footprint as he is saying everyone else must reduce theirs?
If algor really believed his spiel, he would not only live more simply but also spend his vast fortune (c’mon, can he REALLY NEED that much money; at some point, as Obama noted, you’ve earned “enough”) planting trees and erecting windmills. He’d teleconference his speeches. That he does none of the above speaks volumes.
I have a not-terribly-rich Obama-worshipping friend who’s not quite sure that manmade global warming isn’t real. I’m a conservative who believes it’s all a hoax, driven by greedy anti-capitalists who will become even more wealthy when cap ‘n tax passes.
Yet I do recycle, re-use grocery bags, drive a small car (an average of 2000 miles annually), and to top it off, donate blood fairly regularly. She doesn’t recycle, re-use, or donate blood and both she and her husband drive SUVs. It’s not just the ultra-rich who are hypocrites. Oh well, we both live in homes that are much smaller than algor’s.
But you do get the pleasure of watching them go broke trying to keep gas in those two SUV’s. Until gas is a six or eight dollars a gallon, and they can barely afford to pay their utility bills, the reality of what is being done to them won’t become apparent. Although I think many on the left believe man made GW is a scam, it’s become such a partisan issue they are reluctant to give ground.
If algor really believed his spiel, he would not only live more simply but also spend his vast fortune planting trees and erecting windmills (c’mon, can he really NEED that much money; at some point, as Obama preaches, you’ve earned “enough”). He’d teleconference his speeches. That he does none of the above speaks volumes.
I have a not-terribly-rich Obama-worshipping friend who’s not yet ready to say that manmade global warming isn’t real. I’m a conservative who believes it’s all a hoax, driven by greedy anti-capitalists who will become even more wealthy when cap ‘n tax passes.

Every living human generates carbon dioxide. Al Gore should set an example for all the rabid believers of “anthropegenic global warming that will destroy our planet” and kill himself. Once his body decays, his carbon footprint will be zero. Perhaps his sacrifice will convince all the leaders of the IPCC to do the same.
You can’t blame Jeremy for being defensive. You would be too, if you had swallowed ManBearPig’s line of BS.
Cheer up, Jeremy. You’re not the only one who was suckered – hence Gore’s ability to purchase a non-green megamansion and live in luxury that would turn 19th century British aristocrats emerald with envy could they see it.
Sounds to me like you are guilty of the charge you seek to lay at VDH’s feet.
Whether or not Gore is a hypocrite is completely seperate from the oil spill.
And “killing the ocean” seems vastly overstated. Some animals, including humans, will be affected. But the ocean will be fine. Take a deep breath.
I recycle as much as I can, I turn off my lights as much as I can to conserve energy, I drive a hybrid car because I think being wasteful is wrong. What I don’t like is someone like Gore looking down his nose at me, telling me I need to cut back and make sacrifices, while he lives like there’s no tomorrow, going through energy like it’s going out of style. He puts the fate of the planet on my shoulders, like the gas I use in the winter to heat my home because it’s my fault I live in Canada is a mortal sin. Yup, nothing like a liberal hypocrite.
Oil is a naturally occuring substance. It oozes from beaches, rocks, plains, mountains. Al has been good with shaming liberals into trying to scam the rest of us into redistributing our wealth, while he accumulates it all. it will end, when people rise up, and fight back. Remember in November
Geeeeez , climb back under your rock troll or follow the other troll to Huffrickington
It goes like this:
“We can protect ourselves from those who do evil for the sake of evil, but only God can protect us from those who do evil for the sake of good”
Exactly and bravo to you for saying the one line that needed to be said at the summation of this article. (Facts get inconvenient don’t they?)
Al started a hoax which started the whole world thinking they were going to be a frying
But what Al didn’t see was that the joke would be on he
Oh, no, Al increased his lies which started the whole world laughing
Oh, if he’d only seen that the joke would be on he
Al looked at the skies, running his hands over his iced up eyes
And he fell from his royal throne, cracking his head on the ice and choking on all the chicken little things that he’d said
Till Al’s scam finally died, which started the whole world living
Oh, if he’d only seen that the joke would be on he
Oh, no, that the joke would be on he
Not too shabby!
Able to guzzle more energy than dozens of normal men! Producing more hot air than a locomotive! Able to pile up carbon credits higher than a tall building in a single bound!!!
Look UP in the sky! It’s ChickenLittle! It’s FlyingSnakeOilSalesman! It’s the Sultan of Hanging Chads! It’s the Ayatollah of Heat! It’s the High Priest of the Inquisition! No, it’s CarbonMan in a private jet painted green! And now following in the tradition of other great men such as Jimmy Carter and Yasir Arafat, he is the proud recipient of a Nobel Prize!!!
CarbonMan, strange visitor from an alternate reality who came to Earth with claims and scary predictions far beyond those of any sane and honest man, disguised as Fat Albert, and now joined by other members of the Royal GreenLeague such as BioFuelHummerMan and EcoCleaningWoman, they all fight a never ending battle for science-fiction, hypocrisy, power grabbing, money grubbing and the Hollywood way!
Hey – that’s good! where can I buy the comic?
FeralCat, loved the comments on Gorism.
Uranium is Carbon Man’s kryptonite.
For his birthday, maybe we can send him some yellow cake.
Global warming is regarded by the sheeple as true, by those who can think for themselves as false and by the power mad and money grubbers as … … useful.
- Seneca the Younger paraphrased
The Church of Global Warming says the earth is dangerously heating up, but I know that it is not, for I have seen the snow and ice and have felt their bitter cold, and I have more faith in snow and ice than in the Church of Global Warming, and it’s High Priests.
- Ferdinand Magellan paraphrased
What would be the effect of this Global Warming fraud and coercion, if successful? To make part of the world fools and part hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth. Al Gore and the Global Warming fraudsters and fanatics have converted simple changes in the weather into an engine with which to try to enslave mankind to filch wealth and power to themselves. They, in fact, constitute the real Anti-Scientists.
- Thomas Jefferson paraphrased
Wonderful imagery–the mental picture of Chubby Al huffing and puffing in outrage as he flails angrily around in the wrinkly Superman long pajama suit has made my day.
Another awesome post. If I could only convince my brother to
stop worrying.
Harrison Ford shows that his environmental concern is just as shallow as Al Gores:
http://deceiver.com/2010/04/30/environmentalist-harrison-ford-i-only-fly-one-plane-at-a-time/
“…In light of criticism Ford has received from envrionmentalists about his use of airplanes, CNSNews.com asked him if his environmental activism coupled with his flying was a “contradiction.”
Ford said, “They’re quite right. I’ll start walking everywhere when they start walking everywhere.”…”
I have a simpler view.
Al Toad is an obese, disgusting, criminal profiteer.
Don’t forget the gender angle. Women love hypocrisy, from the “correct” sort of folks that the glitterati love. Look at the View. Whoopi says Roman Polanski was not guilty of “rape-rape” … because he’s a big shot.
Al Gore will never lose the love and adulation of women who worship celebrity. Which is to say, most women in America and the West. A quick trip to your Supermarket and perusal of the check-out counter celebrity magazines, which are the only stuff found there (it is assumed men do not shop, or even exist in the consumer marketplace) will confirm this attitude.
Women in fact whole-heartedly embrace hypocrisy to the highest level. Look at “Selling New York” on HGTV, with its parade of phonies, wealthy folks parading as secular saints, loopy New Age “cleansing shamans” and astonishing amounts of money sloshing around. Or Charlie Sheen, who allegedly held a knife to his wife’s throat … on Christmas Day! Yet remains the bad boy women hope against hope to tame.
You know, I’ve seldom been more disappointed in a human being than I was with Whoopi for that statement. Why the women and men, mothers and fathers in that audiance didn’t at least boo, or better yet, get up and walk out, I’ll never understand, not to mention why feminists across the board weren’t screaming to boycott the view until she was removed. That’s just about the most shameful utterance I’ve heard in a long time.
I won’t touch on Gore because, well, the AGW crowd won’t listen to it (“so what if he made money off it, don’t you conservatives believe in capitalism” etc, etc, ugh…), and the rest I could write would be agreeing with the Choir. Excellent post, Dr. Hanson
So there’s the hypocrisy of the elite like Gore and the others.
Then there’s the hypocrisy of calling out swat units to make it look like tea party grannys are a threat when it’s obviously the left that’s violent.
If not for Fox, talk radio and blogs like this we’d be sunk; persuaded by the big main media groups that Gore and Pelosi and Obama are doing the best thing and their opposition is racist, seditious, and just plain bad.
Actually there are few blogs like this one. This is the best. Thanks again VDH.
Radical environmentalism has died? Ummm . . . no.
It’s a proven business model at this point. Al Gore has become the Ron Popiel for the 21st century, only he’s gone one step better. The product is odorless, colorless and completely invisible. No widgets to keep track of, no inventory, no warehousing. And advertising is free through the MSM. It’s both lucrative and easy because it’s ALL in the marketing. It’s the new televangelism for a new religion!
Nicely put!
Let’s face it. He is smarter than Bernie Madoff. In his con, the suckers have nothing to show for their investment in him, but he is free to enjoy the spoils.
Environmentalism is the modern-day pagan religion (see Google: pantheism), Algore is its pope, and I remain a happy heretic!
VDH:
I disagree that if you scrape the thin veneer of liberal platitude off Algore’s hide what you’ll find underneath is a garden variety greedy hypocrite out to make a buck. Gorism is — excuse me, was — a far more significant movement than that. Sure, the Goracle was like an old time charlatan at a Bible revival, seeking to heal the planet by placing his hands on Mother Earth’s benighted head, while his minions behind us picked our pockets. That’s bad, but worse still was Gore putting his heft and both feet on the neck of the scientific community around the world while they were trying to legitimately investigate a scientific question. When the politicians, the media, and all the other ignorant faithful bow down to a false idol like Gore, you get ten years of junk science in return.
It could have been worse. We’ve seen this story before and it’s not just about greed or hypocrisy or simple con games. It’s about telling the Big Lie and getting away with it. How is it possible in the Twenty-first Century that a functional illiterate like Gore got away with a very Big Lie on a scientific question?
All I can say is, good thing he didn’t blame climate change on the Jews, or the Europeans (and possible us) would’ve started roundin’ them up again. That’s the real danger behind Goracles. Stupidity is infectious, and it can trump logic, rationality and even science — often with dire consequences.
A couple of clever fellows put it equally well:
Freedom is a vigil that must be maintained and defended, lest the creeping forces of the altruist take hold.
- Anopheles
The strongest argument for a government of limited powers is that you should never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
- Clayton E. Cramer
Typical conservatism: if you can’t beat them intellectually, then smear them! But Al Gore is only a messenger who is communicating what the right-wing tries to silence. So smear Gore all you want: I’m going to listen to the scientists which are overwhelmingly in agreement about AGW.
Oh, yes the scientific “consensus”. The science is “settled”, Al has told us.
On the nature of consensus science, I believe Micheal Crichton said it best:
“I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you’re being had.
Let’s be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world. In science consensus is irrelevant. What is relevant is reproducible results. The greatest scientists in history are great precisely because they broke with the consensus.
There is no such thing as consensus science. If it’s consensus, it isn’t science. If it’s science, it isn’t consensus. Period.”
Face it, every proponent of AGW bases thier forecast on a huge set of assumptions, with the premises hotly contested within the larger scientific community. And those models have not been adequate to predict even one or two years out, much less for multiple decades. The scientists that have had the best record on predicting temperature movements have been the astronomers monitoring solar mininima and maxima. And you call conservatives unscientific?
bout Albert Einstein. When told that most scientists supported his theory of relativity, he reminded the reporter that it would only take one scientist to prove him wrong.
Jason, has it occurred to you that what you say, in the eyes of some, makes you a dupe, a sucker, a sap, a mark? I am one of those “some.”
You need to take a step back and look at who is trying to silence whom. If you lived the history of this gaia movement, you might have a different perspective.
Jason,
If what VDH says about Gore is true, and there is evidence to support it, then VDH is being fair. If Gore and others deride the big carbon footprint and then they leave one, it’s beneficial to know when choosing a political party or giving credence to someone’s opinion.
In other words, if Al Gore leaves a huge carbon footprint, carbon footprints must not be that bad. If he’s a Democrat…it’s an imprint on the party.
And where might these so called “scientists” be found?
The CRU has been forced to admit that nobody can replicate their studies “proving” global warming, because they threw away the raw data.
NASA has been forced to admit that even though they told everybody they had an independant data source, they have been using the CRU data for years.
Hansen has been shown to be a fraud. Jones has admitted that there has been no warming for the last 15 years.
There never was more than a few dozen “scientists” at the core of the AGW scam. They got themselves into positions where they could serve as gate keepers, to make sure that no study that contradicted their work would see the light of day.
The truth is that there is no science behind this myth. There are only a handfull of models, models that even their makers admit are woefully inadequate and which fail when trying to predict current climates using historical data.
The ground based network is so contaminated with UHI, microsite issues, and undocumented changes, that it’s accuracy is at best +- 5degrees C. But we are told that through super secret methods, they have been able to fix the problems and we are able to detect changes in the hundredths of a degree per decade range. BS on that.
The so called 2500 authors behind the IPCC report, turns into the same dozen or so names that have been pushing this mess for years. The 2500 hundred number was arrived by counting up all of the names on every study included by the IPCC committee. When duplicate names were reduced, this number was reduced to less than 1000. Of those, only a dozen or so worked on the official summary. This summary was objected to by most of the scientists involved in the IPCC. But the objections were dismissed. As one of the committee members put it, they had to make the situation seem as bad as possible in order to put pressure on the various govts to take action, now.
The IPCC broke it’s own rules over and over again. Despite the claim that 100% of the references that they used were from peer reviewed major journals, 36% turned out to be little more than press releases from activist groups and a few college thesis.
A number of critical studies were rejected for inclusion because they failed to meet the cut off date, despite the fact that they had indeed been published in time. A number of studies that supported the committees conclusion were included despite the fact that they were published after the cut-off date.
The process is and was political, not scientific from the get go.
Maybe Post Normal Scientist are overwhelmingly in agreement but those who still follow rational science do not agree with the Post Normal Science being put forward.
Hey, I’m a scientist. My chemistry degree and later training give me an understanding of the physical chemistry of gases, their interactions with water, and their response to electromagnetic radiation. In other words, I understand the physical chemistry of the greenhouse effect far more than nearly all climatologists. And, I say quite plainly that no climatologist has ever shown that the greenhouse effect (studied in air-tight, hot, very high humidity greenhouses in an effort to optimize plant growth and minimize energy costs) applies to our planet with its open, miles-thick atmosphere, variable temperatures, variable humidities, variable altitudes, winds, 75% water surface, 10% ice-covered surfaces, and a biomass that reacts to changes in carbon dioxide concentrations. Do you agree that planet Earth might not react the same as a greenhouse? Every true scientist will agree that you cannot extrapolate from a lab experiment to a planetary environment. It’s like examining a skin cell culture and then predicting human behavior.
Climatology is a poor excuse for a scientific field. It rarely meets the rigor of true sciences such as chemistry and physics. Climatologists rely far too much on incomplete and inaccurate data, poorly designed computer models, and conclusions drawn before the data is gathered. There are a few true climatology scientists out there, but their voices are both overwhelmed and suppressed by the pseudoscientists who seek publicity and future funding.
Everyone needs to recognize the real enviornmentalists, our nation’s farmers and ranchers. They are the only ones who have the natural ability to actually sequester the carbon and facilitate the natural conversion to oxygen. Oak woodlands, orchards, row crops, forests and open lands all do the work that Al Gore wants to take aaaaalllll the money and the credit for.
Do you know that in just about five years, farmers and ranchers could propagate almost every Endangered plant and animal species to abundance just like they have propagated every foooooooood plant and animal product to abundance. Isn’t it embarassing to think that America has Endangered Species when it could be so quickly and easily remedied? But it’s all really about the environmentalists/global non-profits taking control of or removing the people from private property or shutting down access to our natural resourses.
And so far, they’ve succeeded, but we know now that we’ve been haaaad big time, folks.
You might also wish to take a minute to realize that evnironmentalists have it pretty soft, to say the least. They mean-mouth corporations but work hard to tweak their computer templates for the next round of corporate grant funding to submit to any and all profiteering, baaaaaaad corporations.
What if Cap and Trade passes? The truckers won’t be able to afford to retrofit their fleets and delivery of (gasp) organic produce or even (yikes) toilet paper to the supermarkets will slow waaaaay down and rationing will occur. Does everybody out there realize that there’s only a four day supply in your supermarket?
Prob’ly not.
If their Cap and Trade agenda prevails…you and they just will not have foreseen reality.
What a lot of mental masturbation, and prolixity vomit, all to say Gore is a Hypocrite. Within the larger issue of Climate Change, in this case, this thought process is a pure case of logical fallacy, specifically circumstantial ad hominem.
Wow. I learned alot from this post. Your parents must be so proud.
“Within the larger issue of Climate change”…. we see that the models are perhaps just as lacking, if not more so, than when they predicted unending cooling. In fact, the most basic question has not yet been answered, and certainly not settled: What is the ideal “climate” we should pursue assuming we can make change?
Wow. You sure got your money’s worth out of that thesaurus today! All those $3 words, and still you managed to say nothing of any value whatsoever.
Might I suggest a career in politics?
Or possibly a move out of your mother’s basement?
yawn. can’t find anything to attack on substance, so guess we will attack the gore person because he is rich and pays his taxes. yawn.
new headlines for you, you’ll love them:
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE HAS STOCK IN GREEN COMPANIES.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE GOES TO TALK IN OWN AIRPLANE.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE HAS BIG HOUSE.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE MAKES ANOTHER SPEECH.
yawn
I think the comments here are actually full of substance. It’s just that libs like you can never take criticism and/or look at things logically.

GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE IS NOT A SCIENTIST AND KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT SCIENCE.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE GORE IS MORE GREEDY THAN ANYONE ON WALL STREET.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE THE EVIDENCE FOR IT HAS BEEN FAKED.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE THE HISTORY OF CLIMATE PROVES IT SO.
laugh!
no AGW is false because it has been soundly dicredited by the AGW scammer themselves, i.e. Hansen, Mann and the crowd at the CRU. Furthermore, real scientists heretofore forced into silence have spoken up and told us of the abused, missing and fraudulent data.
So take your snarky postings elsewhere.
When many liberals want to disagree, it isn’t by the topic as much they try to discredit their opponent on these qualifications:
If you’re rich, you’re bad. If not you’re good.
If you’re white you’re bad. If you’re not you’re good.
If you’re a man you’re bad. If you’re not you’re good.
If you’re Christian you’re bad. If not you’re good.
So you may think everybody thinks in those terms because you do. But you ignore forming opinions by judging the behaviors themselves. You ignore actions and put more credence in superficialities.
I do agree with the last four sentences, however not the way you had expected.. Barnum had a word for you. Remember what it was?
My friend – it is not that global warming is false because Algore owns a couple of mansions, a houseboat and a private plane. That is not the conclusion to be drawn here. The conclusion to be drawn is even worse. Algore owns a couple of mansions, a houseboat and a private plane and has a carbon footprint the size of a small third world country – therefore – Algore is demonstrating via his actions that even he does not believe the crap he is pushing on us! Forget the scientific facts of the matter for just a moment. Mr. Gore is using the AGW movement to create the kind of lifestyle for himself that he is claiming causes AGW! He is either profiting from junk science OR he is creating a hedonistic lifestyle for himself despite its effect on the environment. The only PROOF that can be observed here is that Algore is a skumbag – either way.
GLOBAL WARMING IS FALSE BECAUSE THE SCIENCE BEHIND IT HAS BEEN REFUTED.
Global warming is false because the people that based it on a false premise then faked the data and “hid the decline” of temps to promote this psuedo religion in order to secure grant money and publish. Global Warming is false because those same people admitted they faked the data. Only illogical zealots defend admittedly faked data. Or charlatans. Come on dude, this is “Piltdown Man” x 1 million with the motive being profit instead of a little academic embarrassment for a rival.
The real test is whether Gore will be called before congress and forced to testify about this fraudulent investment scam. If we demand it, they’ll have no choice.
If you own stock in a company that made a decision based on Gore’s rhetoric– and plenty of them did– you have an actionable claim. The boards of directors of these companies– and Al Gore himself– owe you an explanation. Demand it.
This is the way to shut Al Gore down: sue the SOB.
oh yeah, and this blinding essay was brought to you by the HOOVER INSTITUTE of global warming denial.
.
As opposed to the ElectroLux Institute of Natural Climate Cycle Denial ?
What caused the last Ice Age to end, some 15,000 years ago ?
Was it them Cave Men, driving around in their SUV’s ?
Technically speaking the most recent ice age has not ended yet.
We are still in it.
more evidence of the lack of something to say
The earth is indeed at the tail end of an ice age. We can call that climate change if you want, but cows farting produces more CO2 than driving your car today.
Given your defense of Gore in #23, does this mean that you are admitting to be a hypocrite?
Al Gore is not scientifically literate…”The Earth is very Hot” claiming it was several million degrees…short hand the core of the Sun!
http://hotair.com/archives/2009/11/18/video-the-goracle-on-geothermal-temperatures/
Here is a great paper on why he sun, earth’s orbit and Solar variation creates climate change…

The fact that you were ever a believer of his speaks volumes about your judgment. The fact that you opine about it now also shows how out of touch you were until that point.
I hope you’ve learned something. It’s ashamed it’s taken you this many years in your life to get it. You are supposed to be an elder, not a fool.
Al’s no better then Jesse Jackson who told companies that if they didn;t give in to his Rainbow Coalition, he’d say they were a racist company. Al is a hypocrite. Ed Begley is the only celebrity around that seems to get it and has adopted his lifestyle to be green. God bless his wife.
Compare the lives of these materialistic hypocrites to the legacy of Sam Walton; he lived in a ranch style house and drove to work in a pickup truck.
A couple of other points about Gorism:
I’m not conflating Gorism with Nazism, just making the point that irrational ideas can take root where you would least expect them. Seventy odd years later it’s still hard to understand how a culture that produced Kepler, Copernicus, Leibniz, Cantor, Riemann, Heisenberg, Einstein, etc, etc — also produced a Hitler.
It wouldn’t surprise me if in the future — assuming Western Civilization comes to its senses — we don’t consider Gorism & the Global Warming hoax on a par with, say, the Chinese Cultural Revolution, not in the sense of the damage it did to our society, but in the way it was emblematic of what was wrong with us during this time period in our history.
I agree, there is something wrong with our society now, in more ways than one.
But, Obama, Gore, Soros and the rest will only make our country worse, financially, culturally and civilly.
We will see in November, if Americans are willing to change and finally take responsibility and vote them out.
If not, they win and America loses.
Tom, at #5, You are so correct about Gore and low flow, I cuss “Al Gore” toilets and “Al Gore” lightbulbs. As usual Dr Hanson has so eloquently elucidated the thoughts of many of us. And it’s fitting this thread contains my boiling down of VDH’s statement into the vernacular of our times. The problem with these exalted Progressives is “they don’t think their $h!t stinks”.
The story here should not be about Gore. The story should be about why the American people still substantially worship Gore after his hypocrisy has been exposed, more or less, for about three years.
And no comments about his poetry? Here, enjoy:
One thin September soon
A floating continent disappears
In midnight sun
Vapors rise as
Fever settles on an acid sea
Neptune’s bones dissolve
Snow glides from the mountain
Ice fathers floods for a season
A hard rain comes quickly
Then dirt is parched
Kindling is placed in the forest
For the lightning’s celebration
Unknown creatures
Take their leave, unmourned
Horsemen ready their stirrups
Passion seeks heroes and friends
The bell of the city
On the hill is rung
The shepherd cries
The hour of choosing has arrived
Here are your tools
One thin September soon (that’s gibberish, I know).
a floating incontinent fat man disappears
in visions of the midnight sun with lots of snow.
Vapors rise as quickly as a sad neurosis
and fever settles on an acid sea; therefore
Neptune’s bones dissolve from osteoporosis.
Snow glides from the mountain—set off by some villain—;
ice in father’s gin—floods of salt; for a season,
a hard rain comes quickly, for we do like Dylan.
Then dirty Al is parched from a sad lack of beer.
Still, let’s party! Kindling is placed in the forest
for the lightning god’s celebration. Over here,
unknown creatures, like Bear-pig, with his human face,
take their leave, unmourned, and I hope your heart is stirred
as Horse-men must ready their stirrups for a race.
An old passion seeks heroes and friends who are young,
though the bell of the city bike needs a good clean.
On the hill is a ladder with a broken rung.
The shepherd cries, “Hey, voters are deluded fools!
The hour of choosing a global hoax has arrived!
I give you man-made warming; here, then, are your tools!”
…groan…
that didn’t even rhyme.
…come to think of it, that reminds me of another epic acromonogrammatic tome,
“Ode to a lump of green putty I found in my armpit.”
“Ice fathers floods for a season”
The repeated f sound is a poetical device called alliteration. In context the line is nonsensical, but it is alliterative.
What a mokes this gluttonous Gore guy is.
In case this poetic treasure is rediscovered in some dusty library in the year 2100 and Al’s signature is not on it, historians will have no difficulty identifying the author. Conside this phrase:
“floating continent disappears.”
Now, which of the continents would that be? I learned in grammar school that there are seven continents, counting Antartica as one, but I did not learn that one of them floats. Maybe Al is referring to a man-made structure of the future which will have all the same features as a continent, except that it is man made and floats. Al is a prophet you know, just ask him.
And just what have you done for the environment? Only have one gas guzzling, polluting Hummer? Fly just one private jet to your Obamabashing outings, instead of those supplied by the Party, But it is ‘only used when it’s needed.?”
Do you have a point, or are you just trying to serve as a distraction?
Ah, yes, I always fly to Tea Parties via private jet.
Tom, you have the IQ of organic arugula, but hey, I would fly from Tea Party to Tea Party via private jet if I had the moola. That wouldn’t make me a hypocrite, because I’m not running around telling other people Gaia is doomed if they don’t lower their energy consumption.
Lefties are so hypocritical, they’ve lost the ability to even recognize obvious hypocrisy. They’re so brain-dead that they don’t recognize what gullible marks, what complete suckers Gore has rightly judged them to be. It doesn’t even move the needle in their vacant heads.
(“Uh, duh, I’ll say something about tea parties. Yeah, er, that’ll show them!’)
Thanks for the entertainment though.
Amazing. So much jaw-dropping ignorance, overweening arrogance and weapons-grade stupidity compacted and concentrated into one tiny little post. How DO you do it?
Here I have to agree with Mark. I am not quite sure what your point is.
The article in question calls Gore to the carpet on his hypocritical lifestyle. I would think you would be in agreement with the article, given your sentiments on private jets and Hummers.
The Goracle, who flies private jets unendingly and owns a fleet of SUVs, as well as a hand full of lavish carbon spewing giant estates, has a larger carbon footprint than every commenter here combined…times 10.
Feralcat what dumpster have you been hiding in! Missed the well crafted musings. I was tossed from Real Clear, on probation now; free speech on someone else’s dime aint so free after all. Victor you assume the left is wise and humble – big mistake.
Calling environmentalism a religion is really, really stupid. Environmentalism concerns the natural, religion concerns the supernatural etc. etc. etc. Unless we want to redefine religion to mean all personal values of all kinds, in which case any point of view or belief is religion. The continued destruction of the natural world by shortsigted human action is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest long term problem the world faces almost by definition. I know that sucks because it means people might have to change their habits, but it’s true. While meritorious in some part, much of the Gore-bashing is just intended to discredit liberals, hippies, environmentalists, and anyone who holds some things higher than the almighty dollar. Stop talking about the public personalities and start talking about the issues.
“Calling environmentalism a religion is really, really stupid.”
I agree. However, like religion, except for a very small number of sincere believers, most followers are blatant hypocrites who are more interested in how closely others are adhering to their beliefs than their own behavior.
And, unlike most established religions, environmentalism has no text that followers can be held to. So anything goes. I can call myself an environmentalist because I recycle my newspapers…even if I do nothing else. My coal-fed electric clothes dryer can burn through electrons on a sunny day…but if I use those cloth grocery bags I’m a friend if the Earth. Or, as a co-worker ironically excalimed this morning…he wants to go fishing in the gulf this week before the damned oil industry ruins the fishing. Never mind that he’s burning plenty of oil in his sport fishing boat.
There are no standards. It is, in fact, the perfect liberal religion
Steve4N,
I don’t know how else you would define it. It’s as close as I’ve ever seen most Leftists to devout worship of thought or idea. It’s certainly an idea taken on faith of the unseen.
No, religion is when you take something on faith, with no need for facts. Even more extreme is when you ignore the facts in order to keep believing what you want to believe.
Such as your belief that we are destroying this planet. No rational person believes this, because the facts do not support such a position. On the other hand, you don’t need facts, you have your faith to tell you what to believe.
Amen!
it seems to me that the enviros took their eye off the ball. Why are they fighting CO2 that is invisible (and emitted by every living person) when they could be fighting pollution? No one will argue the need to combat littering and to properly dispose of refuse. Even I recycle, and I build highways for a living! The rationale behind the Global Warming shenanigans is all about funding and exploitation of rampant ignorance. It has nothing to do with saving the earth.
There is an especially hot place in hell for hypocrites like the Goracle.
Stevennnn writes:
“The continued destruction of the natural world by shortsigted human action is one of the greatest, if not THE greatest long term problem the world faces almost by definition. I know that sucks because it means people might have to change their habits, but it’s true.”
As I understand Gore’s wildest fantasies, the people who will suffer calamities are all poor people in poor nations, such as the poor suckers in Bangladesh. I will suffer only if some newly created world government, another Gore fantasy, takes what I own and redistributes it to the poor suckers in Bangladesh. I will happily fight to the death against such a world government and do so on principle just as George Washington and all the founders of this nation did. So, you see, Stevennnn, some people will have to change their behavior but some will not – that’s life, the same as it has always been. Grow up.
Al Gore is quite simply one the the greatest salesman of all time.
In the 1500′s the excesses of the Catholic clergy finally sparked a civil war in Western Europe. Some would say it continues in today’s Northern Ireland. Are we seeing the beginning of something similar in our time?
What the hell are you talking about ? The Troubles are a political disagreement about British rule in Northern Ireland that TENDS to break down along economic and religious lines. Save your Catholic bashing for your KKK buddies, ok.
i know this article is about al gore but its still a little ridiculous to attack a dude who supports cleaning up the environment whenever possibly the biggest oil spill ever is threatening not just animals but people’s lives and their jobs. All y’all talk about this like its a hoax, but as you can see with the oil spill: humans are destroying the environment. Also, I never understood what exactly the reward was for the (vast majority) of scientists who perpetrate the hoax of climate change? last time i checked most professors, at least ones i know, don’t make a whole lot of money. what reason do they have to lie about their data analyses? I think its an awesome conspiracy theory because it is way more mind blowing to actually accept the idea that the people that study the climate and the earth for a living could be right, and humans are starting something that will destabilize countries around the world, cause massive changes in our lifestyle, force migrations of people away from affected regions and spur countless other consequences. It is simply easier and less scary to believe that we aren’t hurting the environment at all, and even if we are, it doesn’t matter anyway.
Taking your premises in order;
1. An oil spill is an unintended consequence, not a deliberate act, unless you believe it is the result of sabotage. Therefore, conflating it with a statement like “humans are destroying the environment” is little more than an ad hominem attack on humanity as a whole.
2. There can be rewards other than purely monetary ones for joining, or being the leaders of, a “movement”:
A. The prospect of power over others.
B. The feeling of “togetherness” with others of a similar mindset in what amounts to a mutual admiration society.
C. The feeling of superiority derived from the belief that one is the sole possessor of superior wisdom that the rest of the world will one day be forced to acknowledge.
D. The ability to use the power of the movement to take personal revenge on one’s perceived “enemies”.
For further exploration of these factors, read “The True Believer” by Eric Hoffer.
3. The people who study the Earth and its atmosphere for a living, the geophysicists, geologists, meteorologists, and climatologists, are the ones who have been pointing out the flaws in the AGW belief system for the last decade. Those who consider AGW to be gospel point primarily to computer models as their evidence, which rarely track with actual physical conditions. This is the heart of the “Climategate” controversy; the fact that those models show strong indications of having been deliberately and cynically manipulated to achieve the result the “believers” desired for reasons of sociopolitical “change” and power. This is not science.
4. I don’t believe anyone who questions the AGW “faith” claims that humans do no harm to the environment. However, they do tend to maintain that the AGW believers are demanding a “solution” that will not solve the stated ostensible problem. The AGW “believers”, by comparison, fiercely oppose solutions which would have a high probability of success (i.e., nuclear power), on purely “philosophical” grounds. Their demanded solution will not eliminate, or even reduce, “global warming”, even if it does exist beyond normal planetary climate fluctuation (which is a natural cycle).
It will, however, do a rather thorough job of returning the world to the Dark Ages, in which a few powerful and privileged people held sway over a larger number who were cold, hungry, and forced to work from dawn to dusk to support their “enlightened” betters.
The fact that this is no longer the case in most of the Western world is something the “true believers” seem to deeply resent. And their “solutions” are little more than a uniquely cruel way of punishing humanity for what they perceive as its “crime”- of existing. (Other than their own “perfect” selves, that is.)
And I include AlGore, et al., in that number.
clear ether
eon
Another sensible post from eon. well put.
Most of the money in fields like climate science come from govt grants.
Govt grants, for the most part go to those who tell us we are about to die, unless they get money to figure out how to stop it.
A few years ago a “researcher” was caught seeding part of a national forest with hair from a rare animal. If he hadn’t been caught, two thins would have happened. First, the forest would have been declared off limits to all human activity. Second, the researcher would have gotten further grants to document and study the rare animals in this new habitat.
OK. Sounds good as far as advancing the whole Gore-anti-hypocricy argument…BUT can you tell us which/what study you that “researcher” was describing or responsible for? It would be great to be able to keep the unverifiable stuff to a minimum.
Excellently well said.
“All y’all talk about this like its a hoax, but as you can see with the oil spill: humans are destroying the environment.”
Why you sly fox, you. I suppose the guys who flew jets into the World Trade Towers were improving the environment too. But the fact is that while Moe is destroying the environment over there, Curly is improving the environment over here.
Now repeat after me…I, joel, will, as a result of the Gulf oil accident, solemnly swear I will never get into or drive a gasoline or oil-powered vehicle again…so help me Al Gore.
To add a little perspective.
ScienceDaily (Jan. 27, 2000) — Twice an Exxon Valdez spill worth of oil seeps into the Gulf of Mexico every year, according to a new study that will be presented January 27 at the Ocean Sciences Meeting in San Francisco. But the oil isn’t destroying habitats or wiping out ocean life. The ooze is a natural phenomena that’s been going on for many thousands of years, according to Roger Mitchell, Vice President of Program Development at the Earth Satellite Corporation (EarthSat) in Rockville Md. “The wildlife have adapted and evolved and have no problem dealing with the oil,” he said.

This AGW movement nets out to be a classic case study in Confirmation Bias.
Calling CO2 a pollutant borders on insanity. This whole thing is a distraction.
There are other far more environmentally friendly actions we can and do take. But people like Gore are obsessed with Carbon…take a step back from your liberal preconceptions and ask yourself why that is.
I don’t know if man-induced global warming is happening or not. So I must choose sides based on the behavior of who are engaged in the debate. As a slightly right of center Democrat, I find both sides lacking in decorum, but the global warmists’ behavior is indeed worse. (Granted, I am biased these days because I was recently a victim of a crime by a so-called environmentalist.)
If any of the environmentalist groups would call out the hypocrisies of the Al Gores, the Ted Kennedys, the Harrison Fords, the Cheryl Davids, the Sheryl Crows, then maybe I could abide listening to their spiels. But instead, they go after the little guy, like me, who happens to drive a Jeep Wrangler. I know it’s not the most fuel-efficient car. But is that any reason to vandalize it? I mean come on. The carbon footprint of the whole life of the car will be much smaller than just one of those vacations Cheryl took on a private plane. I would have to live a hundred life times before I would supposedly effect the environment as a Sheyrl Crow concert tour. It just makes me angry that they aren’t willing to call them out.
That is all.
Welcome to the world of common sense. You must be one of the real democrats. Before they were hijacked by the extreme left that eat their own.

hey joel, try to focus. we attack gore not because of his (stated) goal of “cleaning up.” everyone wants to “clean up” to the extent possible while not returning human beings to cave dwelling. we attack gore because he is stunningly, massively, oh-so arrogantly full of poo, and this year has been his comeuppance. as for the professors, they are motivated by their ideological zeal, their overwhelming desire to expose the evils of man as perpetrated on poor mother earth. we can always do better, and should, but i don’t want to be lectured by liars and opportunists. are we done here, pal?
Reading the post regarding bashing back to the skeptics on global warming, “I only believe the scientist” . Well my friend do some reading from the scientist, spend some time on the web, look at the group in Europe, a group of scientist who signed a petition to have Al Gore’s nobel peace prize revoked. There are a lot of scientist who have debunked global warming, but the liberal media ignores it. Plz, be better informed before you just attack those who do not believe in so called global warming, too many people have been made rich by the global warming junk science. When all said and done, it will die away once they have milked it for all they could.
Joe Doakes – BTW, Real Clear is like North Korea. They toss people arbitrarily and without notice. While I still browse via RCP, I wrote them a letter re all this that definitely will keep me tossed in perpetuity ;)
Stevennn above says “Calling environmentalism a religion is really, really stupid.
No, Steve, you apparently are not enlightened by Gore’s “environmentalism” (the topic of this article). Consider this (from a term paper my daughter wrote for her English class):
“There is a whole side of AGW that isn’t even based in science—even faulty science. Instead it has its origins in religion. That may be surprising for anyone who has not read Al Gore’s book, An Inconvenient Truth. Gore devotes a whole chapter to “Environmentalism of the Spirit.” In one passage Gore compares social justice of ecology to the story of Cain and Able. Gore writes, “Indeed the first instance of “pollution” in the Bible occurs when Cain slays Abel and his blood falls on the ground, rendering it fallow. According to Genesis, after the murder, when Cain asks, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” the Lord replies, “Your brother’s blood calls out to me from the ground. What have you done?” God then tells Cain that his brother’s blood has defiled the ground and that as a result, “no longer will it yield crops for you, even if you toil on it forever!” (Gore, 247) I guess that if we will just be a more upright people and care for our fellow man, we won’t even have to worry about climate issues. Gore goes on to support a marriage between religion and science and delves into the responsibility God has placed on man to take care of the world. If the science behind the issue didn’t convince you, certainly a fear of God will.”
So Steve… have you read Al Gore’s book? Do you have a clue what’s in it?
I thought so.
And if you do not think that the Obama-cons do not realize the “religious” aspect of the environment then take a look at this: “A New Era of Partnerships:
Report of Recommendations to the President” From the “President’s Advisory Council
on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships” . . . and yes every major religion of the US of A is clearly represented.

Difficult to tell these days who are the biggest phonies ? Bill Gates and his father, and Warren Buffet all advocate for higher taxes yet they don’t write their checks to the IRS but rather to tax evading foundations.
To paraphrase a line from Gore’s favorite movie “Being ‘green’ means never having to say your sorry”. Yes, Gore may be wealthy but he is a fat old man married to a fat old broad. The view FROM their hottub most certainly has to be better than the view IN their hottub. Who would trade places with this phoney !
Gore claims he has become rich “by putting his money where his mouth is”. Yet this is a man who has used the levers of government, both U.S. and international, to create laws and regulations in favor of his “green” schemes and, after he has rigged the game, he places his bets. Yes, it’s easy to make money when the government forces others to pay you. Gore arrogantly states that there is nothing wrong with making a profit but his is not a profit, it is a swindle. He’s selling “protection”. Except the thugs visiting the businesses are government henchmen who figuratively threaten to break your legs with draconian fines and jail time.
Environmentalism is the Church of the Left, and Mr. Gore is Elmer Gantry reincarnate. Well, brothers and sisters, you are welcome to your religion. But as you have endlessly impressed upon us, the separation of church and state is sacrosanct. So please feel free to indulge in all of your rites and rituals, but leave the rest of us alone.
So please define “SANCROSANCT” and then refer to the following link:

It’s as hypocritical as a sexually repressive religion founded by a pedophile and sexual predator who was exempted from all the rules he made. Not talking about any religion in particular…
Nor did the horrendous natural ash cloud that blanketed Europe — and in unprecedented fashion shut down all European air travel for days — remind a humbled Gore that sometimes nature in a second has the destructive power to alter the very way we live in a way that man does not over decades.
Did Danny Glover attribute the eruption of the Icelandic volcano to global warming ?
Just curious, since he attributed the Haitian earthquake to global warming.
(An Iranian imam attributed all the shaking & tremors in that earthquake prone region to provocatively dressed women, while Deepak Chopra said his own powerful meditations likely influenced the recent spate of ground shaking in southern California.)
Does (Gore) understand that his newest mansion is a sort of volcanic ash-cloud that has now overwhelmed Earth in the Balance, Inc?
The Goracle and other Warmerists should be thrilled at Eyjafjallajokull’s eruption, since some semi-serious scientists have advocated putting up a layer of pollution around the Earth to slow down the sun’s rays. Steven Chu, Obama’s sec’y of Energy, suggested we might paint our roofs white for purposes of deflecting that Hot Old Sol.
Honestly, it’s time to stop taking any of these people even semi-seriously and just hope olde Earth finds a way around its current plethora of wackos.
(I saw a show, “Earth After People”, one week after up to about a million years after, incrementally. The insects, of course, were doing extremely well)
Fascinating that this firebrand opponent of carbon got his start in politics with the help of the enigmatic Armand Hammer, who controlled Occidental Petroleum and who had coal interests in the U.S. and China (Gore’s father ran the U.S. coal operations after he was voted out of office).
Hammer’s fortune was much enhanced by his wide range of social and political connections, ranging from Lenin to Nixon. Gore’s fortune was likewise enhanced by influencing government officials and celebrities to take actions which would benefit his businesses.
No wonder Gore needs so many homes and so many garage spaces, fireplaces and bathrooms. He needs to nurture those connections if he’s going to become a multi-billionaire by inducing governments to force the “little people” to pay more for energy.
And he gets to save the world at the same time. Such a deal.
So, how much did Gore-balls make off the sale of the CCX? He and his UK based carbon exchange company(companies) were the #5 investor I’ve heard…
Oh, and the administration’s friends Goldman are in the CCX, too, I hear.
And if someone is willing to buy it, what do they know about cap and trade that we aren’t being told?
Our one time savior, Al Gore, is rapidly turning into Al Who?
In other words, anointed progressives all need a little help if they are going to suffer and work so hard on our behalf.
I saw a softball interview of the Goracle recently (he assiduously avoids doing any potentially challenging interviews with actual scientists), and he announced he has no intention of giving up hamburgers and steaks in the name of Mommy Earth and her survival or anything else.
Talking is Progressive version of the mea culpa. Once they’ve yakked, i.e., given the lip service, they’re free to go on living as self-indulgently as the mood strikes.
And if one sees that the advocates for forced equality most certainly don’t want to be forced to do anything they advocate, then what are we left with?
A really bad taste in our mouths.
For all the unbelievable hypocrites you name, from Jeremiah Wright through Thomas Friedman right up to the master hypocrite himself, Fat Albert, our own best hope is that cognitive dissonance is taking its toll on their self-righteous, overly indulged, pontificating selves.
I wonder when President Obama-dama-ding-dong will determine that Al Gore has made enough money? He hasn’t established the ceiling yet, wonder what it will be? Will Al have to sell his mansion to meet his tax debt? Will his private jet be sold at auction?
Deciding whether Al Gore is an “up-front crook” or just another hypocritical liberal phony might be easier to resolve based on the following incident.
In 1990-91 Senator Gore was trying to decide whether or not he would support the first Gulf War. He went to his party’s Senate Majority Leader, Democrat George Mitchell and to the Minority Leader Republican Bob Dole, saying to them he would vote for or against the war based on which leader would give him the most TV face time.
Bob Dole offered the most TV face time and got Gore’s yes vote. Mr.Dole told this story later in an interview and duly registered his disgust with Senator Gore.
The lesson of the story is that Al Gore probably finds beliefs that benefit him personally and “up-front crook” is probably a better description than hypocritical liberal phony.
Excellent post. No surprise. I would only quibble with the term “Gorism.” Seems like “Gore-itis” might be more appropriate – to indicate the symptoms of a swelled head and inflamed ego. I offer this not as a medical professional (I’m a musician), but as a Tennessean – one of many who personally suffers from AGore-aphobia.
Waterstone guitars?
Nashville cats. They clean as country water.
Drill baby drill!! What could go wrong?
$7.00 a gallon gasoline and collapse of American economy for a start. Perhaps you haven’t noticed gasoline now tipping $3.00 a gallon as we speak?
Beholden to those who would lop your head off given the chance would also probably rank somewhere in importance too.
But what’s reality to cute lefty cliche? NO BLOOD FOR OIL!
I do not know if you were driving two years ago, but I was paying over four dollars a gallon. Prices go up in the summer. How much do you think this little debacle in the gulf is going to cost? How many more of those takers should we risk putting in our oceans? Irregardless of your belief in climate change should we not be furiously pursuing alternative energy sources?
are furiously pursuing alternative energy sources. The problem is that none are close to being ready, despite the billions being pored into them.
Well, if we look purely at costs in terms of what a company is liable for then yes, only BP and its shareholders will pay the price. However, what about the peoples right to enjoy the beaches. What about the people who bought beach front property, with the intent to be able to swim on their beaches. What about the damage to the ecosystem, which employed many fellow Americans. If we chasing renewable alternatives as fast as possible why is china kicking our ass in the renewable sector. Why do they have tougher standards in place than we do? Why are they leading the world is Solar production instead of us? I know why it is because of big oil and coal lobbyist. Why else are we letting ourselves fall behind other countries in the economic future powerhouses. We got to the moon first, why cant we put more resources into renewables.
Brian,
You mean prices go up in summer, mostly due to another boondoggle of the EPA called reformulated gasoline? Of course, when I noted to you environmentalists 24 months ago why gas high, told you Dick Cheney had nothing to do with it, and told you it was pure speculation, you poo pooed that idea off and blamed it on the Iraq War or some other lefty rationale. Later proven right, I never received an apology from your ilk.
Won’t cost you much unless you’re a BP stock holder like I am. It will cost you a whole lot however, if you attempt to block offshore drilling. This accident, by the way, such a rarity that it’s been twenty years since we had an event of any magnitude of leakage for you clowns from the left to dredge on about. That the commercial airlines could make such a claim.
Stay with your mindset and $4.00 gasoline will be a real bargain.
If the environmentalist hadn’t made it impossible to drill off of most of our shoreline, we wouldn’t need to be drilling in such deep waters yet. It’s possible that a few more years of experience before building this particular platform could have prevented this accident.
If by ‘takers’, you mean ‘tankers’, well, the ‘little debacle in the gulf’ has nothing to do with an oil tanker. It was caused by an oil rig explosion and subsequent sinking that sheared the pipe to the well head.
‘Irregardless of your belief in climate change should we not be furiously pursuing alternative energy sources?’
Why, yes, we should. Furiously pursuing licensing, building, and then getting new small scale nuclear power plants online as quickly as possible.
A. Irregardless is not a word. Stop using it if you want to be taken seriously by anyone with more education then the average 9th grader.
B. The amount of oil spilled in the Gulf versus the amount of oil removed from the gulf is .0001%. For your edification, that is a very small number. Any spill is a bad spill, but the governments slow reaction to this spill made the situation worse that it should be.
Let me guess, you are one of those people who thinks that with the proper set of laws, the world can be perfected.
Imagine how we Alaskans feel; we’re sitting on massive energy reserves, yet we pay some of the highest energy costs in the nation. The village of McGrath made news the other day when their gas prices hit $10 a gallon.
More Alaskans ride their bikes to work per capita than any other state. So if you’re against drilling for oil, get your happy butt on a bike and start pedaling. Oh, but wait – doesn’t that bike need OIL?
Guess you’d better start walking, Skippy.
Love the initials for the boat, BS-1. Pretty much sums it all up. Feral Cat, you’re a scream!

GUESS WHICH COLLECTIVIST SAID IT…
… and find out on which side of the gulag fence you’ll be tomorrow.
(Warning: some questions are more equal than others, and some answers will make you want to slap yourself upside the head with a shovel)……
“There are ominous signs that the Earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production – with serious political implications for just about every nation on Earth. The drop in food output could begin quite soon, perhaps only 10 years from now… The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard-pressed to keep up with it… The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be COOLING DOWN.”
When Newsweek published this back in 1975, some scientists were so alarmed by the cooling trend as to suggest covering the polar ice caps with soot so they’d absorb more heat and melt… Yet today, global warmers engage in a quasi-religious crusade to spread their gospel. Those who do not agree with their beliefs are labeled “deniers,” as if disagreement, even for valid reasons, is worthy of disdain. Science is about openly debating theories, not squelching dissent.
Warmers declare there is a consensus among most scientists regarding their tenets. Yet I also remember back in 2002 there was a consensus among most Western intelligence agencies that Iraq had WMDs as well… Do we have scientific consensus, or do we have groupthink? How much of this scientific consensus is affected by the likelihood of obtaining further research grants? Even if we were to agree that a warming trend is present -an assertion some still dispute, particularly in light of alleged data fudging at the CRU- it would seem pretty difficult to conclusively determine its cause, and even harder to predict an outcome.
Are the predictions of impending doom inevitable? Warmers say we cannot afford to do nothing. But their plans would entail costs most of the world could simply not afford to pay. Converting to alternate fuels (other than nuclear) and carbon-reducing technologies would inevitably raise electircity/fuel costs, ultimately raising the price of any item that requires transport -including food. That is exactly what happened in 2008, to devastating effects. As the price of oil doubled, our economy choked, food prices rose, and the poor suffered immeasurably. So forgive me for thinking twice about considering proposals that could precipitate our national or personal economic suicide, to avert the warmers’ unproven predictions.
Those with little will surely balk at suffering the consequences of crippling price hikes. The impoverished masses would likely ask if global conservation was something we are doing for them, or to them… This point may be of little concern to the affluent liberal elites, who would likely carry on their lavish, carbon-emitting lifestyles – appropriately carbon offsetted, of course. Carbon offsetting will become modern day indulgence payments, allowing the rich continue a life of carbon sin without burning in global warming hell.
Cost-effective measures to lower our carbon emissions or raise our use of renewables should surely be supported. We can certainly make cost-effective changes to improve our overall energy efficiency, and I would certainly favor government research to make alternative fuel sources more viable to the masses. But when the alternatives being proposed are much more expensive that what we presently have, it will be a hard sell, particularly in our weak global economy.
I don’t discount the possibility of global warming, but feel there is still much that lies unanswered. And I’m still skeptical of predictions of impending devastation, or the need to demand massive changes to the world’s population, which will undoubtedly lead to costlier existences that many in the third world will not be able to pay for, all in the name of a possible hypothesis. The warmers may insist, making a statement such as, “The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality,” never fully realizing the irony that this is exactly the phrase used to end the 1975 Newsweek “Global Cooling” article…
Ah, yes, let’s not forget how the gurus of Global Warming live their lives! Al Gore promotes living a “carbon neutral” life, while his Nashville home consumes $30,000 annually in electricity – 20 times the national average! We are encouraged to lower our thermostats, while he enjoys his heated pool…. Laurie David, the environmental activist, producer of An Inconvenient Truth, vehemently preaches carbon chastity, yet enjoys flying cross country on private jets. “[She] reviles the owners of SUVs as terrorist enablers, yet gives herself a pass when it comes to chartering one of the most wasteful uses of fossil-based fuels imaginable…. one cross-country flight in a Gulfstream is the same… as if she drove a Hummer for an entire year.” ( http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/national_world&id=5072659 ) Her defense? “I’m not perfect.” This is on top of the Hollywood artist crew, who love to talk green, but seem to love their luxury cars and homes even more. Of course, they all probably offset their carbon use – as if “pre-paying” for their excesses, in a system strangely reminiscent of the Medieval practice of indulgences….
The scientists and world leaders who gathered in Copenhagen to discuss reducing carbon emissions produced the equivalent of over 41,000 tonnes of CO2, which includes landing 140 private planes and riding 1,200 limos. “And the total number of electric cars or hybrids among that number? ‘Five…. The government has some alternative fuel cars but the rest will be petrol or diesel. We don’t have any hybrids in Denmark, unfortunately, due to the extreme taxes on those cars. It makes no sense at all, but it’s very Danish.’” (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/copenhagen-climate-change-confe/6736517/Copenhagen-climate-summit-1200-limos-140-private-planes-and-caviar-wedges.html)
Meanwhile, articles like these (http://www.newscientist.com/article/mg20427361.900-five-ecocrimes-we-commit-every-day.html?page=1 ) list “ecocrimes” we should consider avoiding, including drinking coffee, using toilet paper, using style clothes, and doing laundry… But not Gore, not Pelosi, or even some in the scientific community. No, they’ll probably earn enough income through their “green” investments to carbon-offset away any guilt.
There are plenty of conservative polluters. But at least in this matter, they’re not hypocritically telling others to cut down on what they themselves lavishly enjoy.
Thanks for a great, documented and substantive reply to this discussion.
Hypocrasy is a trademark Gore attribute. Think back to the moving scene of Algore at his dying sisters bedside, a ‘victim’ of lung cancer. And Algore excoriating the evil tobacco companies. Then ask wherefrom did arise the Gore family fortune. An inconvenient truth.
I remember liberals criticizing for Bush for having conflicting interests, as he was an “oilman” favoring pro-oil energy policies. But not an eyebrow is raised about Gore’s heavy investments in companies that produce the “green” technologies he so vehemently advocates. From the NYT: “Few people have been as vocal about the urgency of global warming… And few have put as much money behind their advocacy as Mr. Gore and are as well positioned to profit from this green transformation, if and when it comes…. Other public figures, like Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Robert F. Kennedy JR., who have vocally supported government financing of energy-saving technologies, have investments in alternative energy ventures. Some scientists and policy advocates also promote energy policies that personally enrich them.” (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/03/business/energy-environment/03gore.html?_r=2&dbk) Who knew that saving the world could potentially be so profitable!
When I was young, I dreamed of getting married and owning a big home. I also love the outdoors, so I wanted a big truck, a camper trailer and even a boat for fishing. Fortunately for me, as I worked in my career and gained knowledge and experience, I became rather successful. In time, I was able to get married and to obtain those things that I dreamed of, while young. I did this by working within the Capitalist, Free Trade system. It was also made possible through a form of government that fortunately encouraged self accomplishment.
Now that I am older and have obtained these things, I feel the need to work steadfastly within the political system that encouraged me to be successful, in order to prohibit anyone else from making the same mistakes and thereby obtaining the things that I have obtained. My guilt for having obtained these things and the guilt I particularly feel for how I went about obtaining them, is what drives me to make it no longer possible for anyone within the US to do what I have done.
Besides, wouldn’t it diminish the value of the things I’ve got, if just any Tom, Dick, or Harry could buy a boat, or a home like mine? I can’t have that. Why would I work so hard to get these things, if anyone can get these things? I mean, if all they had to do were to work as hard as I did to get these things, what would I have? It sure wouldn’t mean all that much then, would it?
Doesn’t everyone know that there is room for only one house on the top of the mountain, and that house, is my house, and not yours?
Come on now. Lay off Al. After all he had to find some where to put his finder fee that he got for swindling the American and Louisiana taxpayers out of %750 million for 2 government backed start up car companies that will produce $100 thousand electric cars for his progressive cronies. Luxury electric cars he and his partners in crime will use to show how they care about the planet after stiffing the taxpayers when the companies go out bankrupt on government backed loans. RICO act comes to mind.
I think there is one remaining theme to be gleaned from all this- that these Elmer Gantry’s (Jeremiah Wright, John Edwards, Al Gore, Tom Friedman, Ted Kennedy, et al) make themselves the self appointed poobah guru’s of a crackpot religion, apparently, since there’s a sucker reborn every minute.
Just take your circus atmosphere on the road, or the airways, engage in all the amplified pieties of said crackpot religion, and you and yours can escape the endless cycle of guilt tripping of those who don’t, or won’t, confess the sins of others.
Still, though, hierarchy is everything. You can “do it all’ if you’re high enough on the totem pole to look down your nose at all the other un-repentants down there, who shamelessly do it the way it’s done in modern life, e.g., drive your car, watch your flat screen, etc. as long as you’ve paid your dues (your carbon debt) in sheer cognitive dissonance. And even if the CO2 comes flowing from your mouth, your house, your Gulf Stream jets to do so. Don’t worry, you’ve been absolved of all the sins of colonialism, anti-environmentalism and racism you can’t help but repeat, but only because Al and company haven’t been
alble to put together a Spanish Inquisition worthy of the name to satisfy the bloodlust of the mob Al and company are trying to whip up!
I call it the Absolution Complex. There is still time to get in on the ground floor, you suckers!

I can think of a justified reason for Al Gore to not fly in commercial jets. His conduct over the years has produced many negative opinions towards him. For his peace of mind, to avoid harassment and people who wish to debate him – and worse- were he to fly commercial,he would be recommended to take private planes.(I realize that is probably not the reason why he flies private jets.) Were I to sit next to Al Gore on a commercial flight, I would certainly like to discuss with him certain issues.
My negative opinions of Al Gore postdate the 2000 election. I voted third party in the 2000 election, so I didn’t have a dog in the hunt regarding the recount. From my neutral position, I concluded that Al Gore’s acts during the recount were geared not for fair recount procedures, but what would gain him maximum advantage- logical consistency be damned. So what if the vote counting procedures in a county were set by members of the Democratic Party? Change them!
I also disliked his going to one of to Arab kingdoms post 9/11 and denouncing the US for its “mistreatment” of Arabs. It looked to me to be pandering to tyrants. That he denounced the US in doing so, made it even worse. That most objective observers would disagree with him, worse yet. Pure pandering.
I also disliked what he said in his 2004 interview in the New Yorker. He compared Christian fundamentalists in the US to “Islamic fundamentalists” and other in not coping with modernity. I am not a churchgoer. My Christian fundamentalist grandmother was 1) much more tolerant of those who disagreed with her than “Islamic fundamentalists” are and 2) she adapted to a lot of changes over her lifetime: she coped rather well with modernity.
As a result, I am not surprised that Al Gore has performed as he has regarding AGW. He already showed himself to be a fool.
While I dislike much of what Al Gore has said, I understand why he would want to fly in a private jet to avoid talking to someone who disagrees with him. I would chew his ear off if he sat next to me on a commercial flight. Most people would not to sit on a commercial flight for several hours next to a stranger who has no hesitation in telling you why the stranger considers you to be an utter fool. And Al Gore is an utter fool.
Would that also explain why Al and his entourage, at the Cannes Film Festival when his ode to fantasy was first released, used 4 or 5 limos to drive the 100 yards from his hotel to the place where the ceremony was being held?
Parents have not taught these children-in-adult bodies the lessons
of “the Pied Piper” or “Jack and the Beanstalk” and assorted other fairy tales, Al Gore would have a tomato tossing audience.
It is probably too late for the “educated” fools coming out of “schools” but:
Check out a few films like “Elmer Gantry” or watch Starbuck in “The Rainmaker” makes assclowns out of the nieve hoopleheads who abound – everywhere!
I mean, hundreds of millions fell for National Socialism and Communism. 100mm people gone and counting, as a result.
Think for yourself. It is possible.
I remember one liberal, who with full earnestness, tried to convince me that the lesson of “The Boy who cried Wolf”, was that we should always run to help someone who says they are in trouble, because just maybe, they are.
And of course this all goes for the vast majority of the entertainment industry too. These over-indulged superficial people, almost totally disconnected from the reality of daily life, deem to preach to us their concept of right and wrong while they can’t even stay out of rehab or virtual cults. If they are not addicted to substances they are addicted to their huge egos. It is the old world aristocracy again.
Carbon Credit Offsets. Now there is a liberal elitist global warmers justification for their giant carbon footprint. The perfect way to assuage their guilt.
Once more invoking the comparison between Al Gore’s mansion and Bush’s house in Crawford, Texas. Now, please stop for a minute and ask yourself who the real hypocrite is in this scenario. A mansion with a carbon footprint larger than Texas or a Texas house with a carbon footprint smaller than Tipper’s sneakers?
Al Gore is a less than credible advocate for AGW simply because he does not adhere to his fanatical preaching about it. I respect Ralph Nader because he does attempt to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Al Gore doesn’t walk the walk. He makes vain attempts at waddling the walk and fails every time. Live what you preach and I will give credence to what you say. Otherwise, get out of my face hypocrite.
Dr. Pachurrai, the head of the UN’s IPCC group once flew first class from a conference, back to India, so he could participate in his teams cricket practice. After the practice was over, he flew back to the conference. At least he didn’t charter a private jet.
3 years ago alldull came to phoenix to speak at arizona state.
He was paid $100,000. from the student fund, wouldn’t hold a presser and would take no questions from the audience
He spent about an hour hectoring the audience about the sins of not heeding his message and then quickly left town
VDH:
In summary, modern environmentalism has found more problems than it has solved. The elimination of DDT found again the problem of Malaria, and the ‘discovery’ of CO2 is slowly finding the problem of a World dominated by China and OPEC.
When environmentalism starts to solve problems again, count me in. Until then it is for people who choose to make work instead of do work.
If a doctor who smokes advises a patient who smokes to stop smoking…the doctor’s own habit doesn’t invalidate his advice. That sort of behavior, to me, barely registers on the hypocrisy meter. I know of few advocates who live up to their own standards.
But if that same doctor smokes 10 times what his patient smokes…and he couches his advice as a moral crusader with the fervor of a preacher, making all sorts of moral proclamations and threatening punishment on his patient unless he quits…who in their right mind would ever return as a patient?
This is one of the problems that Al Gore et. al. face. Regardless of the truthiness of their advice…they’re such horrible spokespersons that they likely do their cause more harm then good. Imagine a sincere, honest scientist who is truly concerned about anthropogenic climate change, witnessing Al the planetary gas giant traipsing around spewing his excrement. It must be maddening.
Essential vdh
Gorism existed well before Algore. That is why Gorism exists now. Our schools no longer teach as needed to the extent that with the products of our schools America will no longer exist.
Al Gore is not a complete and integrated man. It is not within his ability to be so. He sees no conflict in his actions. No lack of integrity. He is the product of almost 100 years of subversion in America. A product of a movement supported most by intellectuals who move humans from the needed belief in individual responsibility to the false belief in the collective, life as a flock, not really human but it supports “leaders” like Algore, the BHO’s–for a while. Algore, an incomplete and pathetic human, who like the alcoholic cannot sober up because he would see himself as he is.
Algore’s certainty calls to the “sheep” in America. To the ignorant wanting to be taken care of because they believe in Utopia. An intellectual construct, not human nor real but ready made for the weak and the dependent. The illegal immigrant, the products of AA and PC, more and more of us. Subversive and false. Why because it assigns power on earth. No one needs answer to a higher morality or right and wrong.
Decide now Americans if you can be a follower of men of such character and lack of integrity or morality. If so into the pit we will all go, until somewhere someplace “America” will begin again. We see no George Washington’s on the horizon. American values will be born again because the concept of America is in all humans, undiscovered until necessity makes it surface.
No. 72 Bart took the words out of my keyboard: One can disagree with Ralph but he walksthealk–lives as sparsely as the way he’d like to force everyone else to live
Al Gore is the poster child for the all-world, indeed all inter-galactic, level of hypocrisy that exists among all progressive/liberals. That people can still insist that AGW is a valid conclusion in the light of the disclosures made to date about the crowd that put it all together for the UN is astounding.
Poor Al Gore. Can’t you cut him some slack? After being a (sore) loser in 2000, he finally found his calling, AGW. Now that it’s been solidly discredited, he’s gone back to being a loser – AGAIN.
If the AGW believers call us deniers flat-earthers, can we call them Gorons?
We need to consider nationalizing the oil companies. Our country’s long-term record of privatizing profits and socializing losses – something we have witnessed in the financial crisis and see the potential for in $54 billion worth of nuclear loan guarantees and in the Price-Anderson Act – is a matter that should stop being swept under the all-purpose “free market” carpet. Nationalization is not the only answer. But it’s not an approach that should be dismissed out of hand, whether we’re talking about Big Finance or Big Energy.
It’s quite possible this gulf spill could have been avoided had they installed a blowout device that cost $500,000. Norway has them (speaking of nationalization) as well as many other countries. But we don’t want to cut into profits do we?
Al Gore is a money grubbing – scaring school children with a factually incorrect movie wholly supported by liberal socialists/communists/anti-americans – corrupt – “one World order” where the rich and powerful become richer…and more powerful.
Al Gore could NEVER work a real days work in his life.
Al Gore has been a LYING (i.e. Love Story written about him. He created the Internet) self promoter of FAILED MANIUPLATED “SCIENCE” whereby Gore and his “house of cards” international businesses would monetarily benefit to the tune of…BILLIONS of dollars.
Al Gore has been raised with a Golden SPOILED spoon whereby he thinks he is the smartest one in the room and his “behind the scenes schemes” (i.e. see Wizard of Oz for an example of Gore behind the curtain) are coming to light.
Al Gore should be investigated and his actions brought before a Jury with ALL of the facts brought forth. Specifically the RICO statute whereby Gore has conspired to take American Citizens money in return for…nothing.
Al Gore and Wall Street and Obama and others make MILLIONS STEALING from American Citizens and “washing” the money through donations from donors who are later prosecuted and found GUILTY. However they never have to give back the money they gained from dealing with these bona fide CROOKS….AMAZING.
American Citizens are WAKING UP to the real threats against America and they are from within.
We can NEVER get back the countless years our children have been “manipulated” to believe in Global Warming. Just like Hilter “manipulated” the youth by saying “any other belief is wrong” and/or by “flashy movies” and meaningless accolades Gore has received the highest awards awarded by Liberal Socialists/Communists/Anti-Americans (i.e. See Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize after being in office for weeks and achieving NOTHING of consequence) can give to one another.
These LIberal EXTREMISTS only exist because CORRUPT Politicians given them US Taxpayers money. It is a “circle of corruption” that the “bought and paid for liberal media” spews as “legitimate” when in fact it is anything but.
Hard work, faith in God, adherence to God, believing in our values, and demanding that EVERYONE be treated the same and that means that Males should stop being DISCRIMINATED against and denied entrance into Colleges because they aren’t deemed a “minority” under some misguided assessment.
Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream and it was that EVERYONE be judged by their character and not their skin color and the Clintons, Al Gore, and others have little or NO character and are snake oil salesmen stealing from the American Public with their propaganda.
God bless America and every American Citizen and all children born in this World and to those yet to be born.
The Enviro-fraud has cost Americans and small businesses their retirement, businesses and income. All the while, the jet-setter Al Gore has profited on a myth!
There are numerous people that should be living in little cells, wearing orange uniforms.
Mr. Gore should be at the front of the line!
Gore is no different than the snake oil salesman or carpet bagger of the 19th Century except now with mass media he can conn a whole world. Sort of like the difference between someone who murders one person and Adolf Hitler who murdered truckloads at a time. On a global scale, Gore’s conn wrecks global havok and doesnt just leave a few poor souls poorer.
To a narcissist and sociopath like Gore, truth is just tool which he can bend into the shapes he needs to get what he wants…..he holds no truth or fact as sacred or in reverence. He belongs to a class of those most dangerous to human society.
Future history will judge Gore as one of the most destructive political figures in American history
Dr. Hanson:
What you see and take great effort in describing is what all who have opened their eyes see as the same old evil. With different faces, with different names, even in another millenium, yet in the end these darkened angels want what is not theirs even though they don’t need it and have no right to it, these demented and damned souls will try to take it any way by any means they see fit. What are they stealing if it is not the truth?
The sword will eventually fall on them all, will it not?
I’ve never been a fan of Gore, especially after his spineless behavior during the 2000 election recount clusterf*ck (yes, I’m holding him partially responsible for that 8 year disaster known as the Bush administration). Appearances count, and Gore should have been well aware of his special place among right wingers and conservatives in the global warming “debate” (it’s not really a debate about scientists — it’s pretty much all among the badly to partially confused general public thanks to crappy media coverage and massive disinformation campaigns by the right wing pundits and organizations.)
Whether he wants to be a symbol or not, Gore is, and it’s kind of irresponsible to put himself in situations like he did back in 2007, and now this thing. While Gore’s harshest critics are mostly anti-science, malicious dumbasses, they do represent a sizable portion of the population increasingly (if very wrongly) skeptical about how real and serious global warming is. Gore should have learned a thing or two from Ralph Nader, who has been a target of right wingers for a much longer time: the thing is that Nader has always walked the walked — he’s wealthy, but you would never guess it from his lifestyle. I don’t agree with Nader much of the time, and I’m not at all thrilled with his “spoiler” role in the 2000 election, but in truth I can have no great philosophical qualms with someone who’s clear about what he says and then does what he says.
Maybe it’s because I do alot of musical theatre that I see who the Goracle really is, from a character perspective:
He is Professor Harold Hill from The Music Man.
Professor Hill made up a problem (the wicked game of pool) and supplied the solution for keeping the boys of River City from playing pool by forming a boys band. He was more than happy to sell the town all the instruments and uniforms to the town at a hefty personal profit. He created the problem, and then profited from the solution.
Al created (or vastly overstated) the problem of AGW, and was more than happy to sell those shiny carbon offsets to any sucker who pony up the bucks.
Prof. Hill’s problem was that he fell in love with Marian the Librarian and got himself caught.
The Goracle’s problem is he fell in love with his image as savior, his Gulfstream and his multiple mansions, and got himself caught.
Professor Hill turned over a new leaf, married Marian and lived happily ever after.
Al, I am afraid will never turn over that new leaf. He is a scoundrel to the end, and will go on trying to sell his shiny golden carbon offsets up to and including the day the townspeople tar and feather him and run him out of town on a rail.

Al Gore…
The modern day Elmer Gantry.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elmer_Gantry
Canada’s version of Gore, David Suzuki is no different. He rants on about emissions and climate change, while he owns 2 homes, one is a $2M house on Quadra Island, off the shores of Vancouver – which is only accessible by private boat of ferry.
But we Canadians cut the hypocrite some slack because we’ve heard he walks over the water to get to the island, which saves on emissions.
It’s Energy, Stupid!
I think Mr. Gore is a prime example of all of us:
In finance, a Madoff at worst, a Greenspan at best;
in the environment, a James Watt at worst, a Gore at best;
in Sports, a Tiger Woods ….
and so – interminably – on…
Al Gore is Gordon Gekko without the sincerity.

Ocean Acidification
Oceans of bulltosh.
First it was “acid rain” – woops, that amounted to nothing. Then “global warming” – woops, the temps fell. Then they called it “climate change” in an attempt to try avoiding having to admit to being wrong however the temperatures went, while managing to blame everything in the universe on human beings. But – woops, emails were revealed showing the bigwigs at the top of the pseudo-scientific cult of misanthropy and money-grabbing, were found out to have faked data and hoaxed the world!
These misanthropic hoaxes escolate and behave exactly like chain letters.
http://chainletters.pbworks.com
Chain letter 1: Pass this on and you’ll get good luck, money from Bill Gates and Disney, and your crush will call you at midnight. Don’t pass it along, and you’ll be cursed with bad luck.
Acid Rain: Oh NOOOOES! We’re causing acid rain and it’s turning everything green! You can stop it by putting your life on hold and giving us your money so we can stop the rain because only we know how to stop it!
Wait, I thought going green was the whole idea in the first place. Anyway, nada. No big die-offs from so-called acid rain, that was the initial good luck/bad luck scare.
Chain letter 2. Poor little Jessica Mydek and Amy Bruce are dying of brain cancer caused by beatings, have a heart and pass this chain letter on and save them or else you’re a terrible selfish child-hater!
Global warming: Oh NOOOOOES! We’re making greenhouse gases and dog breath and cow beltches are sufficating the world! Stop dairy farming and eating beef, keeping dogs, stop doing anything at all that involves http://AnimalOwnership.mixxt.com owning animals and making your life anything but barely surviving! We’re all killing the planet by being here! We must stop this at once! Gorism is a result of his knowledge that he lives in a land of Morons. He is enjoying the protection of a corrupt media and poorly informed citizenry. He simply exploits this obvious opportunity as do all of the Hollywood elete, and the politically entrenched incumbents. That is, preach of your own goodness while denigrating those who earn their living honestly. He and his compatriots are the leaches in our little pond. They suck the life blood from any who dare to interact in their world -pro or con. Leaches are not selective nor do they seem to have a conscience. We can only hope that Gore continues increasing his girth along with his wealth until they explode into history. He will surely go down as one of the greatist scam artists of our time.
Winston Churchill described socialism so aptly: The equal distribution of misery. Al Gore and his smartly-dressed hoodwinking con-artists cabal are preaching just that: We all have to get equally poor by not affording to drive our SUV’s and heating our homes in winter and cool them in summer, and thus die of whatever we have to die of, hunger because we cant go to work without a means of transport, freeze to death in winter, by sunstroke in summer etc etc until there are only a billion humans on this planet. One billion is the number of humans there should be according to Obama’s science czar, John Holdren.
